I used to be a RM80k C200 guy 6 years ago. Bought W204 CGI. Ada gaya mahh. Gaya comes with a cost whereby i fix until my mother also cannot recognise. 5 years of ownership, total cost to replace the parts surpass RM30k. Only the fking TCM spoil twice within 2 years cost me RM6.2k to replace new each time.. Now i bought a fortuner. No need to worry about breakdown as i always outstation. Buying conti cars are like a timebomb, anytime the car can breakdown out of nowhere…..
@@stewart-oj6qw Means only rm6k per year, that sounds reasonable…
@@MrHTCfan Yes. But currently the car still have problem. Total cost to replace all parts est RM10k. Diagnosis: Fuel pressure not enough, need to change fuel pump RM2k. Sprocket Cam gear round 2 to change cost RM6.5k for original, 5 years ago changed once with taiwan parts lasted only around 100k mileage. Additionally, Engine water pipe leaking and engine minor misfire due to ECU almost kong. At present, my w204 just park inside house only with just cold start every morning. Even i want to sell RM35k below market also no people want.. So you think above problems are reasonable?😂
@@stewart-oj6qw stitty car
@@stewart-oj6qw
looks like u used it a lot. used coti cars better used as weekend cars not as daily drivers . also spending 30k for repairs is quite reasonable for long term usage
@@praba991ify Mileage just 248000km. Surpass RM30k just for part change and that is not including normal and gearbox oil change which cost RM550 and RM700 each time. The thing that is Most frustrated is that i need to go in workshop every few months to put down the car for few days to check. Also the same part breakdown twice. TCM - transmission control module i changed once in 2020 and another in dec 2022 which breakdown in Thailand. Now i just park inside the house because another 10k needed to fork out to fix the sprocket cam gear which is second time this round, fuel pump, and ECU. Just clock 248000km from 80000km from i bought during 2018 and always have problem. I think BMW is better, just do top overhaul, engine oil seal casket change to solve the oil leaking problem only.. Gearbox and cam gear of bmw more tahan lasak even which higher hp and torque.. Many foremen told me BMW at least can last 400000km for the cam gear & tcm before the problem i face in my merc..
I did an excel spreadsheet to compare overall cost after 5 yrs. You don’t actually save much by buying used. New car = Depreciation only. Used car = Depreciation + Repairs + Higher loan interest (albeit absolute amount may be lower). And depending on the car, there’s often still a lot of room for used car to further depreciate in value. Nevertheless, I ended up with used car, twice. Cuz firstly it gives me access to more different cars, 2ndly the car price is lower hence psychologically doesnt feel so painful. 3rdly, there’s a chance for repair costs to be lower than forecasted (my forecast quite conservative).
Repair cost can be vary, example used F30 below RM100k, water leaking issue either reservoir or unknown hose issue. You will get knock by mechanic for RM1k per job until the job done maybe you got wrack until 4th job until get it done or you get part online and get someone you really close to and repair it and get below RM1k but conti car mechanic.....you very hard to get a very nice person. Engine oil leak, pulley loose, lose power, after you buy the 2nd conti car and so many issue, you will rather buy the new car with 5 years free service or extended warranty package.
I guess it depends on the type of used car one gets. Conti cars are not expensive to buy but they’re more expensive to maintain compared to a Japanese or even a newer Korean car. If you get a good used car that gives you trouble free motoring for several years then that’s a bargain.
No way the absorber of german car can last longer than Japanese. This guy just be typical like other 2nd dealer to sell his car. Buying new car can be peace of mind for 5 years warranty unlike 2nd hand.
too obvious
You more typical 😂😂😂rich people talk typical talking 😂😂😂
Sometimes it could. Depends on the mileage
My friend 10 years old w204 suspension still solid
Bro, I have owned a w212 e200, w204 and Camry before. The absorbers on the mercedes lasted longer than my Camry and I am speaking from my experience
This is how people go broke trying to look rich.
You have RM80,000 and go buy a secondhand conti car, that has no warranty, and then expect the service maintenance to be the same price as any other honda and toyota is it?
All that for a base spec C200 is insane. If you cant afford it new, you most definitely cant afford it secondhand.
@@ampo326 exactly.. people dont understand that, even if the car is 80k, but the service and maintenance is still based on a 2xxK car.. not to forget that its a 10years old car, its not ganna be very reliable..
Better just buy a used ev 😂
You are right sir
You be surprise the parts now is very similar to a parts of Honda / Toyota (ori brand to ori brand) and oem is cheaper… it depends how you want it… i seen friends that maintain old bmw and merc and to he fair not much higher than a accord…. It is a D seg anyway
You can opt for 3rd party warranty with used cars.
