Your deck was unironically close to the best UG deck you could hope for. In case it wasn't clear you lost that final game because you essentially wasted two turns trying to counter what ended up being an incredibly mediocre two drop. Instead you could have played out your talent and started hitting him while he had no creatures. Also that chatter was correct. It is 100% better to play creatures before the innkeepers talent as the talent can activate the same turn you play it, but only if you already have a creature to target. So glad you played some draft, love the content, continuing to improve is the best we can ever do.
I always notice that inexperienced players love to chump block when they still have a high life total. Your life is your most valuable resource to use when you are behind and trying to stabilize.
I have no clue about anything Magic, but I'm slowly but surely picking things up and learning. And Wubby you make that process quite enjoyable, so thanks for that!
This was so fun to watch again, thanks for the upload! I hope Wubby does more Arena battles in the future, it'd be fun to see what he does with an Outlaws deck, or even just the Jump In Deck matches. His card commentary is always great.
I LOVED this! Please keep doing it and other things like it! It's like your commander nights but probably easier to do and easier to do more often! It's a content win! Thanks!
Dude i need more mtg arena gameplay, i dont care at all if you play well or not this was one of the most entertaining videos ive seen i keep rewatching it and hoping another one will release someday
Been drafting with my pod the last couple months, either a fresh box or whatever cube has been brewed, and it's some of the best fun I've had with magic in a long time. My pod likes control, and I like aggro, so I fortunately tend to get my pick of the litter when it comes to creatures and any instants/sorceries that don't draw you cards/counter spells and I have yet to create a deck that doesn't absolutely punch at least one of my buddy's jaws into a unique angle
I mean sure there are many sweats on arena but saying I’m committing to blue green frogs after pack 1 pick 2 is crazy work , play loose and follow signals. Be conscious of other peoples picks
No. There's a brief moment where he trims the deck at 7:12 - - But holy hell he made some highly questionable decisions. We're the frog deck, but decided to only run 2 of our 3 most important Frogs: Long River Lurker. It's legitimately one of the best cards for the archetype and you'll take as many as you can play. Instead we're playing cards like Sharepot & Heaped Harvest; arguably two terrible cards that should be sideboard or in very dedicated decks ( like 3-4 color "Soup" ).
@@pailofawesome Yea, I went back and checked later and there's just a very unfortunate cut that makes it look like he goes straight from drafting to playing.
UG wasn’t especially open, you married it way too early. I think there was a good GB deck in here. But can’t imagine it’s easy to draft on a large stream and try to keep it interesting. GG, keep up this content Wubby!
IMO limited should be the most competitive formats. Unfortunately with the introduction of play boosters and the amount of rares has completely skewed it more towards luck than actual skill.
Only if they never reveal the cards they get until they play them. Imagine Wubby pulling something nice and having to straight face it till he plays it against someone.
Watched game one... OOOF. New sets are always a learning curve and mistakes like the Keen-Eyed Curator happen. The problem this game was card advantage. You got out carded so hard. The lines taken on turns 4-7 were just not ideal. You had the advantage and then picked a line that didn't press the advantage. Another pivotal moment was blocking and using your trick to trade 2 cards for 1. If anything, trades that are 2:1 are the real secret to limited. The biggest resource in limited magic is number of cards played. Health... sure you got 20. When you play commander you learn to play a form of magic that doesn't really translate. Commander is more like a circle jerk. Everyone gathers up and plays with themselves until someone pops. More traditional competitive formats are more about establishing board control and developing a resource (9/10 times that means card) advantage. You don't have other players to make deals with to save you from a bad trade. If you want to get better at draft focus on finding paths that let you create card advantage on the battlefield. After that you are looking for card advantage in hand. The old BREAD acronym has reigned supreme for 30 years - Bombs, Removal, Evasion, Attackers, Dregs. You don't want 10 removal spells in a deck but you want 3-5 ideally. You had a couple but didn't time them very well (or at all with the Hunter's Talent).
You're allowed to have your opinion Wubby - But saying that people playing RANKED drafts need to be "casual players" & they are "ruining it" for you is like walking into a local Regional Qualifier and being upset that there are some people there to win. If you want to do casual drafts; then play the casual draft mode or do them IRL with friends. What you're asking for already exists. Not every single format needs to be casual-only and cater to what essentially boils down to the Commander crowd.
