Went to see them live in Prague last year for the first time ever, it was a life long wish come true. They played this song as an acoustic version and it just took me back to ten years ago when 13 year old me first saw them on TV, decided to buy Bad Blood a week later and become a lifelong fan. It was one the most amazing experiences I ever had. Thank you for everything Dan and the crew. This still slaps ten years later

So right, as this came out before Bad Blood's video I kinda feel as if this one foreshadows his death as he is all kind of distant and vague in this one. Also, he wakes up FROM the crime scene where I am assuming he has washed up. In Bad Blood it says he was missing for 34 days and it shows him drowning, the kid in that video could have saved him but didn't and then you see the kid with his jacket. Also, all the skelly ladies could be foreshadowing his death and he could be like a ghost? I feel like all of the videos are related like in Things we lost in the fire when they hand him the gun and then all of the deaths in Of The Night or something? I feel like in the video their flaw is that they are dead. However, Dan hides his flaw, as he looks alive. On the other hand, the girls embrace their flaws and they show them to everyone, as they are dressed like skeletons. Just my opinion. It's probably not right.

I was a big fan of this album and especially this song. Now years later I listen to and read the lyrics again.... I didn't really care about the lyrics back then but now... it's feels like this song always described me. My roommate (we're Dutch) couldn't find the dutch words to describe me so he said "You always wear your heart on your sleeve". And now I'm back at this song again
What a wonderful way to relate to the song. I am the same way (wear my heart on my sleeve) and I've known others who bury their flaws...This song makes me think about how at the end of it all, "all our flaws get counted." Like a reminder that we will face all of our flaws in our life review when we meet our maker some day, so we might as well "dig them out" and live with purpose.

Literally I used to listen to Bastille every single day on the bus to school in 7th grade. I fell in love with them when I saw them performing at Coachella and I decided that I wanna get back into listening to their music fairly recently. They are my comfort artists.
Over a decade later, Bastilles music resonates ao deeply. Bad Blood is now one of a my favourite albums. The way they capture the essence of mortality and the human experience in it, is both moving and timeless.
This is simply one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. *God* I love Bastille! Such an astounding band

I never listen to good music after a break up, because every time I listen to it after that I'm reminded of the pain that I was feeling.
Braenn Smith It's worth it in the end. There are several songs that used to bring tears every time I heard them, but now they bring the smiles of nostalgia and memory - the pain never goes away, but it does fade and become bearable, and you become stronger as a result.
I have an idea what the music video is about but I may be wrong...When he first wakes up from the crime scene, I'm assuming he was dead. I think he "died" because he berried his flaws because "without them we are doomed." They he comes back to life because he has this moment of realization, he is like "woah. I need my flaws." (I'm guessing the skeleton people represent his flaws) So, he sees his flaws and he's like "woah, I'm probably better off with them!" So he goes and embraces his flaws and has a GREAT time. Then he has a concert and he tries to stay away from them while he is performing. Then I'm not completely sure what happens at the end but maybe it means, now he is able to sleep knowing he is himself. Hey! But that's just a theory.

I'd like to think that this is set after the events in Bad Blood. It's sure that he's dead, as shown in the beginning, but part of his fallen spirit starts to relive the memories of the nearby fair, because he probably went there a few times in his life time. The girls in the video probably look that way because they're more likely than not reminders of his being dead, three of them being either his friends/friends on his girlfriend, his girlfriend (maybe sister? He has a shoulder slung around her at 2:34) being the long haired girl who he sits next to on the swings. She seems forlorn or sad at some parts, because she's probably still alive--as opposed to the man in the video--and is mourning him. He probably has a choice to remain in this world the way he is right now; a ghost that's only able to see past times, because they were precious, unable to really 'live' again because he has passed. And even though he has company and entertainment and free reign of this new self, he probably understands that he shouldn't cling on to old memories--so he goes back to being dead, in the end.
Of course, this is just interpretation, but this song and video have a deeper meaning than what I can explain!

This song is and continues to be my all time favorite thing to listen to. It’s more that just a song to me, it’s not about the lyrics, all I can see when I hear this is my bitter sweet past and the things I’ve done during that time. This song is the closest thing to a reminder of my awkward pre teen years I have and I cherish that. This music video and moreover, the song, has a quality to it that caught my eye from the start and continues to amaze me but for completely different reasons every time. To anyone questioning this video: if you watch the video for bad blood, the lead singer drowned at sea (hence his body being found on a beach in this video) This song is about flaws that we inherit. The skeleton girls represent a flaw that he just inherited, and that would be death(sorry, not sure how to word that.) They wear it openly, and he hides it (wearing flaws upon your sleeve opposed to burying them beneath the ground) Digging them up and finishing what we started is represented by him going back to where he died at the end of the video, and falling into it. Just my take on the video, i could be wrong. No matter how you take the video, it is an amazing song, just like every other bastille song
