Getting a therapist would be at the top of my list. My mental health was my biggest barricade in jumping into creating the happiest and healthiest life I can.

Keltie, if you've already done a video like this, I apologize, but I think it would be fun to see you do a video where you do and rate "old school" fitness trends. Step aerobics, the Jane Fonda workout, Jazzercise etc. It would be interesting to see how those approaches compare to what people are doing nowadays. Extra points if you wear a retro leotard with leg warmers ;)
Focusing on core has made a huge difference to how my back feels on a daily basis, I always did a little bit but I’ve been doing lots of full core/ functional training and it’s brilliant. Doing weights gave me more core muscles too. Great video, thanks
The shoe thing is so true! My dad's a podiatrist and makes me buy a new pair twice a year as well as use orthotics molded from my own feet. If you can afford it I highly recommend them. Having them could save you so many long term issues especially with your spine. I Never have any foot or shin pain even after long runs and even when I'm rusty after a break :)
This is one of the most informative and realistic fitness videos I’ve seen. I’m currently in a rut with my running, and seeing this helped me a lot. Thank you!!
I would tell my younger self that if you're following a fitness program (I'm looking at you Blogilates, Yoga with Adriene, MadFit, Chloe Ting) it is MORE important to listen to your body's needs than the program's instructions. If you feel you need a rest day and it's not called for in the program yet, take it. If you're feeling extra hyped and strong that day, maybe increase your weights and try to beat your personal records for a move. If you need an easy day, maybe do the planned workout at 70% effort instead of 110%, or go for a walk instead. These programs were built to support you, but they aren't personalized for your daily needs. It's better to skip 1 day's workout to preserve your body than over-exert it, which can throw you off course for multiple days/weeks. Also heavily agree on stretching/mobility which becomes a higher priority the older you get so it's best to start with a good foundation when you're younger. Don't rely on caffeine as your energy source (NOTHING beats sleep). Buy workout clothes you feel confident in and you'll be more likely to work out. If it's a nice day, take your workout outside for x2 dopamine hit. If your partner/friends/family don't understand your fitness journey, that's OK. You can only control what's within your power so feel confident that YOU know you're doing what's best for you (don't look for external validation).
I was expressing frustration to my registered dietitian and she told me the same thing... and it helped SO MUCH! I realized I was trying to solve that feeling and all the other feelings with food because food means dopamine for me... even if, what I actually wanted was water or a nap or just, quiet. That last one is SO IMPORTANT!
as someone who's 22, and has also been switching to clean eating, trying to get my life to look more healthy & sustainable for an older version of myself, all of these tips are so amazing. thank you so much for this video! i look up to you and your life (:
One thing I wish I would have realized sooner is that I need to eat food to fuel my body. I also had that grind mentality but I was doing it on an empty tank and never seeing results! We need food for a reason, I wish my younger self figured that out sooner
This!!! I was eating like 1200 calories a day and running, and that worked for awhile for losing weight up until a certain point. Then I realized that I had to eat at least 2,000 and burn 400 or so to see results. I started having more energy, being able to use the restroom again (TMI but it was a struggle for me), and the pounds were actually coming off.
I love your more holistic approach to fitness and wellness, it made starting some type of fitness routine seem so much less daunting as you put the emphasis on having fun and feeling good. In the last two months I’ve started holding myself accountable to a fitness routine, spin twice a week, pilates twice a week, and I walk at least two miles a day (I can’t run due to hip dysplasia). I can’t believe the difference it has made to my overall mood and while I’m not doing the types of workouts that will build big muscles, I’m loving seeing the little muscles I’m developing and I love feeling my higher endurance and my improved balance. I still need to improve my flexibility…any recommendations for improving flexibility would be greatly appreciated. I thought yoga would help, but I think my current level of inflexibility prevents me from fully benefiting from yoga
When it comes to walks, I love to find things that I want to go see around where I live. I don't think of it as step numbers or miles, although I do have a general idea of how far I walk just by knowing the area. The aay I think of the walk is all about going to see if the frogs are out yet in a swamp next to a bike path or checking out the progress on some local construction. It makes it so much more fulfilling than worrying about exactly how far I walk or how fast.
