Romería Zapopan 4K Walking Tour
The Romería Zapopan is a religious and cultural tradition dating back to 1734 and is celebrated annually in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The procession begins at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Guadalajara and arrives at the Basilica of Zapopan, covering a distance of 9 kilometers.
Route of the Procession
The route of the procession begins at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Guadalajara and continues along Avenida Vallarta, then turns towards Avenida América and finally reaches the Arco de Zapopan, where one enters the Basilica of Zapopan.
Dancers and Music
The Romería Zapopan features the participation of more than 35,000 dancers, representatives of different native dance groups, who accompany the image of the Virgin of Zapopan on its journey. The sound of drums, maracas and the smell of copal create an exciting and religious atmosphere.
