I live in In the Indianapolis area. Most of the places listed in this video the homes are overpriced along with everything else and because the towns attracts well off families there is crime and drugs. That no one wants to talk about. I don’t suggest moving to any of these places in less you want high property tax, over crowed school, and crowded neighborhoods that will be nothing but rentals in less than ten years.
Like my mom has dug me and my sister into bad neighborhoods on the east west and south of Indiana, even at one place I woke up to gunshots. Also a person purposely killed my kitten that would perch on my shoulder like a bird and sleep in my shirt.
I am from north Indiana and my favorite place is north Manchester you cam buy a three floor house with a basement and a forth acre of land for very cheap you can go to warvel park and sit down go downtown for lunch go shopping in new market go canoeing with your friends great schools and quietly go to sleep.

And if you don’t know who that is then I will tell you. He was a Frenchman who greatly helped in the Revolutionary War between the colonies and Great Britain. He persuaded the French to send over supplies and boats to help the continental army defeat the British troops.
I was thinking Culver was going to be on here. It has the Culver Military Academy, the second largest natural lake in Indiana, and it has friendly people and nice schools. I love in Culver and it is great.
I live next door in Argos, I think all of Marshall county is nice. All the small towns are very nice and all close to bigger towns and great things to do. We here can love the peaceful slow life.
Proud to have grown up in Columbus. Making plans to live there again. It's always had it's issues but it has more positives than negatives, and it has a personality that no other town I've been to has. Much of that personality is thanks to all the contributions J.I. Miller made to better the town.
Brooke Scheumann that’s really cool at least Fort Wayne is a little like NYC to me because every year on New Year’s Eve, Fort Wayne also has a ball drop which is always located at Parkview field in downtown
Tracy Henderson bruh😒 Fort Wayne has gotten a lot better. The Landing and Promenade Park are coming soon to downtown and lots of people are now walking downtown way more often
I moved from WV to Indiana about a year in a half ago, and I will say this place is the most boring state I’ve ever been to. I flip shit now if I even go over a bump.
A very controversial opinion… In my opinion, here is my list of best places in Indiana… 10: Carmel 9: Indianapolis 8: Fishers 7: Fort Wayne 6: Lebanon 5: Evansville 4: Zionsville 3: Muncie (JK Munster) 2: Bloomington 1: Brownsburg This is VERY controversial, and I can see it. I think people will take Brownsburg, a town ranked #1 in 2009 and #33 in the nation, as a safe, kind, smart, and rich place to live. The living is nice and polite. I personally do not live there (because I have my preferences) but this is definitely a great place to live. THIS IS MY OPINION!!
I'm sorry but if you chose Columbus over Bloomington then I think your data might be off. I'm actually shocked that Bloomington is not on here. I wouldn't say it is in the top 5 but easily the top 10.
Definitely not in the top 20. Bloomington has an extremely high crime rate, for violent crimes they are 30% higher than the Indiana average and 36% higher than the national average. Unemployment rates are higher in Bloomington than Columbus. The average cost of homes is higher in Bloomington, yet the median household income is about 15,000 less in Bloomington than Columbus.
@@justcause9334 That's just not true. Lived here my whole life. Seldom have I ever heard of any violent crimes nor do I hear anything outside of theft. You also must realize that about a third of the population lives within the Indiana University realm. Not every student works nor does every student have access to good paying jobs.
@@ShawnSmith-ns5gr It is true and you can research it for yourself. The "Seldom have I" argument is a moot point we are talking about overall. In your own response, you proved my point, unemployment is high, and it is hard to find good-paying jobs. The reason for unemployment varies from one place to another. It doesn't change the fact the unemployment rate is high.
@@justcause9334 The most frequent crime by far is theft and is reported more often than EVERY other crime put together. You make it sound like it is a deathtrap here and it isn't lol! It's a very nice, peaceful, and safe community. A large university full of young college students who like to go out to the bars can cause the raucous which is probably where the "assaults" come into play and I would also add that it, unfortunately, contributes to rape. But the town also has a lower than average murder, robbery, and vehicle theft rate. University living is a completely different world than the people who actually live here.
Which bloomington? The IU/downtown bubble or the rest of town. Job market for the average Joe isn't really that great+lots of heroine. Lots of culture and very beautiful town. Brown county is amazing
I actually lived in Bloomington and depending on which side of town you are on. The north side is the poorest side of town followed by the West side. The richest side is the east side where the fanciest and most expensive houses are. Unfortunately I lived in a mobile home park on the north side now I live 15 minutes away from the Indiana/Illinois border.