I'm getting back into working out after like 5 years off the wagon and I really needed this. I used to watch your videos aaaall the time and I'm really glad you popped back up in my recommended. Thank you
Mobility is my biggest regret. I always just wanted to be bigger faster stronger, couldnt sacfrifice the time of gains learning how to move correctly. Once I started knees over toes, yoga and general mobility training and learning how immobile and out of balance my body was everything has improved. My whole body is stronger my running and lifting improved. I can snowboard longer. I also read a study where there is a very strong link between mobility and longevity.
I had to kind of start over with weight training after the pandemic (because it was impossible to get my hands on weights), and I noticed much faster progress because I was able to learn from the mistakes I'd made before. My lifts progressed so fast and my endurance improved a lot more. It's definitely attributed to all the lessons learned over the years
@@fromviennatoyou totally! But I did also make a lot of mistakes in the beginnings of my fitness journey that I didn't have to make the second time around! The biggest one for me, as Keltie pointed out, was grinding too hard and not giving myself adequate recovery/rest/food
Loved this! Something I would tell myself (and need to continue to tell myself) is that comparison to past versions of yourself is not the most productive way to reach future goals. There are so many outside factors that influence your fitness at any given moment. When I was a college athlete I had hours upon hours each day to spend training and recovering. Now that I work a corporate job my hours are much more limited and I have to prioritize things like sleeping and work. Reframing my goals according to my lifestyle has been hard but I think necessary !
Thank you for this video Keltie! I've struggled with where I'm at in my fitness/health journey. I have two little ones now and my body has changed quite a bit. I love your tip about doing progress vidoes/photos so I can see and appreciate my actual progress instead of focusing on what social media says my progress should be. I'm just excited to become a better (healthier) version of myself so that I can be my best for my family and hopefully be a positive role model for my kids!
Prioritise sleep - that's what I'd do!! I spent so long trying to get fit / healthy / eat well, but wasn't sleeping enough! When I started sleeping properly everything changed!!
I really wish I had taken photos of where I started. I've been on my journey for a year and the change is huge but I hated photos of me before so lost out on that little push that's needed sometimes. Love watching your videos Keltie. x
Mine is either jumping over different workout routines or staying on a bad one, hoping that my body might just need more time to get results. I almost always end up starting over due to injury or lost endurance along the way.
Thanks you for your vedios... because of you vedios I can now do 3 times a week for a 5km run so last week I did a 12km run!.. you doing a great job I am inspired by your vedios. Learning that weight loss is not about the scale...

I've been loving using LMNT after I saw it in your video and got the free sample pack! I'm running my first half marathon in 2 weeks and it has been a game changer for recovery. Thanks girl!!! Love your content
1. prioritise sleep 2. nourish well my body (i didn't know how to track well my calories, now i do 💪🏽) 3. dont focus on hitting 10,000 steps a day, at least walk outside, enjoy it, no matter the numbers! walking is like therapy to me! i love it 🫶🏽 4. stretch a lot!!!!! i need to improve that, especially with my lower back, and my knee injury that i had! i need to focus on mobility too 5. don't do hiit because you "have to" do an activity that you LOVE : aka for me running!!! i loved running way more than doing home workouts but i'd forced myself to doing more home workouts than running outside 😕 6. buy quality activewear and shoes. 7. document my progress as you said! (taking videos, etc) -> I have to focus on a healthy lifestyle and build a healthy productive routine that is sustainable for the long term. 🫶🏽 -> Working out is supposed to be enjoyable, i have to push yourself but not cross my limits. -> Tracking my calories can be healthy! Wanting to lose fat and have aesthetic goals are totally OKAY!! -> Progress is not linear! -> Long term success >>>>>
I do the playlist thing too! And i also call them all the month and the year because i make them every month! I thought i was the only one. I have been making them for years and it's crazy how you go back and listen and it brings you right back it's the weirdest feeling
I wish I could have told my 20 year old self to prioritize form over performance and work on my core stability. I was too mobile and not strong enough in those positions that I ended up having to end my lifting career due to back injuries because I never thought to individualize my training program and have someone take a look at my specific body and build a program from there. No regrets but I was so sad to have to end my competitive lifting career and not be able to lift for fun. Find a good person who can help you learn what your body needs for mobility and strength so you can alway be moving from your center! XOXOXO❤
Love your videos! Super informative and fun 🥰 Alsoooo when you posted your moms pic I was like “Hey her mom is Marjorie O’Connor!” Makes sense with the last name and that you’re both in fitness lol. I did my AFLCA certs with her many years ago!! Such a lovely person.
