Early gameplay looking legit fun! I know it's super early, but I do agree that damage is way too high as is. I do got the feeling everyone starting with max meter is just for the test build (and that's why certain moves that look like 'EX' moves aren't costing meter) but if left as is and only one round matches are gonna be crazy fast. Please consider lowering the overall damage (and perhaps slowing the timer tics a little too). I'm glad every character keeps their original themes (including RWBY). I really enjoy everyone's music a lot so it'll be fun to mix and match. Also, character select screen is a placeholder but it looks very colorful and lively so I hope they keep that vibe. That said, if anyone remembers Capcom vs. SNK 1, the character rows actually extend to the sides, so bank on seeing more than '7 per series', especially since they've confirmed BlazBlue will have slightly more characters than the other three series (and it also seems to confirm that RWBY will have more than just Ruby Rose... so make way for that Weiss Schnee reveal already!) Speaking of, I wonder if RWBY will have any home stages in the game... Lastly for now, please have special team interactions. Would love to see interactions between Ragna/Jin on the same team, same with Hyde/Linne or Ruby/Yang or Ruby/Weiss before battles.

I doubt P5 arena will have Guilty Gear graphics. Arksys is split into 2 teams, Team Red and Team Blue. Team Blue uses high res sprites to make games like BlazBlue and P4. Team Red uses the 3d cel-shading to make their games look like an anime, like Guilty Gear. Right now Team Red is focused on Dragon Ball FighterZ. They are gonna have their hands full even after the game comes out with DLC. Plus they are still working on GG too. Would be nice but either way P5 Arena will be beautiful.
For the people who keep saying the damage seems too high, we have to account 2 things: 1. The recourses spent (Are They in Resonance Blaze, which is only available when somebody dies, and how much meter do they use in that combo to do so much damage) 2. This is a team game, if we were to base this off of BB health system average hp is 11K. If we double that that's like 22K health a game assuming every character has same/similar HP. The damage being dealt from said games is more likely than not to be doubled because of the fact that you are fighting 2 characters, which makes sense in a way. An example of when Jin did the raw super while in Resonance Blaze and it did a lot of damage, if you cut that in half that's about as much as it would do in BB. You must take these into account when discussing damage in general.

Though I'm still hoping that they actually bring back the English voice actors for BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena for this one instead of cheaping out again by not including one.

It really feels like damage is WAY too high. You just overdrive for invul frames and do a small combo that does like 6k... 🤔?? Also overhead into super is meterless? That's silly.
So in other words you've never played an ArcSys game, maybe even anime fighter in general. If you look at the health bars, damage accumulates very fast, but red health also recovers significantly faster. Comboing into a super has always been free, they have huge obvious tells that are incredibly easy to avoid in neutral. On the same note, that's also why they universally have startup invulnerability. Not to mention that with as harsh scaling as the game seems to have combined with combos being shorter I don't think you will see any character being instantly deleted outside of some swaggy max level combos
I see people complaining about the game... but I don't see anyone complaining about the lack of information about consoles in which this game will be released...
Ruby's moveset seems somewhat similar to Labrys. I'm pretty good with Labrys, (Shadow Asterius specifically,) so I'll definitely be playing Ruby as a primary.
I wish they change the character select screen, and that VS screen in the near future; 1. Character select blocks should be shared together instead of being separated. 2. 0:09 the "VS" doesn't necessary have to be there as the word "Cross" already representing the former, words overlaying another words isn't great you know. Even the color is green looking out of place. 3. Why do I have to choose the order for my team during the VS screen, I thought it was already decided on the selection screen? 4. Those game logos where they came from aren't really necessary, the color behind them already did the job. Blazblue - Blue Persona - Yellow UNIEL - Violet RWBY - Red Also please announce Hakumen as soon as possible so I can play Jin along with him.
i agree and about the third one of course you must choose the order of your team like KOF 2003 AND XI style For example if your team is Ragna and Jin you must choose the order between them if you wanna go first with Ragna or Jin go ahead, its up to you.
For what it is, it looks super fun if also maybe a little confusing. Even more so than typical cross over fighters. Early stages of this game look like I'm going to need to get my hands on it. Also, hopefully that line up of character slots from each represented series increases as the development team settles on and becomes more comfortable with a consistent formula for characters.
Love Love Love it. Hoping for at least 10-14 characters from each series (hell, add them all of you can) and the damage to be nerfed. That current damage output is going to make rounds end way too fast- or at lease give us the option to change health settings/combat speed etc (like Marvel VS Capcom 2). I will be buying this.
Hopefully this being a pre-alpha build means that they'll improve the voices for Hyde and Linne. They sound comparatively horrendous compared to their regular voice quality.
Kinda hoping they alter Ruby’s voice as well. I’m used to her voice unlike some of the people here, but I have to say that she sounds way too excited during some of her attacks.
I love the art and animation of the game so far, but I feel like the sound design could use some work. Also I find it weird that Ruby doesn't have her Japanese VA for this version. I get that the show's originally in English, but it just kinda feels weird. Hopefully there'll be a dual audio for the final release. Also these moves do way too much damage, god damn.

