Sigtryggr is calm, collected and obviously better under pressure than Edward who loses his shit at the end here. It's so infuriating but it's also a nice call back to exactly how Uhtred was in his youth. Now Uhtred is the wise elder trying to mediate.

@@juliadexter No, he was dumb in the first season when he was a teenager. Even he admitted it to Father Beocca multiple times.
It wasn't until he became a slave that he got some well deserved humility and drastically changed and grew up.
@@Khay-77 No he wasn't , He's just angry that Alfred was using him and married him to midlrith which bought a lot of debts into his life and he was trying to solve those debts and it further ended their relationship...it's bcoz of him Alfred won the Battle of Ethandun.

@@juliadexter I'm not arguing he had reasons for some of the things he did. It's just the way he did some things and his brash ignorance that got him into more trouble because he didn't understand how the game was played.
He was told multiple times after he killed Ubba and they successfully defeated the Danes to go to Alfred. He didn't and then allowed young Odda to claim the victory for himself. He raided Cornwall knowing it was a stupid idea. He was constantly ignoring the advice of Beocca and others.
That's from the books even and the show did a great job showing his character progression as he got older and wiser. It's why Edward is so infuriating in season 4 as he's young and making stupid decisions.
@@Khay-77 I agree with u on the Killing of Ubba and not telling Alfred that it was him but he was just eager to find mildrith and wanted to make sure she's safe...But the raid of cornwall was just neccesary for him to clear the debts of his and Midlrith's land.
It's Just he doesn't want to be a Saxon That Alfred wants him to be and they both just kept poking each other's belief's

In fairness to Edward, he was acting unusually reckless in this ep because his 2 sons were in Winchester. And he is young in S4, he's basically S1 Uthred here...
Sigtryggr and his interest in Western culture and Christianity reminds me a little of Ragnar. They both decided to play smart rather than just use force to get forward
I find Sigtryggr's character one of the most interesting that this show has ever created. If I remember correctly, the show has him written as a relative of Ivar the Boneless and It seems fitting that he would remind us of Ragnar. Thoughtful, intelligent, curious of other cultures and very cunning in his tactics.

Sigtryggr is one of my favorite characters this season. He reminds me a bit of Erik.
I really like the fact that the Danes aren’t just random bad guys each season. Every Dane has a reason and a motive for fighting.

The actor Eysteinn is great for sure. I still don’t get why he rescued Brida and why it was so easy to take Winchester lol. I do really like his character though.

I'm kinda bummed about Brida this season. Aleswyth has really turned me around. Every time you try to say Sig-trigger's name I die laughing. Totally agree with your assessment of the ass-licker as well. He did the right thing in speaking out. He pretty much saved his sister. Eadith is a great character.

Brida's intensifying anger and bitterness is consistent with her character development in the books.

Haersten reminds of a chubby little finger like character, but he is a good character, he is always keeping us guessing what he is going to do next? Brida should've been killed off after Ragnar was killed.
Jeppe is a great actor but Haesten is written too stupidly to still be alive now. He wants reputation and hangs Uhtred upside down? Lol.

I love how their are little things that Sigtriggr does and says that reminds me of Ivar but in a calmer mannerism. I know the two series arent related but there are small parallels in it.
Sigtryggr is Ivars grandson. Obviously there are going to be parallels, they are both historical fiction set in the same period with many of the same characters.

Sith when you are done watching TLK you gotta react to The Witcher its 8 episodes long and it's a great medieval fantasy series you'll love it.
Sigtryggr did to Eardwulf what young Ragnar should've done to Aethelwold early on. He didn't allow the poisonous words of a traitor to seep into his ear causing division.
You Must Watch "Dark" on Netflix after The Last Kingdom. Its amazing.
Edward mirrors Knut with his bloodlust. Just charging straight in.
Also it was interesting that Haesten said Sigtryggr would show mercy to the arse licker. The fact he didn't shows that Haesten is part of the old guard who doesn't understand this new generation of Danes - they see the world very differently.

The audiobooks had his name pronounced "See-trig-er" or "Sig-trig-er" or "Seeg-trig-air" depending on the accent of the character the narrator was reading at the time.

Tbh brida has always been far too stubborn for me to like her. Her character has had zero growth except a hatred for uhtred. Where I disliked uhtred in season 1 he has gone through so much shit and learned from it but brida is exactly the same but angrier. Hope she gets taken out next season.
You read my mind. I also didn't like Uthred until the end of season 1 after he discovered his infant son's grave. Uthred developed over the next three seasons but Brida hasn't and she's so annoying, hope she will be killed in the series finale. I predict it'll be Uhtred's daughter or possibly Cnut's sons since she killed their father.

The heasten scene where he wants to be the man who killed the dane slayer and then leaves him upside down makes no sense, why not just kill them all.
Feels like breda is pregnant forever, hope they keep to her book storyline but I feel they'll completely change it...
The capture of wintenceaster makes no sense either, how a troop of Danes travelled from Wales and captured the capital of wessex without a fight r even being seen doest make sense..
Eysteinn is such a great actor but parts of Sigtryggr’s story doesn’t make much sense. Why did he save Brida?

I dont buy for one second the Danes in this show would follow somebody as scrawny and pretty-boyish as the person who plays Sigtrigyr. He is not intimidating at all.
It doesn’t matter how you look if your really good at fighting and smart I think people would of followed you. Plus he has a small hoard he’s not like cnut or bloodhair with tons of ships he’s a small jarl from Ireland that’s young and just now making his reputation
Its more convincing than Vikings which had all of Denmark following an angry cripple with 'magic legs' straight out of Forrest Gump.
