Hi how much did you pay for visa?very nice place.
Hi @dani boy - I don't remember having to arrange a visa. Whether I did or didn't is something of a moot point as according to the FCO website: "From 1 January 2019, if you have a British Citizen passport you can enter Cape Verde as a visitor for stays of up to 30 days without a visa." - Think we did have to pay a 'tourist tax' (airport tax) which current equates to about 31 Euros. BUT we tend to travel with TUI who include it in the price. See: www.tui.co.uk/destinations/africa/cape-verde/holidays-cape-verde/travel-advice
Hi, I will be to that hotel in a few days, but I really hope the animation isn't everywhere and all day long. Are there pools or areas where one can stay calmer and chill out without distractions?
Hi Veronica, the animation team weren't everywhere all day long - and when they were by the pools they came for a while and then moved on. Of course this was over 4years ago so things may have changed. I know some Rius offer 'adult only' areas which I would imagine are a little quieter. I suggest talking to your travel agent or emailing the hotel directly. Hope you have a great stay there. Ian.
@@IansStudioStockport Hi I was at Funana Hotel and we were lucky. There almost were no animation. Only at night, but I also have to admit I almost not stayed at the pool because it was extremely windy and "cold". But the Resort helped my bf and I to really enjoy a relaxing week!
@@veronicasolombrino6518 Pleased to hear you had a good time. Yes, Cabo Verde can be a windy place. Has it changed much since my visit 5 years ago?
@@IansStudioStockport The design and all look the same as in your video..Maybe one thing changed. In your video it seems that facilities of the 2 Riu hotels were "shared", but now there is strict control between the two facilities...and there is a super huge new Riu Hotel which is being built near the Funana one.
Thanks for the video Ian, just booked this for the family - we go in May - son is worried about the wifi! What was that like?
It was nearly 5 years ago when I was there so I don't know if things have changed. But to get a wifi signal I had to go and sit in reception. From what I remember it wasn't brilliant but good enough to get my emails once a day and to send off any replies I need to do. I don't remember having wifi in either the room or by the pool. But that may have changed. Have you thought of suggesting to your son that he might want to read a book instead? (Yeah, I know that's going to go down like a lead balloon isn't it!). ;-)
@@IansStudioStockport yes we try and stress the importance of holidays being a time for chilling. Books may be a stretch but the delights of the sea and pool will tempt him I think . Thanks
@@Gadgetmonkey I was there some week ago..don't worry, internet works very good in the room and almost everywhere inside the resort.
@@veronicasolombrino6518 thanks looking forward to it
Wifi? Really? You are going for that?
