As a fellow dog mom, don’t be afraid to set boundaries with people and scoop Fergie up and away from people/dogs. It took a long time, and lots of tears on my part to train out reactivity. An “in training / do not pet” vest works wonders. And for the teenage phase, tiring them out to the point where they don’t have the energy to be little monsters was the best strategy for us 😂 Love the wholesome Sunday content 😊
I forever appreciate how open you are about your mental health. I have bipolar too, and I actually found you through your podcast, and just, I've never related so much to when someone else talks about mental health ever. Thank you for your openness, and your vlogs/tiktoks/instagrams/etc are all so wonderful. You're amazing!
I used to shop for yarn at craft store chains, and finding a local yarn shop has changed the game!! So many beautiful options for a better price and smaller brands that make incredible fibers! I know you like trying to make simple everyday things feel more luxurious or special, and this definitely does the trick while supporting local businesses!
I totally feel you on the puppy problems. Get comfortable saying “No thank you! We are working on training him and would prefer you not touch today” I also found that a Hermsprenger (sp?) collar worked well for us. We also invested in Obedience 101 with a professional trainer - she is actually who recommended the collar. It’s a bit scary looking, but totally harmless and very effective for leash training!
watched this while having a tea/knitting on the couch next to my (four year old) puppy on a Sunday afternoon. Literally feel the same with people approaching my dog on walks. I have found that generally just keeping her in a heel right at my side in busy areas, and saying "not friendly" (even though she's the absolute sweetest) or "she's working hard right now" does the trick, as sometimes she can get really anxious when people approach her (especially running), if I can tell she's relaxed then I'll ok the interaction. Thank you for the immaculate (and real) vibes Mary!
The vitamin C effects are killed with the hot water 💗 it’s very unstable. In hospital we have to keep it in the fridge. If you want the benefits of of vitamin C have it in cooler water 💗 but either way the drink looks yum! Such a comforting video as always!
It will never change when out in public with your dog, I’ve had my dogs since they were puppies and are now 6 and 5 and people still fall all over them, it’s made training them so hard and I still struggle with training them to behave around people, part of being a dog mom
We luckily live in an area that has been very kind about asking before petting our Aussie but one thing my sister in law did to deter people was to get her malinois a vest that says “I’m working” or “in training.” People see a vest and tend to respect that
that’s such a good idea!!! I just want him to have enough time to fully be trained but our area is so busy that it’s hard to take him out to quiet areas at times. love the idea of a training vest!!
@@MarySkinner also! Joann’s and other craft stores are often dog friendly. The noises and people are a great training/socializing/desensitizing opportunity. Our Aussie is going through a fear period so we’ve been socializing every opportunity we get and the craft stores are the most supportive I’ve noticed
Just so you know there is a bad canine respiratory infection going around so be careful taking your pup to the dog park/anywhere with lots of dogs right now! If he is vaccinated for bordatella that should help tho 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 Vet trips are hella expensive for respiratory stuff
also i 1000% feel you on being kind of annoyed at people coming up to you constantly when you’re trying to walk your dog, like i get it they’re cute but im just trying to get through a training walk🤣
people petting my dog without asking me is such a big pet peeve. luckily she’s a sweetheart but they would have no clue just going straight up to her 😭😭
Girl protect your dog! People approaching like that can create reactivity. Put an “in training” badge on him and “do not pet” badges on him. Get a shirt that says “ignore my dog”. Start swatting people away and being a bitch. I had to learn the hard way and now my dog is over reactive from excitement when he sees people and other dogs. You don’t owe anyone anything + people should know better!
I absolutely love your home decor updates but I was wondering since you’re moving across continents (relatively) soon, what are you going to do with all that new furniture?
Another really irritating thing with having a puppy in public is when you are trying to teach them not to jump on people and strangers encourage them to jump up because they think it's cute 🙄
When I was teaching my now 1 year old dog not to jump on people it always irritated me when I would tell her no jumping and they’d be like oh it’s fine I don’t mind. Like great but I do I don’t want her doing that.
I could write a novel about how weird people are with my dog! We got him at the start of the teenage phase a year ago and the amount of times I have to ask people to honor his boundaries and body language cues in public and even in our own home is awful! The unexpected side effect of getting him is seeing how many people in my life knowingly and confidently bypass mine and my dogs boundaries
I am such a bitch in public with my lab puppy, but it’s only because people will not ask permission to pet him! Don’t be afraid to set boundaries with random people bc it’ll only set Ferg up for success!!
It’s so frustrating when people just go up to dogs. I’m not sure if you know there is a respiratory illness that is highly contagious to dogs going around. It’s highly recommended to not take him around other dogs for now or groomers or boarding and stuff like that. I’m not 100% sure where all it is. I just keep seeing stuff about it on tik tok and google. I just know he’s a puppy and want to let you know just in case. I will say don’t be afraid to tell people know. People get crazy for dogs and it’s not good for you or your dog if you don’t want any strangers randomly coming up to you. I’ve had a fair share of people ignoring me when I said no but I also wasn’t firm.

Also the amount of petting YES drives me nuts too

the ordinary niacinamide
and azelaic acid completely gets rid of my lil texture bumps ✨
loveee niacinamide for my texture!!
wow I am earlyyyy!! ❤
As someone with a reactive dog it bothers me SO MUCH when people just come up to her and pet her. Like bruh not my fault if you get bit 😭

omg exactly!! I’m glad it doesn’t bother you but I’m trying to get him not to do it!!
MAYBE yo needed the basket for the yarn? 🌝🧐😂

It’s sounds like you could have milia which you can get with dry skin

Theres a canine respiratory disease going around so be careful with your baby
