simply beautiful. I used to rush off the school bus to catch Moondogs Matinee.......... thank you and that line about watching the Nolan sisters is absolute genius....... I still have that fold out Good Vibrations single.....
@@petebest22 if you don’t mind me asking what was the show called and is there any footage of it today?, i’m a big Northern Ireland punk fan from toronto canada and just found the moondogs not too long ago cheers
@@joshmotta8702 The TV show was called Moondogs Matinee. There are a few clips of the band performing on the show to be found on TH-cam but I don't know where you might find full episodes. I only vaguely remember it now- it was a long time ago and I was pretty young at the time.
I saw them play Who’s gonna tell Mary on afternoon TV around about 1980 , it was great. Can’t remember the program, perhaps it was Blue Peter or Magpie or something like that. Anyhow I was impressed. Thanks for posting this up 👍
FruitierThanThou Aww thanks so very much for showing me this. I shall have another look and listen later when I get a chance. Brilliant stuff and thanks. This is not the one however that I was talking about because I remember it had really bright stage lighting and either the guitarist or bass player had a opened packet of rollo sweets sticking out of the top pocket of his Wrangler jacket lol. The things that stick are amazing eh? Best wishes to you from County Antrim, thanks. Chat again soon 🌠💕🌌🙋♂️🕊
In those days, sessions would consist of unreleased tracks you only might have heard at gigs, or maybe the current single. I remember this session being on. Peel had just mentioned the Nolan Sisters for some reason, probably the only time ever, then was astonished to hear their name within a minute of the Moondogs track.
Remember r this from John Peel in a ten t on my orange radio with white headphone good times
If I could like this a million times I would
This song makes me smile!
Saw them supporting the Undertones - Cardiff Top rank 1980...ran them close that night..great hooks and live band
Saw them at Newcastle City Hall same tour. They were excellent.

🏆👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💘
Seen the Moondogs live in Derry many moons ago, alway remembered this hit
This band is an unknown gem. Love the bass
Wow, what a great find. I remember scouring the record shops of Dublin for a copy of Who's Gonna Tell Mary. I was unfortunately unsuccessful.
Great band. Some good songs. Shame they weren't a bit more successful
First song sounds like a modern day Beat, Jam and Sqeeze mash up. The Moondogs take me back years. Mint tunes.
You left out the most obvious one--The Undertones.
Lol, yeah undertones 😊 , moondogs were as good as the undertones imo . Plus , the Moondogs had their own tv show 😊👍

Saw them supporting The Undertones at The Free Trade Hall Manchester 1980 wearing my jeans and favourite black Harrington Jacket.
Derry's finest

Fantastic, not heard this peel session before, Another great band from Derry.
Wish the BBC would release the Peel Sessions complete for this amazing band.
For sure
Anyone remember their tv series? .... yes really!
"Moondog Matinee..."
Remember these boys/teens in St Joe’s secondary school Derry what a great time in a troubled era.
Got the singles, but would love the album....but not at current prices lol
