Hi Roy, cheers for the upload. Good job.
For future reference, your ash will season adequately from split, in about 4 weeks. Once its out of the round, ash seasons dead quick.
    Nice one bud

Proper job ! Nice sympathetic renovation to put a top quality hook back into working life. Kudos to you for doing the job properly. The 1552 stamp is the model number and I'm guessing it's a 10" hook or possibly 9" . Could be a Newton pattern. Parkes did a Devon hook No 1548 which has a deeper nose than yours . (Model number 1552 is not listed in the 1947 or 1948 catalogues, so could be earlier, there is a 1910 catalogue). You're absolutely right the traditional way to fit handles was to burn them in and washer and pein the tang. But from over 20 years experience epoxy will do it but will eventually loosen so I would also pin it through the handle and tang. (4mm diameter knife pin will do the job without compromising the tang). Hope this helps (master hedgesteeper)

Hey Roy, Great video and that song is great. Does the Parkes billhook have the 'two feet and Biped' stamp as well? I have three of them different sizes, but that is a really nice billhook, I bet it sharpened up a treat....good old British steel.

Thanks Ian. Yes it has got the two feet stamped on it and a number. Is that the amount they made 😳. Still waiting for your video 😄
