Not as good as Azure Arbitrator, but goddamnit it's been a while since a final boss theme was this amazing. The track reminds me a bit of Shiro Sagisu's work on the Evangelion rebuilds or the current Shin Gojira. Simply amazing.
Nah, the bosses in Cold Steel have all actually been significant. So far we got the Shadow of the Great Will, The Vermillion Apocalypse (which is what destroyed Erebonia during the Dark Ages), and one I shall not name because spoilers. All 3 of them are important and the last two have canonically been the cause of Erebonia's destruction in past ages. This is not like the Reverie situation where Reverie was just one robot out of like a hundred mass manufactured dumb Guardian robots (meaning he was barely of any importance or relevance). And the less said about Joachim the better IMO.
Am I the only one that thinks Cold Steel 1 and 2's final boss themes are far superior to 3 and 4? 3's theme just sucked ass especially when the techo shit came on. 4's was pretty good, but in the 'its the end of the journey' kind of way. Plus they kinda just reused the final dungeon theme. Neither 3 or 4's make me feel like I'm fighting against a powerful entity that could end the world, unlike 1 and 2.
3's final boss theme isn't about making you feel like that though. The actual boss fight itself is a breeze because it's supposed to exhibit Rean's uncontrolled anger and rage that's being heightened by the curse. The song plays into this. The melody is a tad chaotic and "techno" to envoke the feeling of Rean's emotions unto the player. It's less of final boss theme honestly since it seamlessly transition into the cutscene that follows. It's not supposed to be some godly orchestral composition that makes you feel epic. It just serves as a representation of Rean's emotional state at that time. To that end, Doomsday Trance works well.
Im not going to lie. Climbing the final dungeon put me in a bad mood with all the super big annoying enemies that I really was too annoyed and bothered to enjoy this theme.
@@JRPGforlife It felt waaaay too unfair. I got its HP to really low and before I got a turn to finish it, it spams its strongest attack and kills me in one hit :(

Holy lord of cinders, that orchestra of Class VII's theme. I'd say, this could compete with Loa Erebonia's theme.
