  • This model is more complex than your average miniature when it comes to assembly, so Naomi shows how to put each piece, one after the other, together so you don't have to guess.

    Remember, cut with the sprue cutters, clean down to near perfection with the hobby knife blade, and then flip the knife to its unsharpened side, and shave the rest of the sprue excess away for smooth pieces, particularly on curves.

    A big thing to keep in mind are all of the little bits sticking out of the bigger pieces. Things like leaves, vines, etc. They break off easily.

    As someone who is relatively new to the hobby, the first page of the Slann assembly might be one of the hardest things I've ever done in the hobby. Also, there is nothing more terrifying than holding the slann chair and moving your fingers and hearing strumming sounds as you graze the vines. The only comparable I have in frustrating assembly is Hernkyn Pioneers.

    Did GW listen to you and change the instructions or am I crazy?? I just got the Christmas box and they do indeed advise as you advise in the instructions, whereas piece 18 (the back) goes before placing piece 8 (bottom plate). In the video I believe you suggest they say to do the opposite. Just noticed this while figuring out how to build this thing right now. I thought this was interesting lol. Nice work, thanks for vid.

      Well that would be cool XD

    • @legiox217
      @legiox217 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha yeah. I have just acquired the original army box, and have the instructions in front of me now along with the Christmas box that came with a separate instruction for the Slann, and they did indeed change it since launch. The army box instructions had us assembling that bottom piece (8) as early as 1-B, while the revised instructions have us doing it way later in stage 1-G.
      It was definitely wrong and they fixed it, so this video was (still is, if you have the old wrong instructions) more valuable than the majority of people likely thought. Its possible some of your fans at GW spotted this video and prompted the correction, so we can run with that haha :D @@swordnsteele712

  • @SonsOfLorgar
    @SonsOfLorgar ปีที่แล้ว

    I think some rubber bands would have served you well to hold the assemblies pressed together where apropriate.
    You also seem to prefer very thin plastic glue for this model, do you use very thin consistency glue universally or do you use different consistencies for different types of models?

    • @swordnsteele712
      @swordnsteele712  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use extra thin for most things, but thick sometimes for stiffer terrain plastic 🤔
      It's the applicator that I like, which allows for precision :)

    • @swordnsteele712
      @swordnsteele712  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, and I did consider rubber bands, but because there were so many bits and bobs hanging about that could be bent/broken off and plastic glue drying in multiple areas, I stayed away from them. If I had waited between pieces for the plastic glue to dry though they may have been an option :)

    • @SonsOfLorgar
      @SonsOfLorgar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@swordnsteele712 yeah, I guess rubber bands doesn't lend themselves well to the pacing of a single take tutorial video😁

      @swordnsteele712  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lol, I don't think many pieces of this fellow was easy, but the video would have been far too long if I kept my struggles in XD
      I only showed how to put them in so they'd fit, not all the times they didn't XD
      And you can always add the glue on once the pieces are already connected when you dry-fitted them in :) (if using extra thin plastic glue!)

    not a beginner model? women, we were putting together airplanes and ships consisting of something like 500-1000 pieces when we were 11. if someone can't put something like gw's model together, than he has wood sticks not hands, and should change focus alltogether...

      I have met many many people that have never ventured into models as children and are indeed starting as adults, jumping into Warhammer brand new to modelling. I think those who spent time since they were 11 modelling would not count as a beginner and I agree don't need any such help. This video isn't exactly for them. 😄