1) The dub was pretty dang good. 9/10. 2) If I could tell my 19 year old self anything regarding fitness- just love yourself and push the voices of the negative haters out.
Hey I’m new to your channel and loving your content so far. I’d love to see some cycle living as an active female! How that works into the monthly cycle of a woman and all the work out and benefits, and basically a how to . My friends and I have been talking about how there’s not a whole lot of this in the fitness industry because we don’t think it would make a lot of money and the birth control industry is so massive.
OMG I do the monthly playlist thing too! I thought I was the only one haha I build the playlist according to the coming events/festivals and my favourite songs that time
you’re like a fitness bestie that i never had ❤ thank you so much for this video! i love how you’re so outgoing & extraverted which makes me want to watch every single video that you made 😂
Always so funny! The biggest thing I see is people doing hiit thinking they can eat more and not getting results they want. Diet is so big and key to the hard work we put into lifting/cardio.
I never thought the day would come, where I would be called out on drinking more water from one of these videos 😅 But you were absolutely right, I hadn't had water yet today 😂
Yes, Yes, and Yes!!!!! I couldn't agree with you more! I feel like I went through each of these at one point or another in my younger years. Now that I am in my 30's I cringe when I look back. What I thought was healthy living was well it turns out, not so healthy haha. Great video and as always, great content!!!
Salt!! My first pregnancy I was sooo swollen. The next three pregnancies I salted my food to taste and had almost no swelling. If you’re not eating processed food you need to add salt to your food!
I LOVE THIS 🎉. My Husband and I just watched this together and we are going to take on these top tips ! Especially the salt ! Sending you lots of love from New Zealand 🇳🇿
being too strict with my workouts - stupid rules like I have to workout for an hour, or I have to sweat profusely or there's no point...I started dreading working out. Once I started "mindfully" working out - doing what felt good for my body, or what my body felt like it needed that day, I thoroughly enjoyed working out so much more :)
Thank you for this 🙏 I noticed that on days when I did so much and knew I achieved everything I wanted, instead of feeling happy I’d feel low (and very tired). I wondered what it was, it was odd. I recently had the “aha” moment too, when i realised it’s probably dopamine depletion. I started to use it as a measure, that maybe I’m doing just tiny bit too much and if I want to create and maintain a sustainable routine I have to prioritise and slow down
I agree I know I should get more sleep, I should track things more but I usually dk via writing them.down. Salt I actually have started adding to my cooked food. Which I never use to..
Oh. I wish I could get more sleep. I have been therapist, sleep doctors took sleeping pills for years. I started listening to podcast , turn every off and I realize its helping a little. I will keep at it. Do everything else right. Eat ,workout , drink plenty of water . Fitness instructor. My problem is sleep. Wish me luck.
Very good advice. I am getting back into sports after being away from home and having a lot of topics on my list. Knowing I need to sleep more, hearing it from you might help pulling my sh** together and actually sleeping more xD

I regret not lifting heavy weights when I started. I chose weights that were lighter than I was capable of lifting. Wasted a good amount of time wondering why I wasn’t seeing progress!
1. Prioritize sleep 2. Document everything (compare yourself to yourself) (many different areas) 3. Stop spending money on supplements (shoes instead) 4. Don’t fear salt 5. Focus on form 6. Focus core and glute strength 7. 8.don’t track steps just walk for creativity 9. Workout playlists 10. Breath. Pause. 11. Bonus: trust the process
Hope you're having a great weekend so far. How are your workouts coming along? Had a really good leg workout today Pretty much I can't sit down now haha. Hope you have a great rest of your weekend god bless
I wish I knew how to fuel myself correctly. I was doing synchronized swimming on a professional level training every day. Especially throughout high school it was exhausting. In the university I wish slept more. Only few years after my uni I saw a lot of progress in weight lifting when I ate and slept enough.