For anyone wondering why the damage is too high, probably because this is a tag team fight therefore both characters have to share their lives. Same thing has done to Tekken tag 2 whereas solos have higher lives than teams. One thing ArcSys needs to do is add some more arounds for the match to last longer.
So i like 2 of the Series(Blazblue and Rwby) am interested in the other two (Persona and Under Night in birth) So could anyone else explain why i should play the other two series. Also want Arcana Heart Melty blood and Skullgirls.
Opening in Awe I would go with Under Night first. I've heard great things about it and the gameplay looks fun. Persona 4 Arena is a sequel to Persona 4/Golden, which plays completely different from the Arena games. So if you want to get into a good dungeon crawling JRPG series (you can start with 4 without missing anything major) Persona is a good one. You can also skip just to Arena if you don't care about spoilers. Arena does brief character introductions in some storylines anyway. I can recommend Skullgirls. It's fun, has nice art, and good story. However, it can be harsh as you have to be very fast with the button inputs and the final boss is cheap. Fuuka's boss in particular is difficulty locked on nightmare mode. However, despite this it's still a fun experience and the game has a lot of charm. A great fighting game.
I actually like the fact Ruby is in it and hope the other RWBY members get in as well. The fact she does not speak Japanese I find adorable. I hope this game comes out on steam.....I want it.
Most complain for the 7 characters only..... Give them time. You see later that they will add more as DLC (like any othet Fighting game of today). Patience will be the key factor for this game.

I think the reason they are doing this kind of select-your-character-screen is so the player don't get lost when choosing character, they could make like Marvel Vs Capcom 2 screen but with 4 different franchise they surely decided this design instead!

The inconsistency of having English VAs for RWBY and Japanese VAs for everything else is really bugging me, more than MvC or Tekken ever have. Number one feature I'd really want to have is dual audio and an English dub so we could play with full-on Japanese or full-on English. But knowing ArcSys and Aksys, they probably won't bother...

Biribiri-Chan they have confirmed that they gave the characters less health to balance out the fact that it's a tag - fighter as well as the fact that personas can not be broken so that Persona characters don't have a huge handicap compared to the rest of the cast
God I love arc systems works this looks gorgeous and it's combining all these cool franchises some which I'll be introduced to for the first time and knowing this company they'll make it worthwhile

I like how Under Night in-birth characters being put in Blazblue has a different feel and atmosphere from their own game, in which these two games are a contrast to each other. UNIEL has some of the most unique fighting game feel and atmosphere, when you start playing it, it feels different from playing the usual Arcsys games, just like how playing SNK games feels different from playing Capcom games.

