One bad experience with Booking.com in the Philippines

  • I was a victim of a scam listing and unresponsive customer service from a travel app last year.
I used the app Booking.com with good success before, but this listing didn't exist. It required a downpayment to reserve, I paid. Then when I got there I couldn't find it, everyone I asked said they didn't know of such place there, and the only phone number available was invalid. Checked it on Facebook, same number. No reply on messenger.
I heard nothing from Booking.com sent emails and went on queue for customer service within the app. Crickets. Then I saw their reply on Twitter: "Hi Noel, for our information, did you actually go to the accommodation and then found out that they were closed?
Did you also try calling them on the number provided in the confirmation email?"
It didn't "make it easier for everyone to experience the world." Bitter sweet.
Yes I went to the place. I searched for an hour at night with my suit case asking everyone around. I ended finding a new place BY FOOT. I was so happy about the find that I had to make this video in the morning before my meeting across the street.
This was just one bad experience, hope yours is better! ...this didn't turn out to be so bad, but not because of Booking.com I regret to say.

Never use 3rd party companies for hotel booking & car rentals, go directly through the companies. Customer service is terrible with 3rd parties.
