How is it unrated, you know he's just promoting paid add ons right? I dont know about you but i kind of hate commercial breaks and this is exactly that , except for blender

Grid Modeler is a good addon, but people may be interested to know that it has a major distinguishing feature, that makes it different from Boxcutter. Grid modeller's operations are destructive, whereas Boxcutter operates non-destructively via modifiers.
This makes grid modeller very quick and easy to use, but it comes with that caveat. Very good for sketching out ideas and initial concepts, but perhaps a non-destructive approach is better for final models, especially if they are quite complex. Boxcutter is definitely the more powerful and flexible tool, but as a consequence, it is more complex, and does require some understanding of how modifiers and the modifier stack work.
I think grid modeller is great for beginners, and concepting in general, and later on, Boxcutter can be added to ones toolset.
I have both grid modeller and round inset from Kushiro CG, and I also have hardops and Boxcutter. I really think that they are so inexpensive/good value that they are all a complete no-brainer.

re: non-destructive. i would say the opposite when it comes to the final geometry used in animation - for me at least. Complex shaders, physics, other modifiers, on and on... I need i need reliable, real geometry. Bools are super helpful and needed. But they can stress out the machine and not play well with other elements in a scene. I agree that they are all worth getting and having more right tools for the job. i'm just adding to the discussion

As for complexity between Grid Modeler and BoxCutter I'd say they're equally complex. And that's if comparing the two without the extra addon HardOps, which certainly makes things a lot more complex. Regarding destructive and non-destructive, I think this is more of a personal preference. Some prefer one or the other, most prefer a mix. The main advantage in terms of non-destructive workflow that BoxCutter and HOps provide, is the ability to edit booleans and adjust bevels. Some users see this as an important benefit, some users would rather prefer going into Edit mode and re-adjust things. I wouldn't say neither approach is no more advantageous than the other.

Technically these are all free, they are all under the GPL, with this license you are allowed to legally share it, it's not piracy to torrent addons just like it's not piracy to torrent blender, they are under the same license, and the developer is required to give away the source code.
The problem is that there is a lot of gaslighting around how these are being sold, you can only charge for art assets so some developers add a few copyrighted icons to get around the blender license.
Do not break your bank paying for gpl software, just download it for free, it's within your rights.