The problem with MTGA is a mixture of the daily win grind that everyone wants to complete as quickly as possible, and anonymity online that means you dont have to look your opponent in the face when you use the most broken combo to not let them play and finish them.
I know he admitted to being bad at limited but it is super kekw that he claims he hates limited because it's so luck based and he gets innkeeper's talent(one of the best bombs in the format), draws it first in his first three games, and throws his first game after making a colossal mistake. I've made worse mistakes.
Nice draft bro. I got 1 win in my first draft ever a couple days ago. I couldn't even figure how to pick the cards and was confused when I was forced to pick from three colors, not knowing you can set some cards aside hahaha. I played with all the cards in the first match too. It was a miracle I got that 1 win
Wubby, I have screenshot 4 drafts in which I as a silver rank drafter have gone up against someone within the top 1000 players (they have a number for their rank) and its so broken and soul crushing. I emailed Magic Arena's customer service department and received a generic reply back that, "The game is working as intended and players are paired against people on similar skill levels." I replied back that I am not stupid enough to think I'm on those players skill level and asked them not to give me a BS copy paste reply and actually explain to me why I am versing these players. They then said they were bumping my ticket up to "resolve" the issue and its been 2 months now with no word. So basically, its just not even sweaty players with spread sheets. WOTC are just morons when it comes to pairing.
There is a hidden MMR, it is possible that you had a similar MMR to that player. If you play rarely and win a lot against bronze/silver/gold then your rating might actually be high-ish. And the guy in the numbered ranks might have played hundreds of games at barely above 50% winrate. if your'e one of the first 1500 or so to Mythic, then you get a number even if your MMR isn't that great.
It's really nice to see Wubby trying Magic for the first time ever.
Your deck was unironically close to the best UG deck you could hope for. In case it wasn't clear you lost that final game because you essentially wasted two turns trying to counter what ended up being an incredibly mediocre two drop. Totally valid and in the moment shit like that happens I guess
"Darius?"
"Yeah?"
"Theres a goblin sneaking up on you."
"So?"
"Just sayin'."
we really need more of this, i loved the absolute shit out of watching that and i had never played arena before lol
thanks wubby made me feel a lot better about my drafting.
I rarely comment, this was peak magic content from you wubby, I need more of this.
The number of rookie mistakes in that first game damn bruh. We all been there at one point or another haha
Limited is such a fun format, I laughed ALOT watching this. Thank you.
I have no clue about anything Magic, but I'm slowly but surely picking things up and learning. And Wubby you make that process quite enjoyable, so thanks for that!
Try Arena. Even the free offerings can do a lot to help you learn the game
That first match was the hottest of potatoes of just back and forth misplays, my bran is fred
I have never seen someone so excited to get to 1 win. My god this is gold.
This was so fun to watch again, thanks for the upload!
I hope Wubby does more Arena battles in the future, it'd be fun to see what he does with an Outlaws deck, or even just the Jump In Deck matches. His card commentary is always great.
Wubby really motivates me to draft more. There no way I could be worse than him.
Bro really pack one pick 1 the literal highest winrate card in the set and said “it’s not bad”💀
I love your enthusiasm wubby. Whether your drafting or opening packs, always makes me happy😂
I LOVED this! Please keep doing it and other things like it! It's like your commander nights but probably easier to do and easier to do more often! It's a content win! Thanks!
I liked the different energy you have on arena would love to see more
This was a fun video. I loved the energy. Maybe focus on sequencing rather than BM'ing 😂.
Dude i need more mtg arena gameplay, i dont care at all if you play well or not this was one of the most entertaining videos ive seen i keep rewatching it and hoping another one will release someday
Absolutely love the draft content, I lack the attention span to draft myself but watching someone else do it is peak
"Why would i play the creature first, dont you know how to play magic?" - wubby directly after missplaying. God i love mondays
This was so fun to watch! Please do more :)
Dawg you shoulda been there for Lord of the Rings draft, that shit was magical. Until you play against a bath song deck XD
23:05 I love magic the gathering 🤣❤️

