  • In Luke the 16th Chapter, Jesus teaches using 2 of his greatest parables. The first is that of the dishonest manager. The second is one of Jesus most debated and argued parables - the parable of Lazarus and the rich man in Hell. Scriptures considered include Matthew 13.51, 1 Corinthians 6.2, 1 Timothy 6.17, Matthew 19.8, Matthew 5.17-18, Ephesians 2.11-16, Galatians 5.1-4, Colossians 2.16-17, Matthew 19.7-9, Hebrews 8.6, 1 Corinthians 7.12-16, John 11.11-14, Daniel 12.2, John 5.39, Luke 22.20, Luke 12.16-21.

Interestingly Jesus points out how hard it was for one dot or tittle to pass from the law. A reference to how strictly the Jews kept it. And then he follows up with the verse on adultery, something which they weren't strict on at all, divorcing for any old reason. The parable then continues by highlighting their laxity in helping the poor, which the Law was very vocal about. And then lastly, their failure to listen to Moses himself, who had promised a prophet like him.
The rich man's words, in verse 30, betray how much regard they actually had for Moses' words. So, the dot or tittle not passing away, seems to be another example of how the Pharisees appeared outwardly, but inwardly they were removing parts of the Law left, right, and centre.

The rich man(Those who sat in the seat of Moses) is in hades(the grave) where there is no fire. Gehenna is the place of fire.
Jesus exposes the false idea of the fire of hades as taught by the Greeks and believed by Jewish leaders.

21st Century reformation, you are twisting Lazarus and the rich man.
It isn't a parable, even if it was a parable, a parable is a discourse that gives a Spiritual truth..
If you ever get saved, the Holy Spirit can reveal the Biblical truths to you.

@@Psalm-pu2jq If you and the 21st century man knew the Bible, you would know that the Old Testament Righteous went to Abraham's Bosom, and the unrighteous went to Hell, [As in Hades], As the Bible and the Biblical Hebrew and Greek says.
And under the New Testament, Christians go to Heaven, and sinners go to
      Hell, [As in Hades].
You are saying, you once believed the Bible, But now you don't believe it.

Why so unkind here? Perhaps if you knew the Bible you would know that overwhelmingly the OT and NT say that the actual condition of the dead is that they are "sleeping" awaiting resurrection. The dead know... nothing - Ecclesiastes 9.5. Daniel tells us where they are and what they are doing - They are in the dust of the earth and they are sleeping awaiting resurrection. Daniel 12.2.

@Psalm-pu2jq the Bible and the Biblical Hebrew and Greek teaches the spirit and soul of mankind is eternally alive.
There's no such Biblical thing as soul sleeping.
The meaning of Ec 9: is the dead don't know what's happening on earth, but they know what's happening where they are.
