  • On January 29th, an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided midair, crashing into the icy Potomac River near Reagan Washington National Airport. The helicopter, a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk with the call sign PAT25, had three people aboard. The CRJ700 regional jet, operated by PSA Airlines and carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, was built in 2010 and is part of a fleet of around 260. The crash involved a Bombardier aircraft, with production of the CRJ700 ceasing in 2020 after Mitsubishi Heavy Industries acquired the program. Investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing.
