Yeah, it’s very different right now - but some other changes too are taking the heat out of LKF. Like the MTR to Kennedy Town has meant more pubs opening west of Central, so LKF feels less concentrated than it did say 10 years ago maybe. Or maybe I’m just getting old!
They are now yes, bars are allowed to open until 10pm. But I think the area has also been quieter since 2015 than it used be in the 2000’s. Wyndham Street got a lot of the clubs while LKF tried to go for more high-end restaurants. Plus the subway to Kennedy town, and the gentrifying of Wan Chai south, all make for multiple bar clusters instead of one big bar area in LKF
Oh they do plug the streets haha. You can hear the horns blaring sometimes! This is normally packed with diners and drinkers, and used to be one of the busiest places on a Friday night. But all bars and restaurants are closed from 6pm at present!
@@richardwalkshongkong Yipes! Horns must be non stop then lol! 😅 I would imagine the early closing would be necessary especially during these times, hopefully we will all return to some sort of normal soon. 😊

@@richardwalkshongkong I was back for a few weeks at the start of 2020 and it was much quieter than I remembered it 2009-2015ish!
Man, that was kinda depressing!
We’ll be back! Everyone’s staying safe but ready to go soon. In the last 10 years Peel Street is kind of the new LKF ... if you can believe it!
