    Sir,
    Don't know how to thank you.
    Your way of teaching is world apart. I have learned all the concepts from you, and your videos never disappoint. (Less time and complete knowledge)
    Many thanks for creating such videos.
    Would love to see more videos on Data Engineering topic, though there are many videos out there, but would love to see it in your way of teaching.
    Lots of love and well wishes for your health.

    HI Chandoo,
    Thank you for the video, It gave me a good understanding. I am using Power BI reports for my organisation and I am pondering which schema should I use Star or Snowflake?
    I have mostly dimensions table only, user, userlogin, points earned and points redeemed few others and for all the tables the users are focal point ( in the sense I create relationships using usernames). There are just a couple of basic calculation that has to be done in each dimension for example: unique login counts, total points earned, etc. nothing complex.
    I do have an orders table which gives me the order details like product, price, purchase date and so on but here, let me put it this way, if there are 100 users, only 80 would have logged in and out of that 80 , only 70 would have earned points, out of 70 only 50 would have redeemed their points and it is only for those 50 users who have ordered products will the data get filled in the orders table. so in this case should I create a star schema with the order table as center or a snowflake schema.
    Right i dont think my model mimics either star or snowflake schema.
    My report is mostly used to get the aggregated details of each user,
    Would like to know your input regarding this

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't need to have either star or snow-flake all the time. Design your schema based on the tables (and real world concepts) you have. As you need user centric reporting, user would the dimension and link whatever else you need to it. Whatever you do, don't create overly complicated schemas like network.

    Hello Chandoo.. Thanks for sharing this. It's a great help however I am not able to apply any one of the two schema's in my data modeling. I have three tables where I have redundant data. Should I add one non redundant data set which will be used to connect all the above tables or any other approach will suits this better to define the data model. If you suggest something on this that would be a great help.

Actually I had experience in customer service from last 7 years and in this career period, I had worked experience in Excel reporting. Now I am planning to switch the career as a Data Analyst, I am doing self learning MySQL, Oracle SQL, Excel , Statistics Analysis, Data Visualization using Power BI, Tableau and Basic knowledge of Python. I applied on multiple companies from last 2 months no such responses come yet. Can you please help me or suggest how can enhance my skills?

      Hi Bhawna... That is a whole bunch of technologies right there. If I were you, I would position myself as an expert in one or two key areas when applying for a job. While you are _expected_ to use multiple techs in the job, at the time of application you have a better chance of getting a call if you narrow down and write a strong resume with 1-2 focus areas.

    One question dear chandoo sir
    In star schema we use dimensions to filter facts tables.
    Let think we have created snow flake schema
    Then all dimensions tables which forming snow flake schema can filter facts tables same like it filter in star schema? Or we get different results? Please I'm confused

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The filters will propagate thru the connections. So if you filter an outer dimension in the snow-flake, the fact in the middle gets filtered too.

    Hi
    I’ve PQ challenge
    The daily business hours:
    Start from 8:00:00 AM
    End time 10:00:00 PM
    The challenge
    1- is to change any transaction that comes between
    10:00:00 PM and 11:59:59 PM
    to the start of work hours (Next Day-Date) 8:00:00 AM
    2- is to change any transaction that comes between 12:00:00 AM and 7:59:59 AM to be 8:00:00 AM
    the reason I want to evaluate the number in business Hour also don't missing any transaction that comes after or before

    • @chandoo_

      Hi Faisal... you can use PQ conditional columns to do this stuff. Firs extract time portion alone to a column and then do what you want. If you have trouble, post these questions in a forum or stackoverflow for help.

    What is the best course or career after bba in IT. ?

    • @chandoo_
      @chandoo_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There is no such thing as "BEST" in these things. You have to figure things out and be willing to experiment and fail. Instead of thinking, "what should I do for rest of my life", think of "what can I learn and achieve in next 2-5 years" and do those. Once you reach a milestone or find yourself not learning enough or not nearly happy, just pivot and choose something else.
      All the best for the journey my friend.
