New 'sonos' member here, having watched quite a few videos here on TH-cam, I must say you're the only person to mention you need an IOS device to set up trueplay! I spent too much time thinking I had a dodgy speaker! I only had to grab one of my kids iPads to set up trueplay, well worth it!🎉
This video makes it look so easy. I just bought this thing, and the S2 app can't seem to recognize it. Instead, it keeps trying to connect to my old Play 5, which isn't even plugged in. I can't even access the system or settings portions of the app for some reason (they are greyed out), so I can see if it's connecting to my wifi. And when I try to login to my sonos account, it tells me that the device isn't connected to the internet. Everything else in the house is connected without problem. This is all very frustrating. I generally expect products to become more refined and user friendly over time, but this sonos speaker is more difficult to use than the one I bought 9 years ago. I happily would have just bought a simpler blue tooth speaker if I'd had any idea what I was in for. I don't appreciate having to take time out of my day to call their support hotline. Has anyone else encountered these problems, and how did they solve them.
To avoid consufusion for some people, to make sure it's flashing green bress down the button above the cable for a few seconds and it'll alternate red and white and eventually it'll be green.
I bought this today not knowing that this device not friendly Bluetooth. The sound quality is good, now I have to buy sonos sound bar to make it work on TV so I can listen TH-cam music. If you are Bluetooth friendly user don't think about sonos one, you will end up with disappointment.
I love how he says it finds your speaker automatically. I have moved house and changed network provider twce. EVERY time I do this, my Sonos One just works, my SL and Roam are a right nightmare and I spend ages trying to get them to connect. Usually give up and try a bit later in the week, then for some weird reason, they just connect. Basically, very rubbish software oif you use an Android phone and that is with the updated and apparently Android friendly S2 app. I would get rid of all but the One but they are so expensive that I just spend ages setting them up and then one day, they just lose the network again. :( Hate these things with a vengeance, one day I will replace them with something cheaper that just works. Sound is great though!
If you own an Apple Macbook / Mac, then you can use AirPlay 2 to send the audio from the laptop to the speakers, otherwise, there's no other way to listen to TH-cam on Sonos from your laptop unfortunately and you'd need to use a different device.
Thx! But do everyone need to be logged into the app in order to use the speakers? I mean other deviced in my network, can they cast whatever they want to the Sonor Speaker, without using the Sonos App? Like how the Chromecast work?
That’s where I am now. I did get a pair of these to work in my first house for 6 months until they glitched out. That house didn’t have great wifi so I hoped in a new house with better wifi they would work better. After reinstalling the app, following all the prompts and a lot of waiting, every time it says, “Your mobile device couldn’t connect to your SYMFONISK Bookshelf. Move closer and make sure it’s powered on.” It’s on and my device is sitting on the SYMFONISK, both 2 feet from my modem. SONOS might be a good system for one user with good reliable wifi who will stay in only one residence. I will never get back the frustrating hours I have spent trying to nurse these things into life, so much of that time thinking to my self “I should have just bought a record player”. What ever they did in this system, it did not need to be so complicated.
Hi Mesha, as long as your guests have access to your WiFi network, they can download the Sonos App and access your system but the quickest way would be through Spotify Connect or AirPlay 2 (if they have an iPhone). I hope this helps.
So far very disappointed. So difficult app.this press here do that. After sting my speaker on the wall with the brakes have to take them down to press the button. How frustrating. I wanted something simple and it's passing me off.
Such a beautiful product but absolutely horrendous user experience. Did the creators even try use it themselves? Connecting to WiFi is a nightmare. How can they make such a horrible and painful experience.
Great video Thanks. Garbage product. Can it be any harder to listen to dam music? Many many comparable products that set up easily. Blue tooth?????? Not easily. Sonos for sale, highest bidder.
@@Terrifier1984 I'm not happy with it. I had it working for a bit until our power went out and it had to be all set up again. It doesn't work with blue tooth, so my IPod music is a no. It worked with Google play which is now TH-cam music, since the change you need to have TH-cam premium or it won't work. The passwords and access it wants to all your accounts is outrageous. I just want music. Press play and listen, not an option. I would not recommend this product.
GFK GFK what you really mean is you didn't research the product you were buying to make sure it was suitable for what you wanted. Sonos do other speakers that do support bluetooth. You are pissed that you bought the wrong model. Its like buying a Tesla then complaining you have nowhere to put the gas.

No green light, just flashing white light only ?

You can add TH-cam music to the Sonos App via the music services option. Hope this helps.
Mine don’t go green
This might be an ok video but if the bloody sonos doesnt work how would i know?
Great video but my speakers simply do not connect...they'll be going back to the shop tomorrow...

Yeah a real pita to connect
I agree !! Its wait too fussy what it connects .
So do you need to have streaming music services to use Sonos or can I just play TH-cam music videos from my laptop...... thanks.

A Walkman is better than this

Nope. Step one fail.
ONCE you move house, they NEVER EVER EVER EVER work again.

I can't find out from anyone whether these damn speak as a wireless and not
I got NONE of this in my android app
So far very disappointed. So difficult app.this press here do that. After sting my speaker on the wall with the brakes have to take them down to press the button. How frustrating. I wanted something simple and it's passing me off.
sonos, you lost me at “create an account”. bye!
Nice video
Followed the directions, still not set up.
Not to happy to install. So complicated. After installing speakers too wall brakes have to take them down again just to push button
Won the one sl in a raffle at christmas. still not connected. Poor set up instructions. Sonos will not be replacing my Bose V22 lifestyle system.
i wish we could just plug it in lol

I’m so disappointed with this Sonos crap
Great video Thanks. Garbage product. Can it be any harder to listen to dam music? Many many comparable products that set up easily. Blue tooth?????? Not easily. Sonos for sale, highest bidder.
So wait the sonos will give that kind of trouble ?

You can’t just connect via Bluetooth. Ridiculous.
What a nightmare. To the trash it goes!✌️
Why don’t they just have Bluetooth 💀
Sonos is a horrible speaker.
Absolutely complicated. Big no no
Beofre I go throug with this, may I say...this is silly af!
It's so over complicated don't buy it, it's constantly forgetting me and I'm having to re do this all the time
Doesnt connect. Taking it back for a refund.
I HATE THIS SPEAKER OH MY GOD
These are so awful. Wish I’d never bought it. God awful connection and really long process to connect it. Avoid
I REGRET buying SONOS. App is poor and connecting in not easy at all. Waste of my money.
