    Super nerd moment but in Critter’s solo on Don’t Give Your Heart to a Rambler there is this awesome moment at around 6:42 where Noam does a chromatic walk up thing with his backup and then Critter immediately plays the same idea but going down. The only one who noticed was Gabe who let out a big grin. How cool!!

      Probably because you havent seen the original. Luke kelly. All day. Theres meaning to this song. These gobshites have tarnished it.

    Really awesome video! I love seeing, around 9:45, Chris communicates to the rest of the band to presumably transition into "Wayside"- amazing how they transitioned so smoothly and held together! Then again they are an experienced band. I love this.

    Unbelievably good video! Punch Brothers play a lot of progressive stuff but this video of straight ahead bluegrass (preceded by the Irish ballad) just blows it away.

    Chris...Son Of Ben!! You are sooo smilingly damn good!! Of course you grew up surrounded by such inspirational people such as the Seldom Scene and all the players that gravitated to them...All the power to you Chris, you lucky dawg!! And so much thanks to your Dad for the love of his banjoistics that I still listen/enjoy, to this day!!!

      Chet Duke they're great at it for sure but I'd miss their sound if they did just that.

    • @amillionstarsband102
      @amillionstarsband102 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, they’ve played countless hours of bluegrass growing up, years and years, probably a bit over it, but thankfully not enough to not give these ya these gems!!

      The mic is on the camera. In the end you can hear how close the audience is.

    These vocals are so in-tune, the overtones are overwhelming the phone's mic. Shit.

  • @youngtoonfish6891
    @youngtoonfish6891 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'm totally a fan of them, but when it comes to "Auld Triangle" they don't even come close to the Dubliners and the great Luke Kelly.

    • @adamkeenan5707
      @adamkeenan5707 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Paul R I agree but a great attempt nonetheless

    • @alan4sure
      @alan4sure 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      And the Dubliners musicianship doesn't even come close to Punch brothers.

    • @adamkeenan5707
      @adamkeenan5707 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      alan4sure that’s irrelevant great technical ability isn’t why The Dubliners are appealing

    • @alan4sure
      @alan4sure 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And sounding like the Dubliners isn't why Punch Brothers are popular. It works both ways...

    • @michaelxriordan
      @michaelxriordan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not wrong, but I think it's definitely the second best rendition. Beats Glen Hansard and Ed Sheeran etc for me, but to each their own :)

  • @sirdigbychickenceasar4474
    @sirdigbychickenceasar4474 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Far to pretentious. Sing it as it is. You've put a swing on parts that wasnt needed.

    • @multiversechorus
      @multiversechorus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's called interpretation. Why is it when someone covers something a bit differently then it's "pretentious". I hate that word.
