So yeah that court case isn't accurate in the least. I remember researching it at the time because that part of the movie made me upset with the good dad losing. It turns out if you enjoy enough benefit from a contract it makes it legitimate even if she was underage at the time. So I doubt this would have won and at the very least would have been overturned at any kind of appeal process.

My dad would do this to me and my brother when we were kids. It took me awhile to realize he clearly lifted it from this movie but we loved it.