Westfield also is home to grand park and is growing fast. Less than a year ago we built a house for around 287,000$ and it already is nearing being able to be sold for almost 400,000$ the schools are amazing and we are all super athletic.
I live in Greenwood Indiana. Love the town and it’s a good place to raise a family. However, it’s close to Indianapolis and it’s getting violent too. You can find that anywhere.
Lot of jobs in these towns the rich kids won't work and the parents don't make them guess they will live with them till there 40 years old so if u need a job come to flashers noblesville and get one we need the help.
Ok first off i live in indianapolis an last time i check indianapolis is #1 of all crime which why our police officers go an train in chicago then cone to indianapolis
We moved from NJ. built a place in Westfield and cost of living here is cheap as shit compared back in Jersey. Especially property taxes. We love it here.
Fort Wayne is a very quiet, friendly, and a beautiful city to live in downtown is the heart of Fort Wayne it's walkable lots of new buildings and new attractions are opening this year in the summer of 2019 and I can't wait to visit some of them dang where have the years gone this town has gotten bigger every year and what can I say but just....... #ILoveThisTown My city, my home
That only represents about 35 to 40% at best of Columbus Indiana. Which pretty much sums up about the same percentage of people that would move to Indiana could have a good job and higher paying job and live in the more expensive areas that are listed
@@elliottslayton I compared crimes rates in Columbus to crime rates in different cities in California. I was surprised by the outcome. With so many more activities and diversity in California, I couldn't wish to get out of Indiana any faster. So much for Indiana having "freedom". This place is riddled with fun restricting rules.
We pronounce it Lafeyette honestly but she is using the correct French pronunciation. It is named after the Marquis du Lafayette after all. It's preferable to my hometown of Muncie.
As a kid (and admittedly into my 20s) I only saw the word on the radar channel and it would scroll to fast for me to pronounce it so I always read it as "koo-koos-cose" I mispronounce towns all the time, it's funny.
Actually some of the best places to live in Indy... are in the COUNTRY! We have some of the lowest crime rates and its so peaceful. You dont have to worry about getting picked up of the side of the road. Plus houses are waaay cheaper, and we have some pretty good schools, at least where im from.
daniel Hart III No, both property crime and violent crime rates are much lower in Fort Wayne than Indianapolis. Also lower than Gary, Evansville, and Elkhart. I stopped looking it up after that, but there are probably more.
I guess it just depends on what your looking for. A small town or a huge city. I enjoy my small town with our houses far enough apart where if you want to not be alone you can be, however if you need anything at all you can get the help you need quickly. Also 98% of everyone knows everyone else just from everyone being out walking down the beautiful trails or along the pretty creek looking at the wildlife. My husband has lived in our home sense he was 6 and most of us are happy to invite in strangers for some tea, coffee, or a bottle of water. We have gotten 7 new families that have came to our town this past year and most have recently left (due to their own issues) however we still have some we havent met yet. Our school system is advanced and as we are on Howard Miami county line we don't have a park. Just great friends and neighbors for the most part and the parks are only a 5 minute drive out to Kokomo. The country views and smells are incredible and being 2 minutes from a main highway makes travel super simple. Our crime rate is extremely low as ALL of the crimes have been caused by those whom live someplace else. We have seen the police here twice in the past 7 years I have lived here for petty theft issues. The only thing you see is ambulances to help with mostly the elderly and sick. I absolutely LOVE my town and everyone that I know who lives here. We have 2 churches and 1 convince store/gas station. Almost all of the children know each other and enjoy playing with each other. If you want a super quiet very small town of MAYBE 150 people TOPS we do have a couple of houses that just became available. Its a PERFECT place to raise your family and stay even after they are grown and gone. IUK is a 10 minute drive. I have been here 7 years and there really isnt any other place I would rather raise my daughter plus she will get to graduate from the same school system as her dad. The Wildlife out here is astonishing to watch and hear. I love it ALL! This is Cassville Indiana just north of Kokomo and south of US highway 18 on US highway 31. Come sense the peacefulness of our small town.
I was also born and raised in Fort Wayne it's a very beautiful city everyone here is really nice and Fort Wayne is known as "the best city for minor league sports" lots of NFL players come from here as well the city is home to one of America's oldest hockey teams Fort Wayne is a very family friendly, really quiet city that sure loves country music

