i tried to make chips for the first time yesterday, used the oven. turned out more like potato jerky. whenever i get an air fryer, i will try this, thanks chef.
Great little video.Thank you... Cooked mine on 200c ,UK settings, & the crisps were done in 8/10 minutes, made a couple of changes, boiled the kettle & blanched them for 5 minutes instead of boiling & patted them dry before adding oil.The bbq seasoning was spot on,the crisps were dry , not too oily & really scrummy...👍
I have a ninja that does everything but no instructions so I never could figure out how to use the air fryer for it. I saw your video and you had one. After watching you I now know how to use it. The recipe is great too. Ty!👍
might I add to boil with 1 tbsp vinegar per quart water this will prevent the pectin release and keep the potato more like a chip rather than mashed potato internally I think it also creates micro cavitations in the surface giving those tiny crispy chip bubbles also switch to peanut oil which has higher fat content giving you a more crispy chip the olive oil will give you a dryer denser chip
Hi Adam, I'm new to your blog. and my sister brought me air fryer for my birthday which is in December two days after Christmas. I've watched videos when making chips and some don't boil the potatoes. just dry them and pop them in the air fryer, I'm making Chipotle chips. but I do love BBQ chips, but I have to watch my salt intake because health reasons. so I'm using low sodium Chipotle seasoning. Thanks again. ❤
It would be helpful if you would give the amount of each spice going into the mixture. I will have to wing it based on what it appears to be when you dump[ them each into the bowl. Thx!
lol, all these people complaining about the music, I guess I agree, I mean yeah, I agree. It wouldn't be 'as' bad if you could barely hear it, but best with none imv..
Even if you use a hot oil. Can I use avocado oil as healthy for you it's better than a vegetable oil or any kind of seed oil you want to stay away from seed oils
I'm looking into air fryers and dehydrators, so I can make chips and other things, but putting have a tater in , then another , then another , I could drive to NY and get a bag of air fried chips, a hella quicker. Note to self; ''do not by a one tray cooker, ever''.
3 reasons. It helps stop them sticking together. It helps them go crisp more easily. Finally, the starch will go brown when cooked, so to keep a nice golden colour it is better to rinse it off. His were a darker brown than those I make in a deep fat fryer.
Very good and instructive video far better than others on here but totally ruined by that REALLY ANNOYING repeated burglar alarm type sound that made listening to you very difficult to understand !!
you boiled them too long, just blanche them, i make these the same way all the time and they never get mushy, maybe you are using a different kind of potato or have a furious boil instead of a simmering boil?
@@chefadamsolowitz8322 Nice. I used to live in Simi Valley and by the beach in Long Beach California. Sadly, I moved out a couple years ago because it was just too much for me to take. Lol
And you're going to feel good physically after eating those too. All this other process stuffed in seed oils is so bad for you. If you're going to use oil use olive oil or avocado oil coconut oils even better
POTATO CHIPS! I mean who doesn’t love bbq potato chips and they are vegan/ plant based!
Your background music is too loud. Kinda annoying.
Ya… I had a hard time following ya with the background music
I hope ur not a boy

Great video , great recipe . Absolutely hate the background noise. Would be easier to hear you if there was no added noise.
Thanks and the music didn't bother me one bit. Love the recipe!

This is by far the best recipe for potato chips I’ve seen, thank you.
Thank you so much. Enjoy
Helpful video; good suggestion to boil them. I wish I could see how you layered them in the basket though.
Good vid BUT, the music totally ruined it. I want to hear you, not the music.
Powered sugar,
smoked paprika ,
garlic powder,
onion powder,
chilli powder,
white pepper,
2 pinches of salt
why the background music is LOUD ??!!!!!!
it ruined the video.

thanx bro going make tomorrow
why we need to boil the potato first chef? is it to make it more crunchy?
what can be used in the place of sugar
Thanks going to try this today
Music is annoyingly intrusive. Can barely hear you for a bit. That being said, they sound delicious.
Your air fryer looks more like a crock pot. Does it also work as a crock pot? The chips that you made reminded me Lay’s kettle chips, but healthier.
It would be helpful if you would give the amount of each spice going into the mixture. I will have to wing it based on what it appears to be when you dump[ them each into the bowl. Thx!
Thanks for this recipe, but i really can't hear you, as the music is way to over-powering.
Hi where did you get the slicer
lol, all these people complaining about the
music, I guess I agree, I mean yeah, I agree.
It wouldn't be 'as' bad if you could barely hear
it, but best with none imv..
I tried to watch your video but the music was too loud. Thought you might like to know.

