Hey! I just did this. Thank you soo much. I found the long life bulb, did the job in about 20 minutes while seated in the drivers side, no tools! Subbed
4:13 THIS IS THE SECRET SPOT. Got it first time. Thank you so very much! I was struggling to remove the cap, but this saved me so very much time and effort. BTW, A cheap T5 yellow LED did the trick perfectly. And, since you already dissasembled the gear selector, clean it, for the love of God
Totally agreed on cleaning it, if not now, when. Can't live with my conscience if I don't. Thanks for your kind comment 👍and thank you so much for watching.
HI, Shayan, I am so happy it works well. Even on the Corolla, the dashboard able to see which gears it is on; however, while driving at night, it is very inconvenient to put in Drive or Reverse gear without the light. "Let There Be Light" 😄 Thank you for your feedback and thank you for watching.
Thanks both. AutoZone gave me the wrong bulb. I have a 2013 Toyota Corolla S, so loving this comment. Seems like the dealer *really* wants drivers to come in to change this. Wasn't even in the owner's manual. I bow in thanks to you cheap daddy 😅
Hi, Black Queen your Majesty, the first time I did it, it was painful; however, after it was burnt out and I have to re-do it the second time, it is piece of cake. If you drive a lot at night, that little light really helps when you put in Park or Drive. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching. 😁
@@blackqueen5201 Yes. give it a try and worst come worst, you have to re-play and watch this video inside your car. Also, if you ran out of time, I think the car still drivable because those removed panel are cosmetic only. Thank again for your comments, your Highness. 👑
I went to O'Reilly Auto parts and they gave me the 74 and the 74 is actually a little too big so you can't get the light to light and less you shove it really hard and then sometimes it expands the plastic socket to the point of where it won't go back in where it's supposed to go in the shifter so the 2721 is a little tinier and it is probably the more accurate bulb to be using but since I bought the 74 I'm going to go ahead and use it for now and hopefully I don't have any problems with it
Hi, Chuck, thanks for your information. I used 74 before and then 2721, so far 2721 still working fine. Please be caution that in Amazon, some 2721 is not made by Sylvania. Thanks for watching.
It is original from Toyota, I think it may be based on model because I also see some silver one in XRS. My Corolla is 2009 LE, I think you may get it from auction sites. Thanks for watching and thank you for your comment😁.
I changed that 2 times and it is a burned light bulbs; however, I would check the followings: 1) Try the other light bulbs since it comes with 2. May be the first one you installed is defective or already burnt or damaged during shipping. 2) Try it both way on light bulb. Turn it up side down, right or left when installed, may be there is a bad contact. 3) Try to push the bulb lights all the way. if still not work, try to clean the socket with electrical cleaner or the connector or socket is dirty. 4) use a multi-meter to check whether you have power (electrical) go through that little light bulb socket. You have to turn on the headlight to see the current because if no headlight turn on, no current to shifter light. If you turn on headlight and still no current to shifter light socket. You may have a short on the wire. If issue, most likely may be the wire on that little connector. 5) Your new bulb should be good from factory but I think you can test your light bulb with a 9V battery to make sure bulb is good. if connected to 9V battery, the little light bulb should turn on. Please let me know how it goes. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching.
Perfect. My exact model. Saved me $60 at dealer. $8 for 2 bulbs at Advanced Auto Supply. You earned a sub.
I am so glad the video able to help. Thank you so much for watching.
I really appreciate the video! Thank you for being so thorough and taking your time replacing the bulb!
