I saw this too! Is this a kind of exam questions? Might they give us 2 higher numbers to find the HCF but then give 2 smaller prime factor numbers to work it out from?

the best and fastest way is to subtract the maximum number from the minimum. Example 12 and 8; 12-8 = 4; 18 and 12; 18-12 = 6