i would stop telling myself "i'm just weak and not really fit and good at working out" because thats not true at all, i just never got introduced to any type of movement that was enjoyable and p.e. made me hate sports. slowly building my strength and endurance showed me that it's actually enjoyable and i dont 'just suck at it'
AG1 is an INSANE cost. I could likely buy new runners monthly on the cost AG1 is, especially to us Canadians (hello duty charges!). So use the money I "save" on supplement costs and buy runners? Doesn't quite work out that way. I am a huge advocate for good runner, for sure, I am super sad that the AG1 cost is so high. I know they sponsor you so you have to mention them, but it would be great to hear about a more cost effective green supplement :)
I wish I could go back and tell myself to just drink some water. I suffered from chronic migraines most of my life. It was just dehydration the whole time 😅
I grew up afraid of salt and for YEARS I craved chips constantly and couldn't understand why until a friend of mine asked if I salted my food... Then it became so clear that my body had been asking for salt all that time 😬 now I rarely binge on chips where I used to down a family size bag
THIS was a fantastic video i needed to see and will watch again. Thanks, Keltie! 😻 Oh I subscribed to AG1 and also got it for my 48 year od son! Been on it 3.5 weeks and have seen improvements in my health. That green drink is very different from every other one I've tried.
As someone whose pregnancy greatly changed my body and energy, I'd say getting support from someone who can help you navigate a life change with self love and care. Could be an injury, loss, etc. In my case a pregnancy. Find someone to help you through your perspective not a qualitative goal
When I started prioritizing sleep my overall health went through the roof! If I could tell my former self something I would say- don’t have a full time job, a part time, and go to grad school cuz you will NEVER sleep 😂
I look back at those times and I’m literally like HOW but it made me who I am and makes me appreciate where I’ve gotten to now in my life that much more! ❤
would you be willing to show us the exercises you do when you do strength training? obviously they're very catered to you and your specific goals and problems, but i think some good basics with good form would help all of us
I’ve watched a few of your videos and you mention electrolytes a lot, I am considering getting some but not sure where to look for how I am supposed to take them. Do you have a video on this?
I don’t but Andrew huberman did this week and he talks about it perfectly! It’s around the 1:10 marks :) th-cam.com/video/q37ARYnRDGc/w-d-xo.html He also mentions it in some past episode if you look up “Andrew huberman salt” on TH-cam :)

7. document my progress as you said! (taking videos, etc)
-> I have to focus on a healthy lifestyle and build a healthy productive routine that is sustainable for the long term. 🫶🏽
-> Working out is supposed to be enjoyable, i have to push yourself but not cross my limits.
-> Tracking my calories can be healthy! Wanting to lose fat and have aesthetic goals are totally OKAY!!
-> Progress is not linear!
-> Long term success >>>>>
This is probably your best video. 10/10 relatable 🔥
Would love a detailed video about how you track progress.
i loooove the way you present everything!!
OMG I do the monthly playlist thing too! I thought I was the only one haha
I build the playlist according to the coming events/festivals and my favourite songs that time
you’re like a fitness bestie that i never had ❤ thank you so much for this video! i love how you’re so outgoing & extraverted which makes me want to watch every single video that you made 😂
Always so funny!
Thank you Keltie I needed #10
Here’s me reminding you to take a big inhale right now ☺️🤍
I can relate to every single one of these! I really needed this...seriously, thank you so much.
Especially salt!!!
I always see these types of videos but I'm so happy you made one bc I trust you. Thanks Keltie!
being too strict with my workouts - stupid rules like I have to workout for an hour, or I have to sweat profusely or there's no point...I started dreading working out.
I started to use it as a measure, that maybe I’m doing just tiny bit too much and if I want to create and maintain a sustainable routine I have to prioritise and slow down
I regret not realising how awesome i looked and how hard tried!
Great video Keltie and good tips!
Thank you Daz!! ☺️
Keltie this is THE most fun and helpful fitness video! I’m cracking up
Inbetween taking notes! Your self dubbing is a 10/10 💪
I agree I know I should get more sleep, I should track things more but I usually dk via writing them.down.
Loved this video, thanks Keltie!
Dear Keltie, awareness is one of the most valıable investmet one can make for herself…
Couldn’t agree more!
