I just wanted to hop on here and express how much I enjoy watching your videos! You are so intelligent, insightful, and you articulate your thoughts and ideas so well. I am also a homeowner in the GTA and you have articulated your argument so well (for the record, I also agree that your primary residence is usually not an investment, unless you did a cash-out refi and used that money to invest in something that actually brought in income/profit).
Thank you, Tina! This is such a kind message 🤍🤍 I’m with you, if you refinance and invest in a cash-flow positive rental property that would be a great investment!!
Absolutely enjoyed watching this! I love how you are encouraging folks to go into home ownership with a strategy and with intention. And how you called out all those different costs, very informative!
This video has definitely made me realize that I’ve been ignorant about the reals costs of owning a home. I’m renting right now and low key always thought thought of it as waste but I’m actually gaining shelter in return like you mentioned. Thanks Reni for giving us a realistic view 🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿. I will be saving this video to reference it when I’m finally ready to purchase my home but for now we are renting 😁
I’m glad I could ask some perspective lovely! No one talks about the cost of home ownership for some odd reason 😭 Glad you will go into the home buying process informed now ❤
Hey girl I literally stalked your Twitter to see when you’ll be uploading lol; but anyways great video very informative. I would love to have a chat with you please let me know where I can reach you email Instagram etc. thank you in advance hun- keep up the good work, you’re actually making a difference !
You're the best, thanks for watching! I’m currently taking a break from one-on-one calls but will restart again in September where you can book here ☺️ calendly.com/xoreni/ask-me-anything-one-hour?month=2023-09
With the amount paid for rent, Reni, it makes more sense to buy a house and pay mortgage, especially if one has a large family. Atleast, the home will appreciate in value
I have no problems with home ownership. But whether it makes more sense to buy a house and pay mortgage depends on how much the home costs you! It’s not just the mortgage you should consider which is my main point of the video 🙏🏾

I agree totally I have always had income property. First house at 21 duplex. Most people don’t understand investing Thanks for working on education
Absolutely! I wish more people knew this.
an insightful videos, thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏾
In my primary resident, my mortgage is just 1k, my basement is rented out for 1800 since 2003.
Is this a good investment?
That sounds like a great investment if the rent covers the rest of your household expenses on top of the mortgage 😃
I think intention is key… if you don’t intend to cash out on the appreciation on your property then it’s not an investment
Even if you do intend to cash out, it doesn’t necessarily mean you will, given all the money you put into it 👀 some people do but not everyone

Okay, I’ve shared my thoughts. Let me know yours 👀

I feel like the wording of choice is slightly misleading. Maybe not that it’s “not an investment”, but rather that “it can be a bad investment”
I’d argue it’s usually a bad investment
I think anyone who gets a great fixed rate should go for thanksgiving 😀. Cos variable rates right now, is gangster. Still watching though.
Haha so true 🤣 those variable rates are killer
