The new setup in the kitchen is looking pretty snazzy mate! The medal hanger would finish it off nicely. Appreciate the tips you give out in the video 👍🏻🏃♂️ Good luck in the race.
I’ve been running a year now mainly focusing on easy pace mileage and in the past few months I’ve added in regular tempo runs which has seen my 5KM come down from 32:48 to 21:52. I’ve not done a 5KM time trail for about 6 weeks and have just added interval training into my training plan for the past two weeks now. Working on 6 x 800m at 6:30 pace with 2 minuets rest. From your experience how quickly do intervals take to kick in. I’m currently running 30mpw looking to get a sub 20 5KM in the near future
Thats some great improvements in the last few months. Sessions like 800m repeats are really goot for improving your vo2 max which will make you more efficient running at faster speeds. Id say after 4 weeks of intervals you should start to feel more comfortable at faster speeds. As long a you maintain your easy mileage on top of the intervals, I'm sure you'll get close to that sub 20 in the next 2/3 months or so looking at that rate of improvement. Keep working hard!!!
@@BenIsRunning by the way, this is off topic, I don't know Is it because the recent increase of mileage and also I switched to the zoom fly flyknits for tempo runs, and my right ankle has been hurting alot, it's the kind of pain where there is no visible tenderness or swelling, and when I run, the first 400m are like the worst and then after they got warmed up they got better and if I was doing repeats, the moment I rest for like 2 mins plus, I cant even run after that, like starting it is so hard and I'm not sure what it is, it's not my Achilles and that's for sure it's just on the outer area of my ankle and it's kinda annoying because my fitness is peaking now and I really don't feel like taking any rest, hope you have some sort of experience
Hi Ben. Love your content. It keeps me interested to go for 2-3 runs every week. Just curious, at what age did you start to run on a serious level and how old are you now?
Great timing as I have a 10KM (Chester) 18th July, so planning to taper next week. Also got a 10KM race 25th not ideal, any tips for the week in-between? Active recovery after the first race and repeat the taper again or add in one midweek session. Perhaps 6 x1km to get the legs ready? Thanks.
I personally would taper into the first race and then play the week in between by ear. I probably would do a mid week session just simply because I would feel I was missing out on too much training. Perfect opportunity to see what works best for you! Good luck
I have used sometimes the massage gun but not as much as I should, same like the foam roller. But I guess that the sleep part is the most important but I get on average 5 or less hours (having young kids dont help, but you just keep going). Hope your week goes well and you smash that 5k track race. Cheers!
what 5k workout session would you suggest during the taper week(1week)? this coming week will be my taper week. I'm afraid i cannot achieved the required time(16:58) for joining a running club
“5:00-4:30 min/km is my slow pace”
😂😂😂 I dream of that pace! Loving this channel Ben, will try to donate soon, keep it up!
Excellent video. The thrill and excitement of pushing for a PB is amazing. I miss it
Nrothing beats rolling the dice! Not always about the pbs but agree the excitement is great
Legend Ben! Hit PB of 16:57 at parkrun today - all following this taper
I'm doing my first race this weekend, it's a 10k but most tips are applicable and I'm taking a few on boards, thank you for this helpful video!

Really good tips. Thanks.
Cheers buddy 🙌🏻
I love your presentation style! How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?
Brilliant video 🔥
Thank you appreciate your feedback 🔥🔥
8h sleep might actually be a little short for a runner🤔. I heard of lots of runners, who sleep like 8-10h every day. Even more in tapers
If you can then I’m guessing the more the better!
I've found anything over 11hrs however, is too much for me as it leaves me feeling sluggish
9h is perfect for me
@@elliottchard the more the better!!
Love the video!
THANK YOU :)

2 days rest .. what does it mean ?? As in zero run for those 2 days ?? Thankyou sir ben for answer.
3:34 You earned it. Enjoy!
Question, in your intro, 10 seconds, where is this?
The race start? It’s at the remembrance 5k race at Debden airfield, saffron Walden:)
