Everyone complained that FC5's takedowns were too tame, but I think it just makes the deputy more of a badass. While every other protagonist relies on a blade to stealth kill their enemies, the deputy needs only his hands to do it.
The far cry 3 takedowns really fit in with the game since Jason was becoming more bloodthirsty and brutal throughout the game because of the island’s curse or whatever magic it had that attracted people
The island doesn't attract people. Doug, the DJ from the flash back squences, was a plant from Vaas's crew that convinced them to sky dive onto the island.
I like how The Deputy’s takedowns are more humane than the other protagonists, considering he’s part of law enforcement and the others are pretty much freedom fighters. The Captain, Takaar and Dani are beyond being the bigger person, so I can’t really blame their takedowns being as brutal as they are.

There are actually 2 takedowns in Far Cry 2. One when you come really close to someone with a machete you slice his stomach which makes him injured but still alive. And the second one is when you walk to injured enemy lying on a ground you stab him. I don't understand why people forget about these
Probably cause fc 2 take downs had completely different system they diddent stealthily kill the enemy (well maby the lying down takedown) and it was the same animation every time and the regular melee attack one shotted the enemy (if I remember correctly I havnt played that game in a while) so it was much more preferable also stealth was completely different from the rest of the series so it wasn't nearly as useful when everyone is shooting at you while you have to takedown a guy twice to kill him and your health is much lower in this game so you can't risk it.
You should play Homefront: Revolution. It has a multitude of different takedowns, some of which aren't even shown in the video that is supposed to show them all.
A lot of people hate on Far Cry 5 takedowns for being toned down but they were the fastest and snappiest animations in the series. Very satisfying when you develop a good rhythm and take out several goons in seconds. New Dawn and 6 go way top far in the other direction by making the takedowns over the top brutal and making them take twice as long to do compared to the previous games.
I loved how brutal the takedowns were in New Dawn, but as you said... the animations are twice as long as previously which makes you more easily to be detected when in stealth or makes you take twice as many hits in direct combat.
I started with FC4 so I have a bias for the kukri. I also played FC5 and missed the impaling/stabbing takedowns but now that I'm seeing this, I can't deny FC5 has the funniest takedowns.

But personally I find the Seeds to be far more interesting than any far cry group to date. The fact that there's so much lore to the game is just amazing and Joseph actually has motivations and genuine reasons. I can totally see the reason you'd like 3 over 5 but from a personal sense I love 5 more than the others

I love far cry 6's prisoner wraps(Disrespect: During a Machete Kill, use L2/LT/RM to equip your enemy's sidearm then R2/RT/LM to shoot another target). Situational but still awesome.

I actually liked the deputy's fists the best, it's even better when you get brass knuckles! Danni's are sadistic and just take too long. Then everyone else is just quick and efficient, even the caveman despite being the most brutal, especially if you use a spear.

the classic 3&4 will always be my fav because of how quick the execution are, 5 are also great with the punch and smacking that gave a differences to the previous and the new one. also i think we can all agree the new dawn enemies are the thoughest one because of their ridiculous Level system lol i like how a bazooka to the body literally didn't splat the lvl 3 and legendary variant(despite they only wear a fricking bikers vest and armor like, hell that even protect you from blast and explosion on impact) bruh it even took almost 1 and a 1/2 mag of lvl 2 Lmg just to kill one lvl 3 enemy lmao
just got far cry 6 and in my opinion it has the most badass machete takedowns and hijacks I’ve seen in gaming period. The way you can just stab it through their lower jaw and right through their cranium is absolutely insane

Farcry 4 has so many good ones: ledge takedown, vehicle takedown, cover takedown, gun takedown, grenade takedown, heavy takedown, and you just show the same chain takedown like 4 times

The various weapons you get and can upgrade or nice. They ACTUALLY made a language for everyone to speak. The animals you can get to help you, from a dhole to a sabertooth tiger. The visions we have are gorgeous and fun, especially where you break the sun. Cons: I don't know what's going on up top due to having to pay attention to the subtitles. The amount of gathering you have to do to keep up with your weapons and arrows. You also not only hunt for yourself, but to heal your animals and build your villages. There's also various types of materials like South Rock dust, North rock dust, etc.. Trying not to get killed by animals since I don't want to waste my weapons. The constant gathering, crafting, and reading subtitles make it my least favorite Far Cry game.

personally i liked the take downs in farcry 5 and loved the game in general but im not gonna write an essay abt why i love it here. the takedowns really feel like something you'd do when sneaking around as more brutal ones might attract too much attention and bonking cultists on the head with a metal bat is always fun just one swift bap and they're down. i do wish the take downs when you go loud were a bit more climactic though
Honestly five is my favorite. Something about breaking someone's neck or just kneeing them in the face is so satisfying. It's quick, brutal and fun and never gets old. I feel like it says a lot more about deputy also. He's not just a person thrown in a bad situation and has to survive. He's a trained killer and knows exactly how to handle himself. Ik the other protagonist do also, but I just feel like dep is less focused on the killing itself and more about getting the job done. Which in my opinion is much scarier to deal with. Not only did he just break your freind neck, he's already out of sight eyeing down his next few targets. "It was over before it began" kinda vibe.
fun fact: far cry 2 also has takedowns, but the enemy has to trip, crouch down, or be shot in the legs or torso until they fall without dying, and then if you crouch and attack with your machete you will due a takedown animation where you stab them in the back

I care about brutalitynot the speed of the kill. If you want a quick kill use a bullet. Takedowns are meant to be long and brutal.