I grew up in Terre Haute. I wonder why it didn't make the list. ha! ha! surprised Bloomington didn't make the list nor Nashville. Indiana really does have a great state parks system. The one good thing I can say about Terre Haute is that the parks in the city are excellent.
Rusty? Really? Got news for you. You can get hooked on heroin anywhere. Valparaiso should be on this list but maybe not because they seemed to be aiming for rich people. How how about a list of towns with average good people?
Madison is by far the best smallest city in Indiana. We have a beautiful national park called Clifty falls which you can hike and observe 7 different waterfalls. We have the hydroplane regatta every 4th of July weekend and a massive art festival called chataukwa. It’s a small river town that I’ve decided to raise my 4 daughters in because there’s no hustle and bustle of city life but plenty of things to do to keep us busy and entertained! BTW, Columbus is the closest city to Madison and it’s hugely overrated

I live next door in Argos, I think all of Marshall county is nice. All the small towns are very nice and all close to bigger towns and great things to do. We here can love the peaceful slow life.
Culver has a gorgeous lake! It’s a really cute neighborhood.

Me too :) I live in Fort Wayne
Me too. Ligonier
@@sportscity823 , I lived just south of Fort Wayne in Bluffton.
@@lafleagrande31, I lived in Howe, LaGrange, and Shipshewana.

Proud to have grown up in Columbus. Making plans to live there again. It's always had it's issues but it has more positives than negatives, and it has a personality that no other town I've been to has. Much of that personality is thanks to all the contributions J.I. Miller made to better the town.
😂😂😂😂 Fort Wayne is almost a mini Chicago at this point. Definitely not one of the best. Nice try.
The area with the nicer houses is a safe place to be same with the mall and most shopping areas
Thats because they put all the money on that side. A good place to live is when the whole town is safe not just 10 square miles.
yea ! i live there butt the suburban/ nicer area is (of course) way better than the sout side....
The thing she did mention about Carmel... *Car-mle* is that it is expensive as hell.
I moved from WV to Indiana about a year in a half ago, and I will say this place is the most boring state I’ve ever been to. I flip shit now if I even go over a bump.
With no legal weed laws at that I agree this state sucks dog balls!!
How is Indiana more boring than West Virginia? 😂😂
@@kjs498 at least there is hiking in WV.
Gage French your right boring as hell true statement
Anyone else watching in Indiana hoping your town would pop up, and then being disappointed when it didn’t?
I think they should of had Valparaiso Indiana in there we have an amazing city
Kibber Gdog and portage! They both are pretty good cities

A very controversial opinion… In my opinion, here is my list of best places in Indiana…
10: Carmel
9: Indianapolis
8: Fishers
7: Fort Wayne
6: Lebanon
5: Evansville
4: Zionsville
3: Muncie (JK Munster)
2: Bloomington
1: Brownsburg
This is VERY controversial, and I can see it.
True tho
How are they not going to mention Brown County or Bloomington (Monroe County)?
Which bloomington? The IU/downtown bubble or the rest of town. Job market for the average Joe isn't really that great+lots of heroine. Lots of culture and very beautiful town. Brown county is amazing
I actually lived in Bloomington and depending on which side of town you are on. The north side is the poorest side of town followed by the West side. The richest side is the east side where the fanciest and most expensive houses are. Unfortunately I lived in a mobile home park on the north side now I live 15 minutes away from the Indiana/Illinois border.
I was in Bloomington last weekend for the first time ever. I liked it. Went to Upland brewery and Switch Yard brewery with my dog.
Jocelyn Greene Because that’s not a city....
I've lived in Bloomington for 10 yrs & think it's practically perfect! The bias against Southern Indiana in this vid is glaring.