Never seen so much backlash for kon before😂😂😂
It's OK la. Everybody entitled to their opinion. My objective is to stir discussions 😊👌
The reason for this video is for the sake of discussion. The objective of a discussion is the align the agreement and disagreement together. This is a healthy conversation
even in europe these cars are moneypit. there's a reason the whole world agree they don't have value anymore. a good model appears every now and then, and those won't come cheap as the dealer knows how to milk the money from them
Dude, in Australia the resale value of German vehicles tank like crazy. They are very unreliable and most buyers use novated leasing option. After the lease expires, they usually get auctioned off
brand new BMW X5 suspension oil leak...yes, so incredible.
When did you ever hear of Japanese car having suspension oil leak....!!!
@@rosetzu_nagasawa as the Car Ninja of German Auto Works says, those engineers in Germany didn’t have enough beer when they designed those parts
I just repaired my japanese car absorber up low arm +labour less than 2k
Common guys. Today’s world business trend, every CEO is answerable to shareholders on profitability.
How to boost sales ?
By having product intentionally designed with short life span to boost re purchase, renewal or repair.
Typically conti car parts are designed to last the first 5 years only. But due to different usage and climate and other factors. Some parts deteriorate faster than expected ( less than 5 years ).
But manufacturer are “happy” to replace it for free during this warranty period, knowing they will make more money later on, regardless who own this car subsequently.
They will squeeze the juice out of you anyway as long as someone is holding on to this car.
So, do not become the SOHAI !
On another note, there is nothing to brag anyway. Cars like these are everywhere 😂
I think buying a second hand car is not much of an issue. The main concern for me is to get a reliable mechanic who is able to service and repair the car especially continental car. I had an experience with my car that was virtually damaged by the mechanic as he was not competent. Challenges are always when the car is old and warranty period over when you seek to send the car to outside the official authorised service centre.
Kon...this time i dont agree with your comments, eg C200 CKD has reverse cam, not kosong& handling is not as bad as u said. F30 lots issues..common issues with W205 is aircond, DRL.. interest new car lower la, what nonsense thar guy talking
I presume in his mind is buying this 10 yr old car in cash, no cost of interest.
@@danialz3468 rich man;)
I guess he is talking about the total interest paid for the larger amount of loan for a new car. In terms of interest rate, yes, newer cars have lower rates.
@@gridhar88 i see
Bro, I think you misunderstood on the interest part. We were discussing on the total interest paid to the bank
Give us the most reasonable merc outside workshops bro. A list would be better.
this guy velli gud salesman ah
For new car it's about tech and safety feature... For value, 2nd car
w205... coolant & oil filter housing leak. Air suspension as well
Change the cooler at year 10 or when the car exceed 100k km as best preventive maintenance effort. This is common for any turbo charged car that comes with oil cooler
Excellent discussion points touching on points many just find taboo or just too complex! Keep it going! I’m subscribing..
steering rack knocking sound got saying hi to you just now?
No steering rack sound at all. Please welcome to test drive the car. The steering rack in the common model Mercedes usually lasts longer than the Toyota Camry, vellfire and civic
walao eh mazda 3 where got double the price of this RM80K car of the same year? Top spec 50-60k can get. If you like kosong , 40k also can get
The discussion is comparing C segment japanese brand new vs this 10 yr old german brand.
Check out how many engine components are made out of plastics. Huge money pit.
Never ever go for 2nd hand Conti... Good luck
waht about Lexus ?
Can a 10 year old car still get bank loan ? Over 10 year old car it is not just about cost of the spare parts but whether you have problem getting them ? If meet with accident, you have to pay betterment cost. Owning a 10 year old Mercedes can be a real headache when it comes to repair and maintenance.
Bank loan up to 15yrs still got 5yrs
@@commini Itu daripada syarikat kewangan atau bank ?
@@HWChow-ze8vj you can still get from bank for over 10 yrs but it’s case by case, and usually not worth the hassle. I got it for my 2011 458 in 2022 but the loan tenure can only last till 2026.
The loan tenure usually cannot go beyond 15 years from the car’s manufactured date.
@@HWChow-ze8vj always try to get a loan for used car even if you can afford outright cash. In case the car was a stolen/ grey import or some other BS, at least bank bears the loss first.
@@Colonel.B.Sanders Are you from Malaysia ? As far as I am aware in Malaysia whatever loan you take either car or house you will have to pay all outstanding loan even if the asset is no longer there. If a house is totally damage by acts of god (earthquake, landslide) whatever outstanding borrower still liable after deducting insurance compensation.
