Is this why OpenAI didn't release ChatGPT for Windows?

  • OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Desktop, but only for Macs. A week later, Microsoft has introduced Copilot+ PC, along with new reimagined Windows, and a new Copilot. Coincidence? I don't think so!
But there's a lot of other things introduced in Microsoft's Copilot+ PC event, include better ARM support, improved battery life for Surface laptops, and so much more. 5 minute summary and opinions inside.

I’m wondering if they’re prioritizing other companies in specific situations to ensure they are not label as a Microsoft owned company

That's one way to look at it, but I actually think it's the opposite - they make sure they don't "outshine" Microsoft, so to Microsoft's users and enterprises, Microsoft would be the only "AI provider".

Yes it is. This was obvious before we even heard an out it.

Fair enough, but still good to see confirmation.

It’s interesting that OpenAI typically use Apple products in most their presentations.

Yeah, they use only Apple products, and their desktop/mobile apps are release on Apple products first.

It’s funny how Microsoft chose to name their platform for backwards compatibility as the same name as the NSA’s program for covert universal surveillance. Doesn’t inspire much confidence in the direction of windows11/12 with AI. For me personally it has put a nail in the coffin of ever wanting to use windows ever again

LOL, I completely missed that! But now that you said, I cannot miss it! Microsoft Prism vs NSA Prism, now is hard to miss. But yeah, been using Windows for the first time in the last few weeks after not using it for around 15 years, and while it improved, it still an constantly-updating-constantly-crashing mess.

You mean you can use it in your browser on Win10, right? Because the ChatGPT Desktop that OpenAI introduced last week, that supports the new voice chat and screen sharing, is only announced for MacOS, with no date for a Windows release, and that's after Microsoft invested $10B in OpenAI. So why there's no Windows version?

I think it's rediculous that open ai isn't making 4o avaliable for windows yet listing got4o as if you are using it. As a paid user it says that I am paying for 4o. It's the same deal on android phones. People are making videos using "4o" when it's literally just the version of 4 us paid users have had for months.

I don't think so, maybe you are confused

If it says "4o", it uses 4o. Not to be confused with 4.0. And no, paid subscribers didn't have access to 4o before the announcement...
