My best friend while I was on the inside was the only other gay dude on the deck. Thank god we wound up together cuz it made the time go by so much quicker just to be able to talk to someone who gets you. I mean I was really close friends with this guy. He’d even call my mom after I’d gotten out and I was in rehab (condition of me getting out) She liked him a lot. He finally got the same deal as me after working so hard to get it and sadly immediately relapsed. Like he couldn’t even complete the treatment he immediately found a way to get Xanax and meth and in the recovery home spilled Xanax everywhere. Got kicked out. Called me saying cars were following him. Now I’ve never done meth. But everyone knows that shit makes you instantly nuts. He denied doing meth but I finally got him to admit it when he was telling me his paranoid delusions. And he goes “fine I did a little meth like 3 days ago” and I responded “when’s the last time you slept?” “Like 3 days ago” yeah exactly. And after that he disappeared. As of now idk his fate. But it really made me sad. He was actually a good person but his drug of choice was one that instantly fucks with your head.

The making connections in jail rarely works, you can learn a lot for sure, but not make good connections. What no one ever talks about is that for at least a couple weeks after someone is released the cops will keep an eye on them in case they try and get back into the game. Which means they'll keep track of anyone else associating with them. I once visited an acquaintance who was in jail on drug charges because he had no visitors, just to give him some hope. A month later I saw an unmarked cop hanging around outside my house for 2 weeks and occasionally following me. I discovered later that this guy got bailed out and ran, so the cops where looking for anyone connected to him that might be harboring him. Because I was on record as being a visitor I was put on that list of possible associates.

He got busted with a couple kilos AND over $150k cash both in his car simultaneously. By the Feds, not Aspen PD.
His name was Wayne so when he was arraigned all his buddies and customers had an “A-Wayne-ment” party before he went away. He had Rod Blagojevich as a cellmate for a while.
All the major coke dealers in Aspen at that time (2006-2009) were in their 70’s so the Feds referred to them as the “Over the Hill Gang”.

Love to see you do a piece on the case of drug traffiker Joseph Weichselbaum. In the 80's he was caught flying a load of marijuana and cocaine into Miami airport and was arrested upon landing his private plane, which he used to transport the drugs from Columbia himself. Besides the quantity found in his possession there, he also confessed to already having offloaded 1500 pounds of it - 680 kilos - from Columbia in the past. His mules transported his wares to the midwest from his base of operations, a Miami auto business. He was apparently a good pal of Donald Trump, who sent a character reference to the court, who handed down a sentence in which he served only 18 months! While incarcerated, his girlfriend was given a Trump Tower, NY apartment, which he moved into upon release. Donald also hired him as an executive of the Trump Organization, where he oversaw his own helicopter business being used to transport high rollers to Trumps NJ casinos. Nothing strange here, eh?

You work that job for 20 years (and doing a really really bad job at it) you will easily clear 2 million. Or get a quick 100k and get caught and lose out on 20 years of your life. My sons mother is dead from an OD. My best friend dead from an OD. A friend in and out of jail for recovery (probation) violations for using. Another best friend in rehab at THIS MOMENT. Spent every dollar my family had. And I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. Imagine just that list (forget prison) and people want you to be happy that you're still alive. I have lost 50% of everything (I count my son as 50%) of everything that meant anything to me. And it started for ALL OF US......with perc 15s and 30s, oxycontin, opana and dilaudid. Bruce, could you cover the 2017 Delphi, Indiana double homicide and the recent arrest of Richard Allen in connection with this case? It would be helpful if you could discuss the charge of "felony murder" in the state of Indiana - for example, the bearing of Palmer v. State on the interpretation of the Indiana statute on felony murder and how it bears on the Delphi case. And in the light of all that, it would be great if you could give an evaluation of the the evidence presented in the probable cause affidavit, both in relation to "probable cause" (for the arrest) and "beyond reasonable doubt" (for eventual conviction). There seems to be a lot of disagreement about this case among True Crime enthusiasts and lawyers alike. Thanks!

I've watched "Banged Up Abroad" and it can be absolutely brutal. Foreign jails can be much worse than US or UK jails. The jail in Mexico was run by the gangs, not by the prison guards. Bangkok Hilton, the drama, is available to watch on TH-cam and that is brutal as well, because it is an automatic death penalty if you're found with enough drugs to be a dealer - and execution was by machine gun to the heart. The executioner said that people didn't die straightaway sometimes. They've changed to lethal injection now, the executioner (in a documentary) said he preferred it because he didn't have to deal with people moaning in pain before they died and having to deal with a very bloody body afterwards. Don't smuggle drugs, kids.
