Sounds like you dragged a footpeg feeler or some other hard part of the bike. Exhausts can sometimes be the first part to touch down too. Dragging hard parts can lever the tyres away from the road sometimes and cause loss of traction. Could be wrong in this case as hard to tell from your video. If that was the reason, good body position can reduce lean angle and still keep the pace up.
You're right. I take that ramp daily and it's always clean and in the video it's clean too, wasnt even dragging knee.. At the end I have some tire around my boot but I rewatched the entire vid and don't see tire anywhere at all. Complete mystery to me.. still need to lean less though
A peg being ripped off by some minor road debris? That's crazy, bro. Nice job staying on top of it, especially with the missing peg. That could have gone tits-up real fast.
@@SVFRacing117 - The debris getting caught under the wheel would explain a lot. That was pretty crazy. What's with the cheap Chinese pegs? You ride track. You've got to be able to rely on your pegs. Go with Vortex or Woodcraft, something that's not going to snap on you. Your life is on those pegs. Have fun on your track day! (I'm jealous.)
@@abikeanditsboy3449 I figured a peg breaking if I lean too much would be better than the bike pirouetting off a rock solid peg, maybe I'm wrong though? Thanks!
@@SVFRacing117 - It looks like you're on an R6 and know a bit about body position and all that good stuff. (I'm assuming you're being taught at track days?) With your knee out in a corner your knee slider acts as a gauge to tell you how far you're leaning the bike over. With your feet in the proper position on the pegs and your knee out there should be no danger of the peg scraping because the slider should always touch first. Even with stock pegs the slider should touch first. My personal preference is for adjustable rearsets. On my ZX6R my pegs are a little further back and higher up than the stock position. Why? Because the guy who had the bike before me had them there and he's got mad skillz on track so I left them there. If I scrape one of my ZX6R's pegs it's because the bike is sliding down the tarmac and so am I.
@@abikeanditsboy3449 hahaha those are great points! I learned in the mountains but I've done 2 track days and my next is Sunday! I could probably use some ergo adjustments.. being 6'2" on the R6 isn't the most comfortable in the world but there might not be much I can do. I have OEM replacements for my pegs so I will have the peg sliders again.
I'm relatively new to my R6 and this is a super helpful video as I live near this perfectly curved stretch of road that I like to go fast on but I may take it a bit easier now... anything can happen on public roads. Also, great ATGATT! And of course great recovery!

Saw your thread on reddit. I think you got spooked when you drag the peg. Also don't get uptight cause people laugh at you when you are wearing gear, they don't have to go to the hospital when you crash. You wear gear to protect yourself, not to seek a stranger on the internet's approval. If you want to learn to ride better, hit the track. Risk getting hit by 2 ton SUV's is not a good environment to learn. Rubber side down. 👍
Thanks! I've done some track days, have one next Sunday:) I dont think I started by dragging the peg, I've done thst a few times and tbid was different.. but yes, ATGATT and people can say what they want. Thanks
Pavement reflector? Similar thing happened to me; got close to the edge, rear wheel hit gravel, wheel skipped, I freaked out, opened the throttle and sat back to take weight off the front. Not sure if that would work for everyone.

Saw this on moto madness and had to see the actual video. Glad you're okay dude. That was scary as hell. Was definitely a good idea to stop for a minute too. I would've just went home after that.
@@SVFRacing117 Hey mate, check out the edit called CRAZY, ANGRY & SCARY MOTO MOMENTS 2021 [Ep.#56] with your clip featured. Thanks for letting me use it. MM
Probably your riding position, your feet shouldn't be able to hit the asfalt. Make sure you're tiptoeing on your peg. Hitting just the peg would've only scraped the feelers that's what they're for. Rear brake pedal got bended and peg broke off because of the impact it made afterwards, luckily it gained traction. Ride Safe, also you might want to take care of that engine management light I suppose you're already aware of
Oily spot. Low tire pressure. Worn/loose swing arm bearings. Worn/loose triple tree bearings. Anything that could change steering geometry. I did not watch with sound so I may be missing something.
You got into the greasy part of the road with very little rubber on the asphalt. Front tire pushed out as the traction changed at full lean. For a good explanation of leaning and overall body positioning check out A twist of the wrist vol 2 by Keith Code.
Looking at your pictures, was that alligator paved into the onramp and you got hooked on it? I've heard of them using shredded tires in pavement. Lucky you still have a foot.
You made a good decision stopping for a few minutes.
I was supposed to ride for an hour but I went home. Right peg is gone lol
Jeeez yeah that was pretty much invisible. Brown trousers moment right there!
I was definitely looking very hard and saw nothing!
Thanks for sharing this. I'm always scared of dragging a toe.
yw man, I've never done it on purpose haha but I think this is what cause the issue

Cheap aftermarket peg and I think the debris also got caught under the wheel and pulled a lot? Brake lever was bent too.
