    It is good that you pointed out the hazzards of overwatering, I learned the hard way. There is a bit of trial and error involved, some plants are forgiving if you overwater the air layer and some plants are not.

    Thank you so much for the video. I am learning to do this now and I have some questions. During the time, 1-3 months, do I expect to see the leaves to fall or turning yellow as they don't have the existing support from the main root any more?
    You say best to do this in Spring. That is about March-April in CA. So should I start this process in the winter or should I start this in the spring season when the weather is not so cold? I really want to do this now, mid October...

    • @DVisionHD
      @DVisionHD  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi the time you do air layering is actually could be different from tree to tree but the best time normally is depends on two facts , first it should be just before the tree goes in rapid growing mod , because thats insures that the tree start producing roots, on the other hand it is better to do the air layering when the wether is not very hot . if by mid October the temperature is not very hot then you can go for it

    • @vufirst
      @vufirst 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    How large of a branch can you do? I've got a four inch main that my mother would to have cut off and I don't want that much tree going to waste. Its a delicious apricot tree.

    • @DVisionHD
      @DVisionHD  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can go as large as you like personally i have air layered 3 to 3/5 inches and it worked , but if the branch is very thick you need to put more soil in order to allow for enough roots to grow so make the plastic which contains the soil bigger

    • @DVisionHD
      @DVisionHD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      to transfer it to a pot .is not need to be very big but like 25to 30 cm radius but then after some time when it start growing you need to plant it in soil it should not be kept so much in th epot

      @morkour 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have checked yesturday to see if any roots ,but couldnt notice any roots ,and by the way my apple tree is only 2 years old ,is it to young of a tree for air layering?I have done the air layering on it because it wasnt doing well so i am not sure if it will develop any roots at all .I did open the root ball to see if any roots inside the ball ,i have noticed some white dots and the upper part of the bark where i removed the bark .so what do you think .

    • @morkour
      @morkour 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i have checked the 4 other lemon, grapefruit,orange and mandarin air layering that i have done it on February 8th and no roots at all ,even i have opened the plastic wrap to see if there is any roots that is not visible but NONE .do you think that I have done it early ?and what would happen since I opened the plastic wrap and closed it .

    • @morkour
      @morkour 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i was reading about air layering and came across some information stating that the temperature should be 70 and over .and now i am noticing that in all your videos you are wearing short sleeves .what was the temperature in your country in January that you have gotten successful air layering .I am in California and the temperature below 70 ,probably thats the reason that didnt develop roots for now .

    The video is good but the success rate of any airlayering is only 10% because of the young & very soft and tiny Roots They die after sometime due to the plant excess load or pressure on it .The real theory is that there should be only 30% plant left, the 70% would be cut before planting a airlayering. So, only 10% airlayerings succeed.

    • @DVisionHD
      @DVisionHD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and your comment , in my experience actually the success rate is very high almost every air layering i did was successful .this video that you watched made almost 8 years back and the it became very tall and big tree . i did over 100 air layering and although most of them was in dubai with very hot wether and although the relocating time normally it will happened in April or may but yet it succeeds.
      i agree with you that most of the videos shown in youtube and other media is not focusing in the technique , mostly it is to get more view , for this reason in my idea most of technique are not good and results in week and thin roots , because there is not enough soil in the contact with air layering section , also in some videos they use water , these are good for small branches not big one . in my technique i use free size plastic so depending on the size of trunk i will increase the size of plastic and add more soil . also because it is transparent you can wait and see when the roots are thick enough and then cut the branch .
      i will soon post air layering i did almost 3 month back and it was to relocate the whole tree and it is already planted in temporary pot last week and is started growing , i will post the video soon .
      thanks again
