The winds can be brutal at times in the desert so that's why I am looking at hardshell rooftop tents. I'm wondering if there is enough room in the toe area of the dwelling to put a couple lithium ion batteries with a diesel heater?

You could, but we wouldn't recommend it. It would increase your condensation. We would recommend an external forced air heater or a 12V electric blanket. Thank you!
