In my Swedish American Family, we also open our gifts at night on Christmas Eve. We still put stockings on the Chimney and put little gifts in them so they also get something on Christmas morning. and so they celebrate Christmas twice.

In my (German) family. We open gifts at night on Christmas eve, rather than the morning. We also sing songs before anyone’s allowed to open their gifts.
Conveniently, it helps with splitting Christmas for our American in-laws

Went to Christmas mid night mass in Germany last year. There were very few people present to celebrate the mass. Felt sad to see that many Germans are turning away from Jesus Christ.

"Shooting" to chase away evil spirits is very traditional and still extremely popular everywhere in Germany, though it's usually not done in the Holy Night, but a week later, at New Year. And by the way, we use fireworks now, guns would be too dangerous.

Its supersmart to show our christmas traditions with clips from the 1960th. VERY clever. 🥱

No problem. The description states that this video will show German Christmas traditions. At 0:56 we show pictures from 1960. That's fine, because it's always nice to see impressed children. But at 1:01 and 1:45 we see scenes from 1952 and 1958 about the Christmas shooting.
I'm 57 and lived in Bavaria for a few years, but I've never heard of this tradition. If you want to share information with others, it is better to show pictures from today. If you use older images, it's helpful to comment. Is this tradition still celebrated or is it a tradition that was celebrated years ago?

The Christkind never was based on baby Jesus. It is always a woman or girl, and always has been. It has some similarity with the Russian Snegurotschka.

Only southern Germany would have Catholic traidtions...(including a nativity creche)...northern Germany was as insipid Protestant as the Scandinavian regions.
