Capitals fan, born and raised. There has been so much disappointment over the past 30+ years. Best we got was Eastern conference champs in 98. And then... one final, triumphant game in Vegas in 2018 sealed millions of fans' dreams: finally a Stanley Cup win!
To see Ovie and Nick hoist the Cup was on my bucket list for over a decade. Mission accomplished
Absolutely. The shot of Nicky and Ovi hoisting the Stanley Cup together is amazing. Everyone probably thought Ovechkin didn't want to let it go. Nicky had a broken hand the entire Stanley Cup Final. He still played great.
After the Stanley Cup win here in D.C. ; I'm perfectly happy no matter what happens from now on.
I remember watching this. In the last minute there was a whole bunch of stoppage. I was just scared vagas might score. I touched the cup when OVI came to fortdupont and I skipped school to go to the parade. GO CAPS!

I skipped school too lol and went to all the late night watch parties and home games. I’ll never forget it!
Man I wish. I had a fookin mandatory final that day. Both my brothers and my dad got to go. Really hope they win another so I get to go to a parade in person.

No one who isn’t a Capitals fan will ever truly know how much this meant to D.C.
Something I only noticed recently is how goalies really are the heart of the team. When the team wins they always rush to the goalie. Always touches helmets. Even here, though ovechkin is the captain, everyone skated to hug Holtby the minute they won the cup.
TJ with his dad has to be one of the best SC moments ever.
I watch this video once a year. And I believe that such a moment will come one more or many times when Washington will raise the Stanley Cup over its Head.

@@brettaxon how many of Kuzys points came as a result of an Ovechkin goal? Secondly you didn't hear people talking about how Ovechkin was a much better and improved 2 way player. He carried them. Kuzy was vital don't get me wrong. But so was DSP. So was Eller when Backstrom went down. But Ovechkin won that fair and square.

This was the second best day of my life both of my daughters births are #1 and this is the next 😀 i did 😭 my eyes out when we won i have been waiting my whole life for this moment. I cant wait til we start playing again.

See, I know it’s been 4 years since winning the cup, and 2 since this video came out, but this year, I have hope. Hope is what brought the Caps to the cup in 2018, and I believe that it will happen again. Exactly when, I don’t know, but I see the fire in each of the players eyes, the love for one another like family. Winning is never easy, and trials will be placed in their way, but every trial that has happened, whether it be the injury massacre throughout the top players or the bad start to the season, they come back better and stronger. I have hope and that is what guides me, and I hope it guides them, too!❤️ GO CAPS!🤘🤘🤘
Greatest championship in nhl history all facts the way the capitals always lost to the penguins and then 2018 down 2-0 all the haters said where we go again then we tired the series in Colombus from that I knew we were winning the cup and once we beat the penguins I knew it’s our time we’ll deserved never ever forget this 2018 Stanley cup champions we will be champions again I believe 🙏🏻

Crazy to think that Grubauer was on the team in 2018 when they won the cup, and now he's with Colorado who's looking like they stand every chance of makin' the cup run this year. If Colorado does win, two cups in the span of what 3 to 4 years with two different teams is pretty impressive.

The Rocketansi Playpffs -= NHL Division- The Blue Jackets - dismissed in Columbus. The Bnuins - painted over in PPG Arena. The Bruins - baked in the Boston Garden. The Golden Knights - slain in T-Mobile Arena. (Only the Redskins (neutral site) and Mystics (at home) did NOT win their titles on the road.) While the Caps were claiming their Cup, I was fighting my own battle - my third - with cancer (this time of the liver).
