  • When setting up a shop or adding a new tool, finding the right placement for it is key for work flow and optimization of the tool. I try to put most of my large tools on mobile bases. That way as my shop grows I can easily make changes and keep the shop clear and safe. In this video we dive into different mobile base designs so you can make an educated decision when it comes to purchasing and get the right one the first time. Links below for some examples of mobile bases either featured in this video or similar to them. I put my Jet JBS-15 Bandsaw on a Bora Portamate PM-3500 with 3/4” plywood. Rolls easy and is rock solid when I lock the feet down. Amazon had a sale on and I am a happy man.

Thanks! With my 3 wheeled base I replaced the 3” threaded rods with 24” threaded rods/ attached some aluminum angle iron horizontally to the legs of the saw and slipped the threaded rod thru slightly oversized holes and attached the OEM knobs to the top of the threaded rods. VOILA… no more bending way over to turn anything.

Excellent review with very good video editing. Another utuber video discovered that the old HTC bases now carry the Bora brand name.

Nice video! Appreciate the info! Just put my 14” bandsaw on that Bora Portamate 1100. 400lb rating. I glued a 1/4” ply to a 3/4” ply. They send 2 lengths of screws. The shorter ones fit perfectly when mounting the corners and the ply. Very sturdy. Moves nicely. Just wanted to pass this along.

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering how that system would work and how it would hold up.

Im planning on buying a band saw and putting it on a base, any issues with tipping?

@@ChonkysWoodshop no tipping. I made the base approximately 4” larger all the way around for stability. It doesn’t get in the way of my feet either. I took the plywood and put it under the bandsaw before actually assembling it to see if it wood get in my way. It doesn’t. Good luck! Keep on woodworking!!

Great video . I have the Hitachi c10rj table saw and it has a very wide footprint 45 1/2” x 36”. Have a ever seen a move able Nase that this table saw can fit in ?

Most have adjustable foot prints so just pay attention to the descriptions when it comes to ordering so you can be sure your footprint matches up.

I’m 73 now and I have a small space to work in so I have to move my tools to the center of the floor and I take my table down when I finish using it and put back up when I need to use it.
