I own this 20L version as it was very popular at my rainy London office -- and I also bought the previous 20L version about two years ago. My needs were: fits my 16" laptop, can fit a standard protein shaker bottle, and can it fit a few extra office tech bits while still being comfortable to wear. The older version has definitely suffered from fabric peeling and while it does still keep my kit dry, there's a noticeable deterioration in fabric quality; I've owned the version in the video for 3 months while travelling to-and-fro to rainy Netherlands and haven't experienced any real wear and tear yet. Lovely looking back and I'm a big fan of the orange accents. The main issue I have is that dreaded 'black hole', which is *extremely* frustrating. I often need to empty out my whole pack just to confirm that I didn't pack what I thought I did. And the bottle holders are all but unusable if you're packing the bag out. As they said in the video: the straps are very tight! It looks great, is very comfortable and well made and will I suspect be ideal for most people that can put up with the blind hunt for your gear.
I meant this as a VERY positive point about your review - but peeling of fabric is something which i really appreciate you highlighting. This is something very relevant to us (i am based in Asia too) and you are the ONLY reviewer who mentions this. I really appreciate it! :)
its a crucial bit of information! I just wish I had the ability to test the peeling, but unfortunately no way to do that so all I can do is mention it for fabrics that I know can have that tendency
@ i think fabric with a inner layer of water repellent will tend to peel after some time. “Notable” mentions are Mystery Ranch packs, and Mindshift (Thinktank’s sister brand) packs. I can personally vouch for their peeling….sadly 😂😂 well, but on the other side of the coin, its like a timer to self justify the next purchase haha
I have had 3 roll-top backpacks over about 6 years and the first two started pealing after a year or two. The first was from the LOMO the second i cant remember but the 3rd one i have is from Earth Pak which i got on amazon for about £50 and hasn't started peeling (yet). Peeling is definitely something to highlight. One other pro of these bags isnt just water resistance but keeping out SAND. Also Aaron thank you for following through on this video after you replied to a question i asked about this specific bag type.
I own the older version of the roll top bag 20l and the adventure bag 42l. Good quality. Comfortable to wear. Practical and looks cool. Highly recommended
It would be great to watch your review about Stubble & Co Everyday 20L. I love your reviews and I'm almost buying it (or Bellroy Venture Ready 20l), but without your opinion I'm a bit unsure.
@@Nomads.Nation water resistance is great! This backpack is minimalist and excellent quality, I’m very happy about it. Initially I missed some more pockets and organisation, but now I’m happy to be minimal and enough for my use case.
i keep wondering - since most rolltops have a zipper at the top - if one can completely use the capacity of the roll top or if it still needs to be thoroughly rolled in to close it, because it only has the magnet?
if the rolltop has a magnet, then yes you are right, it needs to be folly rolled which compromises functionality. This is an issue with the Minaal rolltop for instance
you can see what's in my EDC in every single review haha, I just take what I use in my own bag and pack it out in whatever bag I'm testing. But great idea for the team!
How close were you to getting the XPS 17 in? is it possible for occasional use? Really like the bag but that is my laptop so I am hoping I can squeeze it in when I need to lol
Not only this bag specifically but if you look at their earlier releases (for example The Kit Bag) it’s extremely similar. I don’t see many of those early bags being offered anymore which is at least a good sign they are developing their own brand language.
I own the Wandrd backpack, and this deed has a very very similar look. The main difference I see is that it doesn't have the zippered back and side access that helps quick access, especially for camera. Otherwise, I would mistake it as Wandrd if I saw that on a street.
I appreciate the video! Though I would love if you tried to test the features more instead of defaulting to "I have no idea, no way to test or verify this". Ie: Show us the reflective logo, just shut the lights off! Or set the bag down in the shower to test rain resistance! Your viewers probably would take a more thorough review over a more "cleanly edited" one.
These look way too much like the Wandrd Prvke, just w/o the back and side access to the main compartment. I mean remove those to access points and they are the same bag... and you didn't offer the Prvke as an alternative recommendation cause it would have been too obvious ("Do you want the same bag, but also carry a camera? Get the Prvke") Not defending Wandrd, or the Prvke... I kinda dislike the brand and rolltops in general. But I dislike blatant copying even more. PS: paying to skip the queue, while not as bad as paying for the content itself, still seems way too try-hard. Nothing against you, you're open about it and what they paid for and you also gotta earn money, which is fine. But the brand being that desperate... dunno... I, for one, would never buy a product that is pushed this hard; and I don't just mean bags, but generally advertising has the reverse effect on me, makes me suspicious/apprehensive about the product.
thanks for your feedback! I think it makes sense though, they want to get this review live on a popular-ish channel before the most busy time of the year (Black Friday).

@@Nomads.Nation great! By the way I just bought the Everyday 20l. Two reasons: the separated entry for the laptop, and water resistant. UK weather.

I do like stubble and co, but looking on the second hand market their bags with this material do not hold up well to marks and scuffs
Good to know, thank you for sharing!

I wouldn’t do it if I were you, too tight, won’t fit
The 15l might be a good personal item for travelling if it fits under the seat
Good call!
Would a Dell 14'' fit in the 15 L?
don't have one so can't say for sure, I'd recommend asking S&C customer support - be sure to let us know what they say!
This might be the earliest I've been to a video! XD
Thanks for watching so fast!!
Would like them more if they didn’t hijack Wandrd’s aesthetic when developing their brand
They both make roll tops from similar-looking materials, but I don’t think it’s hijacked.
