You just gave me the idea to start storing the metada information on excel sheets until I need it.

Hey, I like the videos, I just have a question about the TextRecords2010.dbs file. I am not sure of the function of that step is? Was the file given to the exercise or was it created previously?

    Hi!!
This video is awsome, it helped me a lot.
I want to know that from where you have taken this sample data through which you are creating this geodatabase.

OOPs! I got an error after typing in the "New Feature Class" dialogue box. It said I had Invalid Field Names and asked if I wanted to automatically put _ (underscores) after each name. (E.G. Blk would be changed to Blk_) And of course it did that for the whole list. What happened???

+Randy Arnold with field names some characters cannot be used and there can be no spaces. If the program sees a space it will often use an underscore to replace the space. Some words are also not allowed to be used because they are locked out because ESRI uses them to create specific fields. I don't know them all off the top of my head but they are ones like time and date. An underscore will can also be added if they detect two fields with the same name, this most likely happens in tables with lots of fields.

If you have coordinate data in excel and trying to plot it in ArcMap you have to be sure you are using the correct coordinate system for what your coordinates are in. If they are in decimal degrees then it would need to be in a coordinate system like NAD83 depending on your datum for your coordinates.
