The goalies stats of today are starting to trend in that direction where more and more have save percentages under .900 Few stars of today would be able to play in the 1970s or 1980s. It sucks so bad that the Ovechkin injury occurred this year. He was from day one obviously well prepaired. The goals weren’t going in the first few weeks, but he still looked faster and more engaged than a year ago and helped team win. Then he went on a typical ovie tear before injury put him down. He had a real shot at 60 goals. Now 40-45 will be a huge accomplishment.

You have to factor in the league as a whole got better. I don't think he has better numbers if he played today. Even with all the advancements behind him. Possible controversial opinion.
