Hey everyone, I'm back with a cover of Ideal and The Real -end version-. I actually thought about passing up this song because I already did Ideal and The Real (the original version), but every time I listened to this track, the guitar solo at 5:15 kept calling out to me. Overall, I'm happy with the result.
I'm still not sure what song to release next, though I'm slightly leaning towards Throw Away Your Mask. Let me know what you guys think! Other options I'm looking into are So Happy World, Out of Kindness, and Keep Your Faith. I finally got a community tab, so maybe I'll put out a poll or something.
In other news, I updated a little bit of the channel art. Let me know if you think it's too edgy.

What i like of both endings is the little detail of the images. In Marukis ending, you see static images of the different ideal realities. Happy all of them. But static. The images dont move. There is nothing more for them but perpetual and ignorant satisfaction. In the actual ending, what you see are sequences of the character doing something to achieve that ideal: Ryuji buying some trainers, Makoto planning some travel with her sister, etc. The ultimate expression of the game point about life, that its a work in progress, even after the achievements of the characters. It will never be what they really want, but they are free to create for themselves regardless.

Yeah, taking our dear Dreamer's deal is technically a "bad ending".
But of all the things that one can call our lovable counselor Maruki, "liar" is nowhere to be seen - despite everything, he just wants to help make the world a better place, in the way that only he can. And, if given the chance, he does just what he set out to do - create a world without pain, where you don't have to let go of your dreams... where tears don't have to fall, where you don't need to suffer from anything.
Is it better than the true ending? No, no it isn't. But for a "bad ending", it really does look pretty golden, doesn't it?
Incredibly accurate reasoning. Honestly, I don't consider Maruki a 'villain' at all. Kinda like Futaba, or Sae. They're not bad people, but bad things happened to them which lead them were they were, in a bad spot, their cognitions distorted. Maruki is the one that didn't give up and somehow found a way to make the world a better place for everyone, it isn't how things should be, but it is still a very.. Heroic ideal I'd say. That's why fighting him felt incredibly heavy, almost soul-crushing.

True, Maruki isn't a "villain". He is though an "antagonist" by definition, which just means that they go against the ideals of the protagonist. Ironic since his theme is the "ideal and the real". He's not "evil" just misguided in his sense of what is ideal.
I feel like the terms "Good" and "Bad" endings don't work with Royal's endings. I feel like it's much more accurate to describe them as the "Ideal" and "Real" endings, because at the end of the day, that's exactly what they are

This has to be my favorite track in Royal right, tied with I believe and Throw Away Your Mask. Your cover is simply beautiful.
This song is perfect for where it is placed. For all the good intentions Dr.Maruki had and how many people would be helped from this reality, it is not the good ending. Hearing this song again after finishing Royal made me cry. A beautiful song for a beautiful game.
It really makes you think: in accepting the offer, you would be sacrificing the growth of humanity. But..you'd also instill an eternal golden age in which everyone's dreams come true, and you could give hope to those who never had a chance in this reality. It makes you wonder..which is truly worth it to you?
Watching the images play out in the bg are breaking my heart. I haven’t gotten this ending yet but my god, it’s making me tear up, especially seeing their smiles and those with oh god
This hurts I’m crying
After much analysis, here’s my take as a music major. After watching a few videos with Adam Neely, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is the epitome of how Japanese people use what western people have deemed the “modes” of music and have incorporated it into their own music. Something very common in J-Pop is capturing emotion through music, similar to how we catch the feeling of blues in music. It’s not just specific notes in a scale we use to capture feeling, but that of raw emotion. Part of what makes Japan special in this sense is how the composers seem to make major sound sad, or inversely, make minor sound happy. This song, while predominantly in minor, includes some mode mixture and a lot of major key ideas. This is what gives the song the “sad yet somehow happy” sound. An example of this can be seen during the solo section at 6:11 during the walk down and run up. It’s a feeling of bring your emotions down, and raising them back up. Anyway, that’s just my take on it, thanks for coming to my TED talk.
It's definitely interesting to see how other cultures approach writing music. Sometimes you can tell that a song is from a certain culture without even hearing any lyrics.

I got that ending recently and saved it into a second save file. I did it to unlock the soundtrack in the thieves den. I deleted the second save afterwards though and gonna continue to the main part of the story on my main save file. Btw the piano version is really beautiful though.

This is such a powerful piece of music. It's been a while since a Piano arrangement has brought up so much emotion in me, props for that.

I mixed a happy video with happy people with the end version of Ideal and the Real, now it feels wrong.
It sounds like it could be a happy song, but if you use it as one, it doesn't quite work haha. Japanese artists are great at writing melancholic melodies with an upbeat rhythm

Why does Kasumi/Sumire have no screentime except a the ending?
@BlueBoltbomber For some reason, the credit text hovers over her picture during this credit sequence. I didn't want the credit text to clash with the piano notes so I just cropped her part of the video out.
I love Sumire the character though so I would have left it in if it wasn't for that one detail.
This is a hack job. Took the best part and watered it down. Sure the beginning notes are correct but the chorus part is awful, you left out all the good notes
