Gonch and Hollo walking to the bus stop after helping clear up. Gonch: “And a happy new year? You prat Hollo” Hollo: “What? Just wishing everyone a happy new year. What’s wrong with that?” Gonch: “Prat”
Is this Gripper's final appearance in GH? According to IMDb it is. 6:09 "Enjoy that, did you?" "Magic, mate!" "So pleased. Next!" I suppose it sums up the animosity between the pair of them perfectly!
Gripper to Roland: “Alright Gutsy! You remember you old mate Uncle Gripper” Roland: “What are you doing here Gripper?” Gripper: “I ain’t forgot you still owe me 20p in GCE payment. Pay up or you go to hospital!”
I was surprised that Imelda Davis, Grange Hill's Bully #2, appeared in this episode as well, possibly her first as I didn't see her before. So the two LEGENDARY GRANGE HILL BULLIES got to be in the same episode!
This episode is a strange one - filmed as part of Series 9 but with one or two Series 8 characters - it really has the look and feel of Series 9 and it was weird how they got Mr Smartarse back for just one scene.
@Snarzell 1975 I noticed how Mr Smart was only in one scene as well, perhaps as the actor had left the year before they only thought it was to bring him back to do one scene
Would have been even better to show Gripper interacting with his ‘chum’ Stewpot. Stebson: “Whatcha Stewart…long time eh!?” Stewpot: “What you doing ‘ere Stebson?” I thought they collared you and your mate Rees for thieving from the staff room a few months ago?” Stebson: “Not a very festive way to speak to your old mate Uncle Gripper. Season of good will an’ all that” Stewpot: “Good will? A scumbag like you! Don’t make me laugh Stebson” Stebson: “You wanna watch your mouth Stewart! You and me got a lot of unfinished business. I ain’t forgotten ‘ow you and your mates got me slung out of this dump” TBC
In this episode is Mr Nick Smart’s and Gripper Stebson’s final appearance HOORAY. Serves them right. Gripper Stebson honestly first appeared in Grange Hill in series 4 in 1981 and survived until series 8 in 1985. Mr Nick Smart honestly first appeared in Grange Hill in series 6 in 1983 and survived until series 8 in 1985. They won’t come back anymore. 😊
They're being a bit stupid at 07:14 over the appearance of the donkey at the Christmas Fair! What was the point of screaming and running away like that??!!
McCluskey allowed Gripper off on numerous occasions for fighting, stealing, bullying, extortion, damage to school property, not doing homework, ignoring detentions and bunking off lessons. She was a soft touch.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?
Roland is a hypocrite. He’s spent the last three years being incredibly rude to Janet - even shoving her away at one point. Now he’s being polite because he wants a free Christmas lunch.
That Janet really gets on my nerves sometimes. Why are you doing with, shouldn't you do that.... Grrr i dont blame Roly for trying to keep away from her
Gonch and Hollo what legends
Gonch and Hollo walking to the bus stop after helping clear up.
Gonch: “And a happy new year? You prat Hollo”
Hollo: “What? Just wishing everyone a happy new year. What’s wrong with that?”
Gonch: “Prat”
I've literally just cried at the ending of this Christmas special...thank you so much uploader ❤
Mr Bronson sounded quite upset when he read the note on Harriet.
I feel for poor old Rowly. He was in the zone. The zone, Janet!
Anyone notice that the brass band is a load of adults dressed to look like unconvincing school kids 😂
I like the way miss booth was trying so hard not to laugh when Gonch pushed her in the tank
I tried (and failed) not to laugh at Hollo’s pathetic “and a happy new year” at the end.
And a happy new year!
Shut up Hollo.

6:09 "Enjoy that, did you?" "Magic, mate!" "So pleased. Next!"

Gripper’s smirk was full of total contempt for Baxter. Also, Stebson got a bit of revenge for Baxter sticking his face into a toilet sink in series 6.
lol at the fall 0:04 -worst fall ever!
Gripper to Roland: “Alright Gutsy! You remember you old mate Uncle Gripper”
Roland: “What are you doing here Gripper?”
Gripper: “I ain’t forgot you still owe me 20p in GCE payment. Pay up or you go to hospital!”
0:14 "It's worse than Wales vs England in the Triple Crown in there!" Baxter must be a Five Nations supporter!
Roland oh Roland
The final appearance of Gripper. I'm surprised he didn't get jailed for the thieving.
I thought he ruined the play stage too but it was Banks n his mate
He naturally had a scary face
i was surprised the school let an expelled pupil back on site.
I was surprised that Imelda Davis, Grange Hill's Bully #2, appeared in this episode as well, possibly her first as I didn't see her before. So the two LEGENDARY GRANGE HILL BULLIES got to be in the same episode!
Would have been a nice touch if Gripper had also interacted with Stewpot and Roland. A lot of history between them.
Baxter stuck Stebson’s face into one of the school toilet sinks in season 6. Stebson finally gets his own back!
6:08 No way!...it looked like sweet revenge for a certain old GH baddy....

@@Matt571 Shame as the chap playing Mr Smart was a very good actor.
That's one crafty donkey....
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!.... bless Hollo
Shut up Hollo!
Never seen this b4

Kids are kids they like shout and scream
That was some bump between Gonch, Hollo, and Ronnie. Plus it must be confusing for poor Cally knowing u essentially have 2 mums
Was it ever revealed if he did what punishmant Garderner received for pushing Davies in to the bath?
Probably nothing. This was back in the days when if girls acted like thugs all and sundry didn't protect them like they do nowadays.
McCluskey allowed Gripper off on numerous occasions for fighting, stealing, bullying, extortion, damage to school property, not doing homework, ignoring detentions and bunking off lessons. She was a soft touch.
Why is Jackie Wright listed in this episode ? I can't see her
I wonder why they had one kid wishing a New Year, so Rolland faked he had booked a trip to France in the storyline hadn't he?
Trevor in this looks like Steve Davis's younger brother

Row land
did roly ever make it to france? what happened with the guys rigging the game? another filler ep really.
Imelda and Banks were rubbish in comparison to Gripper.
Dreadful episode
Hollo’s irritating “and a happy new year” was dreadful but brilliant to see Gripper back.
That Janet really gets on my nerves sometimes. Why are you doing with, shouldn't you do that.... Grrr i dont blame Roly for trying to keep away from her
Ro-land changed his opinion of Janet when she offered him a free Christmas lunch.
Absolute bilge
