Hi Nick, after all that work getting to the hard drive, I would have gone a little further and reapplied the thermal compound on that 6 year old laptop. The old compound has probably dried out and turned into concrete 😁👍
How are you. I disassembled a similar laptop and my first impression was that it does not have a fan, and I thought they had already disassembled it and removed the fan, but I see your video and it is the same, it does not have a fan and apparently it is so, right? I also wanted to know if the laptop works, and I wanted to connect it to a monitor since I remove the screen from the laptop, if I can or what do I need?
I need to know how to remove the motherboard to install more ram. Memory is cheap for this machine but it looks like taking apart a Japanese car to work on it kind of in comparison.
Will the laptop perform much better with a SSD? Would I get the same increase in performance if I just doubled the RAM from 4 GB to 8GB in your opinion? I am running windows 10 on mine.
You will definitely see a huge improvement in performance with Windows 10 with a SSD upgrade, even with 4GB RAM. I would put in the SSD before increasing the RAM, although you would only need to take out a few more screws and probably disconnect some cables to get the motherboard out to swap the RAM.
@@CubeComputerChannel That's great, thank you for your answer! I use my laptop mostly just for watching videos on youtube but sometimes it has buffering issues despite a strong internet connection. I will take your advice, thanks again!
@@CubeComputerChannel thats what i feared. i dont know how to exactly do that part i got as far as opening it up but i was wasnt in the mood to tinker with it any further tonight.
@@CubeComputerChannel ok. i just seen a video where its nearly the same inside, they showed the process. but i have to figure out how many slots this one has. if it has only 1 then i cant do anything right now. my model number is hp 15-r132wm

Thanks. I’m trying to upgrade my ram.

So I ripped the power ribbon so now the power button doesn’t work on my computer but is there a way I can still turn it on?
office laptops were designed so that staff couldn't pull ram or hdd's easily. it's supposed to be that way.
What kind of screwdriver are you using? The small ones I have aren’t working. I just want to remove the hard drive.
Thanks
Just a standard precision screwdriver set and xacto knife

How do you add ram card to this model?
Remove the motherboard and the memory slots are likely on the bottom.

@@theshepherdsambassador5146 It's likely the equivalent of tearing it down in this video, plus just a few screws and the motherboard should come out.

That's why I stick with older Dell Latitudes and Precisions. Will never buy one of these. I tend I to use my laptops for 10 to 20 years.
