- Kristin Chenoweth and Shoshana Bean performing "For Good" from the hit musical "Wicked" live at TrevorLIVE LA 2017. Held on December 3, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the event hosts hundreds of supporters enjoying an evening of spectacular music and comedy performances in support of the lifesaving programs and services of the nation’s leading crisis intervention and suicide prevention organization focused on LGBTQ+ youth, The Trevor Project.

Yeah, she always does that. The volume on the mic is high for sure but it is so far away she HAS TO project because otherwise it wouldn't be picked up by the mic

This just melts my heart every time. You felt Shoshana was literally singing to Kristin. Shoshana has this rare ability to take a song, personalize it, and styles it to make you feel like the words she’s singing about are a documentary of emotions.

There's a clip from Kristen's last Wicked performance of "For Good" and it's really emotional both Idina and Kristen make the performance very personal.

To the Sho Haters, people must remember Shoshana is a Soprano. Notice how in the shared vocals she is singing the upper note and Kristin is singing on the down note. People forget that Shoshana was casted for physical reasons. She read as Idina extremely well. Her voice was also entirely different. Shoshana could have easily played Glinda.
I don’t understand your comment. Idina is a mezzo-soprano and Shoshana a soprano so it should be easier for Shoshana to sing the upper notes than Idina !? 🤔
@@liltiib430 mezzo-sopranos can project more in the middle notes, sopranos can obviously hit those notes but with lower volume, their voice (sopranos) tends to go higher key instead of maximising the volume in that part of the range . So shoshana did a perfect job harmonizing with kristine, although keeping that tone which it's not natural for her.
Valerio Conigliaro Yeah that’s what I thought, she did pretty well harmonizing with Kristin ! Even though Shoshana is a soprano she definitely is very good with her low register 👌🏻
They're both Sopranos- but Elphaba is a Mezzo Soprano role and Glinda is a Soprano role.
Ashleigh Marie Mezzo Soprano and Soprano are different Voice Classifications. In classical music, There is numerous classifications of Mezzos and numerous classifications of Sopranos. They are different voices. Even in a standard choir. There’s 6 basic voice classifications Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Mezzo-Soprano, and Soprano. I’ll repeat my prior statement, Shoshana was cast as Elphaba for her likeness to Idinas physical presence NOT her voice. She has even talked about how she almost had permanent vocal damage because of the strain of having to belt those lower and middle notes. You will always notice Shoshana now sings in more of a riff style because it’s healthier for her voice to riff belt.

I'll say one thing Shoshana seems to enjoy herself every time she sing she always smiling. Absolutely brilliant from both singers Kristin is pure magic. Love this one of the best duets ever.
I’ve watched this over and over. I truly believe this was the most heartfelt rendition of For Good. Shoshana definitely had a moment because singing this with the woman that started the show that changed her life. It is very emotional. Shoshana has a deep respect for Idina and Kristin. They said yes to this script and gave the blueprint for hundreds of actresses. This for good is every replacement thanking them for saying Yes.

This is sooo poetic between these two because had Kristin not left, the show never would have had a reason to replace Glinda and Sho would have found a different ensemble gig. Sho really was one of the few up and coming stars that had Kristins frame with Idinas likeness
. sho would not have auditioned for Glinda and The producers never would have met her .Sho was only really auditioning for Soprano roles up to that point and production really saw something different in her. They saw someone that could lead a show. They saw the ensemble member that could handle leading a show with just her talent. This moment is so special and unique for them. It truly only takes 1 person.

I think the irony of this is that this is the first time the “Glinda” Voice was lowered because the “Elphaba” Voice has a higher soprano tone This actually shows off how much of a soprano Sho is.

Newsflash: How far the mic is from the singer has absolutely no bearing on the singer's power or lack thereof. It all depends on the mic and how loud it is set.
Not really. The singer's "projection" does have an impact on proper mic placement, indeed even on the choice of what mic to use. Just boosting the gain on the mic adds noise and potential "hum". The ideal is to have one "safe" (no noise, no hum) setting and adjust the distance from the vocalist accordingly. Then, if necessary, ride the fader to compensate. This generally is not needed with professionals like these amazing women.

Kristin always holds her mic like that. She resonates a lotttt she's trained to sing over an orchestra as she's an opera singer.
Chenoweth likes to hold her microphone half a mile away and Bean likes hers closer. Chenoweth holding a microphone is a sound man's nightmare. I think whoever the sound person was did an amazing job of keeping levels as close as they were without any feeding back.

That's how it's written. Glinda is the lower Harmony in this song. They trade harmonies throughout the show.
