I. have the Master 9, it is an excellent amp. it is also a pre amp. it is heavy because of the R transforrmer. Drives may Audeze lcd3 and Senheiser hd800s. I use it with Gustard x20 pro. also pure balanced with acss mini xlr.
I've got that M9 (2017 edition) too, I absolutely love it. However it has a little disadvantage, it takes a time to be heated up and operrate at it's finest. I've paired up with a HD800S.
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
Thank you for your review. I’ve enjoyed them all very much. One question on Phonitor XE. Do you think it has enough power to drive the Audeze LCD-4 easily?
William, have you heard any feedback about the Master 9 HE and how it compares to your M9. I just ordered the R-8HE. I guess I will find out how well I like their r2r dacs. I wished for some feedback before I placed order but all I heard was people blaming Audio-GD that have never heard their dacs. I purchased off the way I really like the Master 9. Well built. I can upgrade to the M9HE but am waiting to hear feedback. Thanks again for your in depth reviews.
From what I have read. There is little difference in sound between the Master 9, and HE-9. The HE-9 has a little tighter tolerances in the specs, and then of course it has power regeneration, that the M-9 doesn't. I'm guessing that might lower the noise floor a bit?
I had the same question, posted it to SPL & here was their response, "Hi! There are always small differences between these devices because of the PCM layout, but basically the sound the same! Regards!", I ended up getting the X as the E is no longer in production & could not find it anywhere else in the U.K
I just caught my math mistake on temperatures. Sorry about that, I can't go back and change it now. It took me 21 hours to upload this.
I really like those reviews you've done on the Phonitor.
Thank you.
Thank you for this review! Helps a lot!

Master 9 is pure class A.

I agree. It needs about 15 minutes of warm up time to sound good, and an hour to reach full operating temperature.

I'm sorry, I honestly don't know.
Hello William. Quick question. Did you leave the Phonitor sitting on top of the Master 9 while they were running?
No, that was just for the photo. The M-9 gets pretty warm.
William, thanks for the review.
Thanks for your great review William. Which one of the both you would like to prefer?

I like spl phonitor e, smaller size. Is there sonic diff between xe & e?
I have never heard the "e" model. but maybe someone else out there knows?

Would be interesting to see you try something with more flavor and still good technicality like a DNA Stratus/Stellaris for example.
One of those is way better than the other.