I wish they change the character select screen, and that VS screen in the near future;
1. Character select blocks should be shared together instead of being separated.
2. 0:09 the "VS" doesn't necessary have to be there as the word "Cross" already representing the former, words overlaying another words isn't great you know. Even the color is green looking out of place.
3. Why do I have to choose the order for my team during the VS screen, I thought it was already decided on the selection screen?
4. Those game logos where they came from aren't really necessary, the color behind them already did the job.

For what it is, it looks super fun if also maybe a little confusing. Even more so than typical cross over fighters. Early stages of this game look like I'm going to need to get my hands on it. Also, hopefully that line up of character slots from each represented series increases as the development team settles on and becomes more comfortable with a consistent formula for characters.

Love Love Love it. Hoping for at least 10-14 characters from each series (hell, add them all of you can) and the damage to be nerfed. That current damage output is going to make rounds end way too fast- or at lease give us the option to change health settings/combat speed etc (like Marvel VS Capcom 2). I will be buying this.
Hopefully this being a pre-alpha build means that they'll improve the voices for Hyde and Linne. They sound comparatively horrendous compared to their regular voice quality.
Kinda hoping they alter Ruby’s voice as well. I’m used to her voice unlike some of the people here, but I have to say that she sounds way too excited during some of her attacks.

I get that the show's originally in English, but it just kinda feels weird. Hopefully there'll be a dual audio for the final release.

For anyone wondering why the damage is too high, probably because this is a tag team fight therefore both characters have to share their lives. Same thing has done to Tekken tag 2 whereas solos have higher lives than teams. One thing ArcSys needs to do is add some more arounds for the match to last longer.
So i like 2 of the Series(Blazblue and Rwby) am interested in the other two (Persona and Under Night in birth)

Under night is an excellent game, been playing the latest version for quite some time now...the American version is coming in February.
Opening in Awe I would go with Under Night first. I've heard great things about it and the gameplay looks fun. Persona 4 Arena is a sequel to Persona 4/Golden, which plays completely different from the Arena games. So if you want to get into a good dungeon crawling JRPG series (you can start with 4 without missing anything major) Persona is a good one. You can also skip just to Arena if you don't care about spoilers. Arena does brief character introductions in some storylines anyway.
I can recommend Skullgirls. It's fun, has nice art, and good story. However, it can be harsh as you have to be very fast with the button inputs and the final boss is cheap. Fuuka's boss in particular is difficulty locked on nightmare mode. However, despite this it's still a fun experience and the game has a lot of charm. A great fighting game.
I actually like the fact Ruby is in it and hope the other RWBY members get in as well. The fact she does not speak Japanese I find adorable.

I think the reason they are doing this kind of select-your-character-screen is so the player don't get lost when choosing character, they could make like Marvel Vs Capcom 2 screen but with 4 different franchise they surely decided this design instead!

The inconsistency of having English VAs for RWBY and Japanese VAs for everything else is really bugging me, more than MvC or Tekken ever have.
Number one feature I'd really want to have is dual audio and an English dub so we could play with full-on Japanese or full-on English. But knowing ArcSys and Aksys, they probably won't bother...

I also remember in Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, Alex, Urien, Gill, Dudley, Hugo, and Necro had English voice actors while everyoner else had Japanese voice actors.
I am genuinely hype for this game now. I wasn't the biggest fan of P4 and I hadn't heard of Undernight until this announcement. I loved RWBY and BlazBlue and thought I would only be hyped up for a RWBY fighter and a new BlazBlue but now, and the more I see, I can't wait!

No more then a Blazblue fight when no one is blocking. The hp is halfed for each character so it feels like a lot more.
Yeah, I was thinking they put the damage high for now so that maybe they could get the lines moving at these demo events. Just my theory.

I like how Under Night in-birth characters being put in Blazblue has a different feel and atmosphere from their own game, in which these two games are a contrast to each other. UNIEL has some of the most unique fighting game feel and atmosphere, when you start playing it, it feels different from playing the usual Arcsys games, just like how playing SNK games feels different from playing Capcom games.