There's something u can't deny, the new car is a new look and newer technology. The only good about used car is affordability. So if u don't go for up to date look, used is not a bad idea
nah,no matter how much technology u throw into the w205, it's still worse than the w204. That's a fact. Oh and there's this adage, the less features or technology, the simpler the car, the less things will go wrong. But even the w204 is already a very advanced car already
For the record, I like the W204 way more than the W205
What about electronics repairs? Thats a crazy 'little' costs that may be so frequent, you will need to be so friendly with your mechanicS.
For Asean:Conti car meaning class branding,Force induction but all at a cost.
Just buy it and don't complain. New over 240K. Just pray that previous owner is not stringy on maintenance.
Chep to buy, expensive to own. Good luck.
And i cant understand as well how a newer model that comes out of Mercedes, eg. the w205 could look worse than the model it replaces...
you habmve to fork out rm5000 for 4 absorbers replacement.
Wrong. Sachs Absorber - 4 only less than RM2K.
Installation only RM300 for 4 lah.😂😂
You planning to sell all your cars just with this one video? people going for new cars for a peace of mind. some of the new car brands have a steady market value (very less depreciation) letsay if you worry about the depreciation, do some research on which has steady market value and go for it .
I from my phone know it’s a Japan spec bro….look at the rear glass got Japan sticker
When they say that these cars are made to last , they mean that you get ‘more life’ out of the parts. Unlike Japanese car parts that have a ‘shorter life’ span. General built quality and engineering is far superior with Mercs and BMW .
I think you meant the other way around 😂
You talking about 70s German bruh..
Most japs cars are known for their reliability. That's a reason why Toyota is the best selling car in the world. Buying a used conti car makes you psychologically feel good cos it's cheap and you're driving a conti car.
@@mr123undead yea.. those were really driven by engineering.. nowadays driven by accounting spreadsheet 😂
i would disagree. Here in the middle east, i can easily spot late 90s and early 2000s land cruiser/prado/pajero but very rare i see any continental cars more than 10 years old especially X5, Q8,ML. My colleague has a 2008 Lexus LS 460 with 300,000km as his daily car to work as his 2013 BMW 750iL and 2011 G63 AMG kept ending up in workshop. BTW used conti cars are dirt cheap in the middle east where i live.
Lexus would be better choice since Conti car so many problem ?
Talk so much but still did not discuss the KM mileage used of this Benz
All i can say is, after watching this video, w205 is not as solid as the mighty w204, w204 is still King of the C classes, and prob one of the best models to have came out of Stuttgart. Only model I personally feel could rival the 204 is perhaps the w201 190E.
Buy. In Singapore a 10 year old W205 C180 will cost sgd130k and can drive for another 10 years😂
Kon , you need to make more controversial videos like this...then only got people watch and comment
I thinking the same also. Haha.
This car underpower heavy
Hahahha even debunking warranty for new cars…”takes time to go thru warranty process”…come on la guys…lets stick to facts n not be so hard sell…
Nice car ....
you dont bluff me ah nia seng XD
Is new car and second hand financing the same?
Second hand has the following additional stipulation:
1. Financial tenure cannot go beyond the car's 15th year of age. Meaning if you buy an 8-year old car, you can take longer than 7-year tenure. 9-year old car, max 6-year tenure.
2. Interest rates increase with the car's age.
@@KonWaiLuen Thanks! 🙏
Maintaining a Honda Civic is much cheaper than to maintain a Mercedes, that is a fact. Parts itself cost much more. When you buy a RM80K Mercedes, you are maintaining a RM250K Mercedes, not an RM80k car! Let's not forget that.
You can look at it that way, or you can look at the fact that you've bought a car that was RM250k brand new at RM80k, and still looks like you spent RM100k+. Value is all in perspective.
@@KonWaiLuen what does value means to you? Bragging rights?
@whathaff value is whatever you define as important to you. For me, bragging rights don't come into play for a C 200, but there are different aspects to car ownership that appeals to different people.
Mercedes OEM price is reasonable, just a bit higher than Japanese car, nowadays you can easily get China OEM, just mechanics here like to mark-up cost and labour fees.
LOCKER SPECS.....nice
Just curious is there any continental car that drove more than 300k mileage with just only change of wear and tear parts only?
Of course.
Especially 80s 90s mercedes

I have seen many F10 520 diesel still running on original engine and gearbox. My w212 e200 has done more than 200k km before I sold it off with original engine, gb and ECU.
