In her Tiny Desk (home) concert, singer-songwriter and producer Amber Mark expresses more than once that performing for the series is a "bucket list" moment for her. Upon our first meeting, she came with the concept for her performance entirely laid out. "The band is gonna sing backup, and we can cut to my family in the audience at the restaurant," she said. "We'll make it beautiful." With details that evoked excitement and nervousness all at once, the ideas felt massive to me. And what she delivers here is pretty grand, yet deeply intimate.
For her concert, Mark stuck to the script, shooting her session at Palma restaurant in New York, a place she's called home since her high school days. This Tiny Desk (home) concert is a celebration of her stunning debut album, Three Dimensions Deep, and is handled with the same intricate attention to detail as she did for the album itself.
The dimensions Mark explored on the project are what she calls "without," "withheld," and "within." We're taken with her on a quest for answers to questions tied to her personal struggles with self-doubt, loss and heartbreak. She starts her concert with "On & On," which carries us from the "withheld" portion of the album right into a revelation of inner peace in songs like "Bliss" and "Worth It." Mark also slows it down and plays "Waiting" from her 2020 "COVERED-19" series.

Yeah she really can do that well - her music helped me a lot in one of the most difficult situations of my life some 2 years ago - she's my favourite artist since back then and even more after the album - I'm very grateful and so glad for her! - she deserves this so incredibly much !!!!!!!

I’ve been following her for the past few years and watching her obvious talent grow and evolve. Amber’s melodic phrasing sets her apart. Her new album is fantastic! This concert is so good! And those bass lines - fire!

LOVE THIS! You can just tell how much she puts into her music. She is so great at making you feel exactly what she is feeling or seeing in her mind when she writes and I love it. She also doesn’t shy away from the less than savory parts of life like loss, grief, insecurity and heartbreak. But I feel like her music is the embodiment of “there is always a light at the end of the tunnel”. And don’t even get me started on how how her vocals stay smooth but she can go from delicate to raspy. Such a great grounded artist!

"Waiting" is just phenomenal. Give it to any big pop star and it would be a huge smash, although I can't think of anyone who would do it better than her. That goes for her entire catalogue to be fair. Amber is such a wonderful talent, fully deserves to be HUGE. I'm sure it's just a matter of chance/time. The world is sleeping big time on a truly brilliant artist.
