The Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein was obsessed with having peace around him when he wrote his philosophical treatises. He sought silence in Skjolden in the innermost part of the Sognefjord in Norway, and settled on a mountain ledge above Lake Eidsvatnet. But even here it was not completely free of disturbances...
