    This is the best "Starting FreeCAD" video I have found because it goes step by step from File -> Part->Body->Sketch. Most of the other starter tutorials skip explaining/demonstrating that and just straight into the first sketch. Well done.

    Almost every feedback I have to start with: "ARE YOU IN A HURRY".
    Speaking to fast, the pointer move to fast, Talking a lot without telling what and why.
    Normal to had to hit a lot of times the rewind butten.
    This no rewind, explane is perfect in detail, you took the time.
    Not 100% perfect but 200% perfect.
    I saw the last is at the moment #43. Let's hope it will be the same till #43.
    Thanks I will have someting to do the comming days.

    I think the best thing about freecad is the amount of material on how to use it and do simple to complext things in freecad on youtube. Great video!

    Hi. Clear English, Absolutely necessary movements and Talking. Two years ago I gave FreeCAD a try with a pdf tutorial. Then other work stopped me for continuing. Now was the time to make a fresh restart. After searching (and trying) al lot varius tutorials,here I found what I was looking for. Very explanatory step by step approach with nothing left behind. Since I am Greek and English is not my native language I find the work flow easy to follow. I will go up to the end. Thanks a lot Adventures.

    If using the development branch in Linux, I strongly suggest users choose the Daily PPA over appimage if your distro can use PPAs. The Dev branch is updated every day - if you wish to keep up to date ,the appimage must be updated every day ,manually.

    Excellent tutorial for beginners like me. I am on a Macintosh and had difficulty because my layout (v.19) was much different to yours but I did manage to get to drawing the sketch (about 21:50 into your video. Either I have done something wrong or there is a big difference between Windows and Mac. I am now stuck at 21:50 where you select "Pad" from the sketch tools list under the "Tasks" tab because the tools list does not show. The tasks workspace is blank. Can you please let me know how I can proceed. Your video is my only experience with FreeCad and I would like to continue learning from your videos. Thank you Barrie.

    • @Adventuresincreation

      I used to use Mac but switched to windows when my Mac became aged. I wasn't aware of major differences in the interface. If you are just looking to create a pad, you can select that from the tool bar. Just look for the pad button.

    Is it possible to modify/edit a pre-existing .STL file whether or not it was created in FreeCAD?

      Great question. - Short answer, maybe: You can do it but FreeCAD might not be the best for doing that. - You can use a mesh modeler (think blender or meshlab).

    Do you have a tutorial that deals with local coordinate system and datum planes? I have managed to draw and print most parts for a replica prop of the logins run deep sleep blaster. I managed to use LCS to allow a datum plane to be rotated on the correct axis then move it tangent to a cylinder surface to do a pocket slot on the surface. Not sure if it is the correct way or quickest way to do it but it worked.
    Also how do you loft when there are two edges to follow between ends. One edge being straight the other having a kick in it. Hope that makes sense.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure what you are trying to do with the LCS, are you just using it to create a plane so that you can draw from a perspective other than the stand XY etc?
      I don't understand the loft question. Are you talking about doing something along a path?

    • @ThoughtandMemory
      @ThoughtandMemory 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Adventuresincreation yes I believe that is what I mean. Initially I was rotating the object and found this caused issues with orientation of any more sketches used on it because it seems that the global axis rotate with the object. More by chance I found creating an LCS Allowed me to preserve the objects global orientation whilst being able to create datum planes with the correct orientation to apply a pocket or hole on the surface of the object.
      I think lofting was probably the wrong tool for what I was trying to do so I’ll not worry on that point and watch some more videos.
      I am enjoying learning Freecad so that’s a plus. I’m trying to avoid developing bad habits as I learn but I’m sure I have taken some liberties with best practice 😂🤣

    This tutorial had a lot of what I needed to know but was far too slow to get to the goal. If the goal is to show a beginner, a one-step download, a click to start, and an easy to follow drawing is ALL. What you know that does not get me to a result is useless to me or anyone else. This is more than 50 years of teaching sayin this. Make a straight,unambiguous path.
    FreeCad has enormous resources that WILL BE SQUANDERED if straight-forward and simple delivery methods are not implemented. Think of how many steps a commercial game requires to get started. Then think about a newcomer to FreeCad. If there are too many steps many potential users just quit. Check how long it took from videos' start to first drawing. (I shouldn't have to build my own tool to start.)