The multi and chain take downs in far cry 4 are unmatched. Honestly my favorite game. Still looks really good with settings turned up.

Just found out the prisoner's scarf is very useful. Perk, Face Your Foe: Enable takedowns on alerted enemies from the front

Farcry 4 has so many good ones: ledge takedown, vehicle takedown, cover takedown, gun takedown, grenade takedown, heavy takedown, and you just show the same chain takedown like 4 times
I know this is a unpopular opinion but I really like far cry 5 takedowns the deputy killing people with his bare hands makes him stand out just a little bit makes him seem super strong.
I'm seeing so many people say "I know this is an unpopular opinion" like seriously there's more people saying it's an unpopular opinion when almost everyone is saying they like them
Far cry 5 has my favorite based on how humane and efficient they are

My favourite takedowns are Primal's. I love the variety depending on weapon you use.
That is also true of 5 and New Danwn, unfortunately 6 did away with it

What I'd really love, for the next Far Cry game, is if we could have gun takedowns, in addition to whatever standard takedown we're given: being able to rifle butt or pistol whip people
There's just somethong so eternally fucking hilarious about propelling bats, pipes and shovels at enemy combatants with the same speed as a tiny throwing knife and watching them just THUNK right off

The takedowns on Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn & Far Cry 6 looks really awesome on ps4 I played also Far Cry 2, 3 &4 but on pc

i'm a die-hard FC fan (one that denies primal's existence) and for me, Far Cry 6's takedown animations were like a breath of fresh air
Why?, It needed variety of melee weapons, or with bare hands too, it's kinda boring to SEE the same knife/machete in every Game.

Pros:
It's world of Oros is gorgeous. To the really tall trees, to the alien looking plants you gather.
The various weapons you get and can upgrade or nice.
They ACTUALLY made a language for everyone to speak.
The animals you can get to help you, from a dhole to a sabertooth tiger.
The visions we have are gorgeous and fun, especially where you break the sun.
Cons:
I don't know what's going on up top due to having to pay attention to the subtitles.
The amount of gathering you have to do to keep up with your weapons and arrows. You also not only hunt for yourself, but to heal your animals and build your villages. There's also various types of materials like South Rock dust, North rock dust, etc..
Trying not to get killed by animals since I don't want to waste my weapons.
The constant gathering, crafting, and reading subtitles make it my least favorite Far Cry game.

personally i liked the take downs in farcry 5 and loved the game in general but im not gonna write an essay abt why i love it here. the takedowns really feel like something you'd do when sneaking around as more brutal ones might attract too much attention and bonking cultists on the head with a metal bat is always fun just one swift bap and they're down. i do wish the take downs when you go loud were a bit more climactic though

Honestly five is my favorite. Something about breaking someone's neck or just kneeing them in the face is so satisfying. It's quick, brutal and fun and never gets old. I feel like it says a lot more about deputy also.
He's not just a person thrown in a bad situation and has to survive. He's a trained killer and knows exactly how to handle himself. Ik the other protagonist do also, but I just feel like dep is less focused on the killing itself and more about getting the job done. Which in my opinion is much scarier to deal with. Not only did he just break your freind neck, he's already out of sight eyeing down his next few targets. "It was over before it began" kinda vibe.

fun fact: far cry 2 also has takedowns, but the enemy has to trip, crouch down, or be shot in the legs or torso until they fall without dying, and then if you crouch and attack with your machete you will due a takedown animation where you stab them in the back

In FC6 a comrade is being brutally ripped apart a meter from them but they doesn't notice. In this case the quick takedowns of FC5 make more sense.

I always liked seeing rookie having the power of God in his hands with a shovel to do takedowns people rather than seeing the other farcry characters using knifes to do the job
Don't forget that if you lack the shovel(any melee weapon), rook will just use his hands. Awesome

Metro exodus really nailed the non-lethal method of playing, with enemies being able to surrender as well.

I love how there is farcry 5 where you knock down enemies by smashing them into a soft couch, and then there is farcry 6 where you totally butcher them and slice their skulls in half
You forgot to show the knife throw/grenade/handgun takedowns from Farcry 3, not to mention the dual takedowns from above and below as well
And the Heavy takedowns
All other far cry protagonists: quickly kills them with a machete or knife
The deputy: beats the ever loving shit out of them

'decent' lol fc3 was made in 2012, even the graphics are as good as newer far cry games, loved to play fc3 when i was 11 in 2012 on my friends pc, 5years later i played it myself. good ol nostalgia :)), only thing why i hate the new fc games are cause their made to be mainstream with no story, running around with rainbow bat that takes heavy enemy's down with one hit :D

Far Cry 4 takedowns are best. Fast and cool. Far Cry 5 are badass.

Sure, it didn't really stick to the Far Cry style because they added no knife. But it just felt badass for some reason. The behind-cover takedowns were so badass to me for some reason
