    When I'm feeling lazy, I don't bother separating the egg white and yolk nor chopping them, I just smash them into small pieces like an uncivilized monster 😅

      I use one of those things like sieve but with bigger holes, they're typically used for potato salad, and yolk mashes, while egg whites are in little cubes

    For those of you who don't know, Japanese mayo is also called Kewpie mayo you can find it at most Asian grocery stores. Kewpie mayo has more egg yolk in it than American mayo so there is a taste / consistency difference.

    What is japanese mayo?

    • @ChristieatHome
      @ChristieatHome  ปีที่แล้ว +15

      A creamier mayo made only of egg yolk unlike normal mayo which is both yolk and whites.

      The most popular brand of Japanese mayo is Kewpie. You should be able to get it at any Asian grocery store. If you're unable to get it, there are some recipes online of how to make Japanese mayo. You can use regular mayo, but it won't taste the same.

    Looks good but that's a very long-winded process of making a egg salad sandwich after waiting to boil the eggs 😂 I have absolutely zero patience: EVERYTHING is getting smashed with a fork in the bowl after peeling and then at least will add the mayo and seasonings last then mix everything all in less than five minutes because I'm hungry by the time I decide to make this snack 😅

    Is there a difference between this version and the regular version? I've been making egg sandwiches my whole life. I have a few different recipes that I enjoy but this seems basic. Unless I've been making a Japanese recipe this whole time without realizing it. My go to recipe is mayo, mustard, relish, salt and pepper though.

    Is there a difference between running the egg yolk through a sifter and just crushing them with fork?

    • @ChristieatHome
      @ChristieatHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      The main difference is that it won't be as yellow in color like in the ones sold in Japan. That's the only difference. Taste wise, it'll be the same.

    • @ChristieatHome
      @ChristieatHome  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's mainly to bring out the yellow color so it looks similar to the ones sold in Japan. Taste wise, it's the same if you mash with a fork.
