    Glad to see that this review backs up my findings on this scale as well. I've had it for about a year and it has been great for me. Definitely recommend for a good budget option.

    Have used this scale several years. I get best results if I let it warm for 20 minutes before calibrating as it will drift while warming. I use both balance and this scale to double check my powder drop at start of reloading session. I then use balance scale for periodic doublecheck

    Yup. Have this exact model scale. Have had it a couple years, works great. Thinking about getting another for backup.

    After my RCBS scale went belly up after a decade of use , I decided to try a low-cost scale from Amazon. For $35, I got a scale that was compact in a self protecting case with weights and accessories. I tested it in many different areas with weights and beam scale confirmation - was all good. No regrets 😊

    A year ago I picked one of these scales up along with the lee powder dipper kit. It's really nice to throw an approximate charge with the dipper onto the scale and then trickle my way to charge weight. It's been extremely consistent and that's all I can ask for. Good review!

    I really appreciate this vid- on point, no fluff, and info I need. It's so hard (read slow or impossible) to reload with a deficient or inconsistent scale. I'll definitely look into this one. Thanks bud!

    I have and use that same scale and love it! Just make sure you turn off florescent lights and use LED or incandescent lights! - I also have a national Metallic wet tumbler that can handle 1000 9mm cases and it’s loud but works solid as a rock! Great stuff at awesome price point!

    I'm still dropping powder using my RCBS balance beam scale, but I use this same National Metallic digital scale for sorting my Hornady 140 gr ELD-Match bullets. I've found them as high as 140.6 and as low as 139.7. The vast majority are within 0.01 grain of 140.0 (i.e. 139.9, 140.0 and 140.1) When loading my rounds for the next trip to the range, I'm load each group of five using the same measured weight. Not sure if I'm wasting my time sorting the bullets by weight -- but at least it goes quick with this scale. I can go back 1 month later and those outlier bullets (140.3 thru 140.6 and those 139.7 and below) still remeasure their same initial reading. I've found this digital scale to be very consistent.

    I still double check every now and then with a beam scale, but I have used a cheap scale for the bulk of my work for a long time. The ONLY problem with it is that it has said auto shutoff. 2 years strong now, but I like the plug-in version like this much more.
    For trickling, I stick with the beam.. but for "throw, check, pour" cheap digital is the way.
    That said.. I am a chemistry major. Used high end scales at a job for a long time. I lust for a real scale. I just don't need it for the way I reload.

    A lot of digital scales have auto zero. This may be why some people have drift issues. you can defeat the auto zero by leaving a 100gr weight on the scale ( actually any weight but 100 is less confusing) after you zero/tare your scale. It doesn't ever return to zero, so it won't auto zero. So if weighing 32gr your scale will actually read 132gr and 100gr with an empty pan..

    One additional test that would be super helpful would be a drift test or using the test weights after the unit has been on for an hour or so (perhaps batteries vs adapter as well). My FA scale seems great for about 20 min. but I can't trust it so back to the balance beam.

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As long as it sits at zero mine has stayed there for days. If you have it at any other weight it will drift over time.

    • @lemonaid1605
      @lemonaid1605 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you confirm that during an hour long loading session, it will not vary readings of the test weights? (You can trust it?) If so I would for sure get one. @@BoltActionReloading

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't had a long loading session on it. I dumped some powder, did some trickling, and verified the weights on my FX-120 with the trickling were correct. (trickling from zero clearly is not a good idea, but when I dumped a bulk charge and trickled up it was fine.) I went back and forth with check weights for a good half hour or so with no difficulty, but I didn't sit with the pan off. (when its not sitting at zero) Most scales in this category, I would assume a empty pan check (is the scale reading zero) is just going to be something that is part of your process. If I leave the pan off for several hours and then return it to the platen its going to drift a little. (this is why it auto zeros like most scales do) If you were to dump from a powder measure, without confirming zero between charges, and then tricking I am not sure how it would perform. I am usually dipping with my lee scoops if I am manually trickling cause I hate cleaning out powder measures. It may be slightly process defendant.

    I had been using the frankford arsenal scale for almost two years when its zero started shifting during use and in desperation I ordered this one from midway bc it was last fall and hunting season was near. My FA scale that is now $100+ you could never trickle on it either I always lifted the pan after dropping then trickle up and weigh it again. Aside from that fact it worked amazingly one friend that used it got a 3ES with his 6.5 grendel. But when it came time to compare the national metallic to the old unit it failed miserably. You could watch the zero drift like clockwork up to 1.7grains. No matter what we tried you could never trust it. I've almost given up on electronic scales and am too scared to drop hundreds on a lab grade one just for it to malfunction in a couple years.

    • @tucobenedicto1780
      @tucobenedicto1780 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My Frankford Arsenal drifts as well. Leave it at zero and come back a couple hours later and it'll say I have 0.7 grains in the pan lol.

    Do you crimp when you reload or do you just rely on neck tension to hold the projectile in place?

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically I don't crimp, if you have enough neck tension I haven't needed too. Your experience may be different. (lever or pistol probably should crimp) I have been playing around with 350 legend and crimp those a little (basically anything you use a expander I would crimp) I also have never seen a increase in accuracy by crimping, only the opposite. ( I am sure someone else's experience is different)

    I liked that scale when I first got it, but then I realised that mine didn't pick up small amounts of powder being put in the tray. So when I was using a trickler, it was over throwing the charge by as much as a 1/2 a grain without the weight numbers moving.

    So you have a $500 A&D scale on the bench that you didnt compare the charges to. Worthless review!

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John. With all due respect comparing a $25 scale to a balance that is $500 isn't really fair. Its an inexpensive scale that works, comes with a pan and you can plug it in, doesn't shut itself off every 5 minutes, and measured exactly correct with every check weight I used. It doesn't resolve past .1 grains so I am not sure what info would have been gained. This scale is not a A&D and is never going to be.

    • @johnsenuta1038
      @johnsenuta1038 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoltActionReloading With all due respect. So what if it repeats itself with the check weight. That doesn't mean it is correct. Your lack of comparison to see exactly if the charge weight is what it says to me Midway must have told you to promote the hell out of this. I compare the Hornady charge weight on my A&D and more times that not the Hornady can throw a charge that can be half a grain different plus or minus.

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well John not sure what to say. With your response I am guessing I am wasting my time, but "if it repeats itself with the check weight. That doesn't mean its correct" doesn't make any sense to me. Are the check weights changing their weight? If you start comparing to other scales you get the opposite response, how can you know that the other scale is correct? Scales are always calibrated with weights regardless of their use. If I did not cover something you expected I guess I fell short. I am sure I will not convince you otherwise but Midway asked for nothing, doesn't get to pick anything I buy, review, etc. They had no idea that I was even looking at it and I wanted to let folks know that it was on some type of promotion before it was over.
      Best to you,
      BAR