Amazing video! I just started my fitness journey and this was very insightful!! Just know you are helping many!
Very good advice. I am getting back into sports after being away from home and having a lot of topics on my list. Knowing I need to sleep more, hearing it from you might help pulling my sh** together and actually sleeping more xD
i loved your video! it helps so much. 😊
Keltie, we all love you and appreciate you…Greetings from Türkiye..
Love you! 💙
@@KeltieOConnor We all love you too.. So many nationalities, with so many different backgroınds, beliefs, disbliefs..You are kind of bringing millions together with every single of your videos…! Amazing motivation.. You deserve all the best ..!
Yesss to the playlists👏👏
Omg the salt fear. My poor twenty yr old self suffered.
Thank you for the sleep reminder!
Best video ever - really. Thank you.
I regret not lifting heavy weights when I started. I chose weights that were lighter than I was capable of lifting. Wasted a good amount of time wondering why I wasn’t seeing progress!
Accepting that I have limits. That was my biggest obstacle.
1. Prioritize sleep
2. Document everything (compare yourself to yourself) (many different areas)
3. Stop spending money on supplements (shoes instead)
4. Don’t fear salt
5. Focus on form
6. Focus core and glute strength
7.
8.don’t track steps just walk for creativity
9. Workout playlists
10. Breath. Pause.
11. Bonus: trust the process
7. Mobility
I love the playlist tip
Hope you're having a great weekend so far. How are your workouts coming along? Had a really good leg workout today Pretty much I can't sit down now haha. Hope you have a great rest of your weekend god bless
i love how motivating you are! you’ve helped me to get back on track especially as a student! can you remind kaitlyn to drink water?
I wish I knew how to fuel myself correctly. I was doing synchronized swimming on a professional level training every day. Especially throughout high school it was exhausting. In the university I wish slept more. Only few years after my uni I saw a lot of progress in weight lifting when I ate and slept enough.
Great great stuff Keltie!
That shoe thing is for real. Have different shoes for different activities. It took me way to long to learn that lesson
i would stop telling myself "i'm just weak and not really fit and good at working out" because thats not true at all, i just never got introduced to any type of movement that was enjoyable and p.e. made me hate sports. slowly building my strength and endurance showed me that it's actually enjoyable and i dont 'just suck at it'
Your content is just soo good!!! I love your dubbing 10/10
Also I remember your 10,000 steps era lol, glad you found a balance and a good mindset with it now!
Prioritizing mental health and proper rest (not sleep, but "non-productive" activities).
this is such a good video ily
WOW YOU CAN TIMETRAVEL VIA YOUR SPOTIFY PLAYLISTS
I digress but your hair looks so great 😘
As someone whose pregnancy greatly changed my body and energy, I'd say getting support from someone who can help you navigate a life change with self love and care. Could be an injury, loss, etc. In my case a pregnancy. Find someone to help you through your perspective not a qualitative goal
I'm curious if you are strategic about electrolyte use... like just before a workout or throughout the day?
wow, this is great! thank you
Happy you enjoyed!
Very insightful. 👍🏾
When I started prioritizing sleep my overall health went through the roof! If I could tell my former self something I would say- don’t have a full time job, a part time, and go to grad school cuz you will NEVER sleep 😂
Oh my gosh HOW DID YOU BALANCE ALL 3!!! 🤯🤯 a literal SUPER WOMAN
I look back at those times and I’m literally like HOW but it made me who I am and makes me appreciate where I’ve gotten to now in my life that much more! ❤
I did so much cardio starting out!! 😂
I love it. so true
Your hair looks great
would you be willing to show us the exercises you do when you do strength training? obviously they're very catered to you and your specific goals and problems, but i think some good basics with good form would help all of us
I’ve watched a few of your videos and you mention electrolytes a lot, I am considering getting some but not sure where to look for how I am supposed to take them. Do you have a video on this?
I don’t but Andrew huberman did this week and he talks about it perfectly! It’s around the 1:10 marks :)
th-cam.com/video/q37ARYnRDGc/w-d-xo.html
He also mentions it in some past episode if you look up “Andrew huberman salt” on TH-cam :)
Ohhh the dopamine hit from buying supplements is so real!
Also only just bought new shoes 😅