Please make a video on how to make tortilla chips in an air fryer.
Where can I buy plant based potatoes? Asking for a friend
Boiling isn’t necessary as the potatoes are thin and will cook and crisp in hot temp. There’s barely any chemical reaction to parboiling the potatoes.
Amounts of the spices etc.?
I've looked at the W, the T and the A and can't find a mandolin that wide unless it's $50.
What setting did you use air crisp or bake
Air crisp
why is the volume so low?
I didn’t even notice the music. I was busy following the instructions. Thanks for the video. I’m going to try this.
Why powdered sugar
Coz Murican !
great recipe but ditch the music...
Nice video Chef Adam. I have an air fryer but haven't used it yet. I will be trying this recipe!
Thank you. Nice! Enjoy
Always best to preheat with the basket in 👍🏻
Yumm

Your so better off without that music
Brill vid but PLEASE PLEASE as many others have said ditch the music and sort your mic out its you we want to hear not the crappy tunes lol
Why is it a good idea to 'pull' the starch out?
3 reasons. It helps stop them sticking together. It helps them go crisp more easily. Finally, the starch will go brown when cooked, so to keep a nice golden colour it is better to rinse it off. His were a darker brown than those I make in a deep fat fryer.
@@rikmoran3963 Thanks.
Loved the video but the music in the background was very distracting. It was too hard to hear you
Thank you for the relaxing music that makes the video almost unbearable.
The music in the background is very annoying and totally unnecessary.
The audio on this video is very low compared to other channels 😕
Omg. That music HASSSS TO GO.
You lost me when I inspected that Gang Patch on your hat.
Thankyou for the video . I’m sick of buying chips . They give me heart burn
Absolutely! I agree, nothing like fresh potato chips. Thank you for watching.
Ya
Good content. Terrible music
Your music is most annoying, why dont you turn it off.
GET RID OF THE BACKGROUND NOISE. Apart from that, good video.
Can barely hear your directions, background music covers what you are saying.
I wish I had a mandolin
Vegan AND plant based? 😉🤣 look good tho
Very good and instructive video far better than others on here but totally ruined by that REALLY ANNOYING repeated burglar alarm type sound that made listening to you very difficult to understand !!
Speach volume too low and music volume too high
They are a little too brown for me.
Music while you are talking is a pain for people who have a hearing problem😉
That background music is overpowering .
Don't boil the potatoes, they've barely been in the water and immediately turned into mush :(
you boiled them too long, just blanche them, i make these the same way all the time and they never get mushy, maybe you are using a different kind of potato or have a furious boil instead of a simmering boil?
Are you really a chef or did you actually study the stuff?
I’m a real chef. Currently an Executive Chef for a large luxury resort in Southern California.

Horrible music. Turn it off!!!
The music is so bad I had to turn it off.
Shame because I'm sure the chips must have turned out well.
The music 💀
So irritating music
And you're going to feel good physically after eating those too.
All this other process stuffed in seed oils is so bad for you.

Vegan potato chips. What will they think of next? Smdh.
What,sv ith the horrendous noise? It in no way can be called music-- and then the olume of it makes it hard to hear you. I give up.😢
Turn that stupid music "OFF"
Of course it's vegan.
Please remove Music - hard to hear What YOU are saying.
I agree that the music is annoying. Other than that, great stuff!
Annoyingly loud music ..
What is that stupid noise in the background.....
Ditch the music, or at least turn it down
What a lot of messing about and horrible music
“Vegan and plant based”
Aren’t all chips made of potatoes?
plant based potatoes, really lol
Shut that bloody background noise up
Wow a potato to make chips is plant based? rofl
Kill the stupid music. Very annoying and does nothing but drown you out at times.
Turn off that annoying music? I mean noise!!