This was fun af
Love watching you play Arena lol You should do it more often!
Need more of this Wubs!
Was it awkward playing with Jimmy after shitting on game knights lol
I know everyone loves Commander but I'd love to see you play more Arena or maybe even some paper modern/standard/draft with the boys.

WUBBY YOU GOT ME ADDICTED TO ARENA WTFFFFF
This is like therapy after a bad draft, immediately feel a lot better about my skills 😅
very entertaining
I havent watched the whole vid yet but locking in your color combo off the first two cards is a MOOD and i do it every time
I mean sure there are many sweats on arena but saying I’m committing to blue green frogs after pack 1 pick 2 is crazy work , play loose and follow signals. Be conscious of other peoples picks
please do this every monday. and stream at 5:30 please
Please draft Bloomburrow in paper with your homies on your Mulligan's channel.
Is there a separate channel for mulligans? I thought he posted all magic stuff on here
18:11
"Oh icy-Y, icy-Y"
Did he just go straight into playing without pruning down the deck ?
No. There's a brief moment where he trims the deck at 7:12 - - But holy hell he made some highly questionable decisions. Respect for a frog deck

When you are getting hosed sometime the best pick is just the best pick regardless of what you chose before
LETS GOOOO ARENA BABYYYYYY
I'd love to know where in the world you find these playmats
This is good content please keep doing it wubby
thank you for the break down at the start
i haven't played magic since 7 but this being a video game really does help things translate also
its so awesome and weird to see my favourite worlds collide
In this episode, Wubby learns why he shouldn't just counter the first thing he sees every time (hopefully). Every stream is a learning experience!
"I think we're gonna keep it in the family."
"If he plays removal again I'm just gonna get out my 'Nice!' spam" Now that's the words of a well seasoned Arena player right there LOL
" he'll mute you and never see your 'Nice!' spam" "that's ok" ok yea wubby has joined the dark side now
Drafting: 👀
Gameplay: 🤦♂️
IMO limited should be the most competitive formats. Unfortunately with the introduction of play boosters and the amount of rares has completely skewed it more towards luck than actual skill.
Have you heard of the CT scan for Pokémon cards..... thoughts on if it would work on MTG
Where can I watch this live?
You should do a draft again
Honestly i would love to see draft with wubby , carlos , booty, and peanut
Only if they never reveal the cards they get until they play them. Imagine Wubby pulling something nice and having to straight face it till he plays it against someone.
should definitely do more arena content !
Are ya winning son?
"i should call her" godamnit lol
when you think he has a chance then notice there are 2 minutes left...
I never realized Legends of Runeterra is just Magic but with a League of Legends skin. I guess I know how to play Magic more than I thought
Honestly, I have no idea what I’m watching. Hella fun watching though. Seems like a cool way to learn how to play.
Youre getting better at magic. Dont rush
Did anyone ever tell him about how doubling season wins games?
You don't need to know what the card does to know what the card does. Read it lol
more arena videos please, its just easier to follow along whats going on for me
"I'm bad at draft"
"The highest I have gotten is 5 wins"
Lol, I am bad and have never gotten to 5 wins.

I love this drafting content 🎉🎉🎉
Should've been squirrels ;-; love this content :)
super fun to watch new limited players
Countering the 2 drop in a draft is so real though
The reason you do bad is because you pick with your heart ❤️
that was sick, more MTG arena please
glorg moments out the wazoo
this was kinda painful to watch, good show
I will continue to blame the legion of Fiverr Arena coders for all my arena problems.

I think you needed to pivot to red in pick 1 pack 2 ... blue is the worst color in this format but love you wubbyyyy

Do this again, good to see someone else make a fool of themselves lmao
ive been playing rabbits, its so broken (in a good way lol)
I have...what...maybe....no......fuuuuuuuuuucking holy shit. That is my brain watching Wubby play this.
Pain. Entire video is pain
SHUT UP JUSTIN! 😂
Nice draft bro. I got 1 win in my first draft ever a couple days ago.