Nearly 40 years for me. Growing up in rural, ignorant, racist Indiana was an experience.
I live in Greenwood Indiana. Love the town and it’s a good place to raise a family. However, it’s close to Indianapolis and it’s getting violent too. You can find that anywhere.

We moved from NJ. built a place in Westfield and cost of living here is cheap as shit compared back in Jersey. Especially property taxes. We love it here.
I live 30 minutes outside of Munster. Believe me, u don't want to live in munster
Very much agreed . And same .
But Munster has the best hospital and medical I have every experienced! Saved my mother's life and cured my skin issues.

Putting a picture of downtown Lafayette and saying it’s West Lafayette. Smh. Learn more about what you put online before you do it.

Hahahahahahaha. Sure. Live in Indianapolis and dodge bullets every day. Who made this list?
That only represents about 35 to 40% at best of Columbus Indiana. Which pretty much sums up about the same percentage of people that would move to Indiana could have a good job and higher paying job and live in the more expensive areas that are listed
It's so weird how Indiana is one of the best states to live in but we're so forgettable
It's the worst I hate it there's too much crime happening
69 Have you seen California?
@@elliottslayton I compared crimes rates in Columbus to crime rates in different cities in California. I was surprised by the outcome. With so many more activities and diversity in California, I couldn't wish to get out of Indiana any faster. So much for Indiana having "freedom". This place is riddled with fun restricting rules.

We pronounce it Lafeyette honestly but she is using the correct French pronunciation. It is named after the Marquis du Lafayette after all. It's preferable to my hometown of Muncie.
"Fort Wayne is an excellent place to buy an house." Coming from someone who's never lived in indiana
I'm glad she didn't have to say Kosciusko County!
We all know northeast Indiana collectively is the worst part of Indiana
As a kid (and admittedly into my 20s) I only saw the word on the radar channel and it would scroll to fast for me to pronounce it so I always read it as "koo-koos-cose" I mispronounce towns all the time, it's funny.

daniel Hart III No, both property crime and violent crime rates are much lower in Fort Wayne than Indianapolis. Also lower than Gary, Evansville, and Elkhart. I stopped looking it up after that, but there are probably more.
Hi Daniel..
Hello! Im from Indiana. I never had someone be mean to me before!
I live in fort Wayne I was raised there and I think it is a great place to raise children

@@alaswany9681 I live in Fort Wayne and it's ranked No.1 for lowest cost of living in the nation it's quite a beautiful and quiet city to live in we have a hockey team here they are one of the oldest teams in hockey history and in sports we also have a minor league baseball team called the Tincaps the stadium is ranked No.1 for ballpark experience in the country the Mad Ants are our basketball team (minor league of course) Fort Wayne is older than Indianapolis Fort Wayne is only 225 years old and Indy 199 another thing about Fort Wayne is that it's the 2nd biggest in the state and every year, the president comes town at the Allen County war memorial coliseum which is on the north side of town Fort Wayne even has a gorgeous zoo and loads of NFL football players are born here one of the actresses on the hit TV show "The Office", Jenna Fischer was born here and that's all I have to say about Fort Wayne for more info you can go on TH-cam and/or Google and look up VisitFortWayne (visitors center) and I'm 100% sure they'll show you more stuff about the city and the best places to live around town

Valparaiso should be on this list but maybe not because they seemed to be aiming for rich people. How how about a list of towns with average good people?
I can't help but notice that none of the towns mentioned are in southern Indiana. Anyone want some southern Indiana pride?
Madison is by far the best smallest city in Indiana. We have a beautiful national park called Clifty falls which you can hike and observe 7 different waterfalls. We have the hydroplane regatta every 4th of July weekend and a massive art festival called chataukwa. It’s a small river town that I’ve decided to raise my 4 daughters in because there’s no hustle and bustle of city life but plenty of things to do to keep us busy and entertained! BTW, Columbus is the closest city to Madison and it’s hugely overrated
Dane Massie pretty sure indiana dunes is the only national park in Indiana. Correct me if I’m wrong
I guess southern Indiana is a whole other state😂😂 not a single city mentioned, shame.
